Been with iinet for 9 years and generally didn’t have too may issues. But when it come to cancelling service to go with another provider they wouldn’t let me get through to someone. They kept transferring me from department to department. This is contrary to consumer law in Australia. Staff were rude. Basically you won’t be able to speak to anyone if you ever cancel the service. You’ve been warned people !!! Show details
An email received from iiNet on 25 November 2025 read as follows: ‘NBNCo planned maintenance in your area will occur between 7AM - 7PM from 01/12/25 to 05/12/25. This MAY affect your iiNet NBN service (at your address). If you have a phone service that uses your NBN internet to operate, this may also be affected during the maintenance.’ My… Read more
internet and phone service were affected on 1/12/25, but not until after the 7pm time indicated in the iiNet email. As they were still down on 2/12/25 I used mobile data to check the NBN website. This told me that there would be outages between 7AM - 7PM from 01/12/25 to 05/12/25 but only for an unspecified 1-1 ½ hours per day. I then checked with neighbours who are linked by the same HFC connection and also use iiNet. As their internet was working while mine wasn’t I phoned iiNet. The person I spoke to refused to do anything saying it was due to NBN maintenance. I told her we were only meant to be down for short periods between 7AM - 7PM each day and that we'd already been down for 24 hours. I informed her that the outage hadn't affected my neighbour's internet even though we're both with iiNet and share the same HFC connection. She didn’t listen; it was like talking to a brick wall. On 3/12/25 I had a similar conversation with someone from iiNet. When I persisted, she agreed to take the matter further and call me back, SHE DIDN’T. On 3/12/25 I completed an iiNet customer satisfaction survey in which I expressed dissatisfaction, AGAIN NO RESPONSE. Why send me a survey by email when they knew my internet was down? I was only able to receive and complete it as I was using shopping centre internet. When my internet and phone service were still down on 8/12/25 I phoned iiNet for the third time, this time the person I spoke with was proactive and took steps to reset my connection. He also processed a refund for the down time but refused compensation for the lengthy, expensive mobile calls to iiNet, for the expensive mobile data use or for the inconvenience. Was that the end of the story? Of course not, last week was fine but today the internet has dropped out twice. This time with no warning from iiNet. There doesn't seem to be any reliable and accurate communication between iiNet and NBN, also no reliable attempt to provide reliable and accurate information to their customers. Another mobile data check on the NBN website showed more maintenance in our area, this time between 7AM - 7PM from 15/12/25 to 19/12/25, also for short periods each day. There is no way that I can rely on either NBN or iiNet. NBN were meant to improve Australia’s internet service, THEY HAVEN’T. iiNet are meant to keep me informed of NBN outages, to give accurate information and to respond when I experience problems, THEY DON’T. I can’t rely on mobile phone coverage either, I live in a mobile blackspot with both calls and data continually dropping out.
It took over 3 weeks to get in internet working and we were paying for it in that time. It then worked fine but when moving from the property cancelling was made incredibly difficult. Avoid at all costs! – I signed up with iiNet for my home internet. I thought the pricing was decent and there was an offer of one month free. When things seem too good to be true, they probably are, and that adage applies well here. There was a guarantee once my order was processed, that my modem would be sent within 2-5 business days. It has now been almost 3 weeks… Read more
and not a single update provided. I’ve called iiNet three times and each time the customer service representative has straight up lied to me and said the issue would be resolved in a few days. Finally the rep I spoke to today admitted they are having some sort of system failure on their end and there is not time frame for the delivery of my modem.
The poor customer service reps are offshore and just reading from whatever script they have. No power to help at all.
I haven’t had internet for three weeks, and I work from home!! Whatever you do, DO NOT USE iiNET. They are essentially scam artists who will take your money and never send the products you paid for.
Outstanding and unexpected service – The service and support is highly commendable. I was amazed at how quickly NBN responded to the need of a technician to correct a problem. The booking and follow-up was thatnks to iiNet and their support staff. Very impressed and grateful. Show details · 3

Was great but after maintenance – I have been with IInet for 12 to 13 years and service has alway been excellent. Drop out are rare and usually due to some third party reason. After the May and June planned maintenance I have noticed a decrease in the quality of streaming (one device) checked speed test 12 down and .5 up. Prior to maintenance I was getting 12 down and .95 to 1.05 up. This is sufficient to stream. Show details

Patchy during Peak Hours – At peak hours each day, it was not uncommon for it to be difficult to get a connection to play Scrabble. I appeared to have a low priority. Eventually, iiNet stopped hosting email addresses and, after about 19 years continuous service, I stopped using them as my Internet Service Provider [ISP]. Show details
Very happy with service and support – I have been with iinet since the NBN became available in Kiama. Hello, I highly recommend avoiding iinet and suggest switching to another provider as soon as possible. (NBN12 Fibre Seniors Card for more than 6 years) since she dislikes change and has many anxieties.
On 14/04/2025, I received an email from iinet informing me that her service will transition to a new plan in June. After reviewing the email attachment, it was explicitly stated that the new plan will be a one-year contract. Without my reviewing the attachment, there was no sign that she would be placed on a one-year contract!
In disbelief, I contacted iinet yesterday for clarification. Following an hour on the call, they informed me that my grandmother's service would remain the same apart from the price hike. I should disregard the email attachments since it was generated by the system.
I have not trusted them, and rightly so, so I chose to switch the service to a different provider. The new provider established a connection within 2 hours without any alterations to the existing configuration. The process was quite simple.
Anyway, I received the final bill today, which includes a breaking fee of $225 as shown below. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- NBN12 Fibre Seniors Card

Finally, I strongly advise against using iinet altogether. To quickly generate income, they are targeting the elderly, the most vulnerable members of our community. I continue to have difficulty believing that. My subsequent move will be to engage the ombudsman tomorrow.

Poor support – NBN service has been stable, but woeful support. until next day and checked speed again. Still 0.8 upload and 24 to 34 down. I contacted support. What a rigmarole that is. Long story cut short, after 53 mins of back and forth on the phone and no solution I gave up. I have changed back my service to 12/1 and for work purposes needing uploads, take myself off to our local library. What a fiasco and so disappointing. I have had faster speeds with my previous supplier so I know it is achievable and will likely go back when the modem is paid for. So Disappointed in iiNet.
Having given iiNet a chance to reply to this before publishing, I can now say the problem has been well resolved. Thank you iiNet for the service. It was unfortunate though that I had to write this review before you acted. All fixed now Happy customer. 4 star now.

and fiddling around with the modem for over an hour with no result other than they'll send out a new modem, arrival to be in five business days. New modem arrives five days later so install the modem to find internet still not accessible. This was five o'clock last Friday evening. Rang tech support and waited over ONE HOUR just to be connected. The overseas technician this time was even more of a disaster than the last. She seemed to have absolutely no idea how to fix the problem though kept me on the line to keep trying for over TWO HOURS...hard to believe but true. She did say that the problem was at "their end". I finally gave up when she said that she would "escalate"this problem "higher". I indicated that if I didn't get a call back within 24 hours I would go to another ISP. At 2am woken by an SMS saying that iiNet were "investigating the problem". At midday Saturday I phoned another ISP and arranged for them to take over from iiNet and was connected and up and running within two hours! The difference in customer service experience between iiNet and our new ISP (Aussie Broadband) was astonishing!

you on hold for a couple of minutes', and a couple of minutes turns into 20-30 mins and then the call drops out. It took three phone calls and multiple emails to finally get them to send me a confirmation email stating "your service will be cancelled on date x".
But that's not the end of, I thought it was all cancelled on date x as I had requested and as they had confirmed, however, shortly AFTER that date, they issued another bill for the following month (to be clear, the period they were billing for was completely AFTER the cancellation date). I contacted them and told them I should not be billed after cancellation date, and they told me they'd sorted it and cancelled the invoice and that I can just disregard it.
However, despite telling me they'd sorted it and had retracted the invoice, a direct debit for that billed amount came out of my bank account the week later. And here is where it gets even worse - so the week earlier I had blocked their direct debit authorisation from my bank thinking that would prevent any further money being incorrectly debited, however, the reason they were still able to debit from my account is because they used a new/different account from their end to perform the direct debit. I.e. I had blocked "iinet account 1" from my bank but they then used "iinet account 2" to do the transaction (those weren't the actual account names but you get the idea). I'm not an expert on the law but I believe what they have done is illegal.
Anyway I have contacted them again and asked for the billed amount to be refunded, which they say they will do this week, but we'll see.

undertake Speed Tests and the results are very pleasing showing a reading of close to 12 nearly every time. Yes there have been occasional glitches in the NBN system but I have enough knowledge to understand this is not an iiNet issue but an NBN related problem. I have been a customer for 18 years, firstly with Westnet before they became part of iiNet and have found them to be very customer friendly. Anytime we have had any issues or concerns and had the need to contact customer support, they have always tried to resolve the problems, even when the problem was with my equipment or device not an iiNet issue. They have always endeavored to fix the problem on the first contact and their follow up to ensure we were satisfied the issue or problem had been resolved.
We were offered a chance to change our NBN to wireless, which we tried for a few months. This exercise did not go as planned. The issues with this service was not an iiNet fault but was the wireless provider issue, in this case the Vodaphone network. Although I could see the actual communication tower the signal strength was not acceptable or capable of providing a basic service, we the requested a return to our previous reliable NBN12 service.
