Ikea Antilop Questions & Answers
VerifiedOne leg has got stuck and I cannot remove it. Any advice welcome please
Anyone have an advice that has had a similar experience with this highchair? My 1 year old shakes the chair whilst sitting in it and the chair easily slides around.
Is there a way to tell if the recalled straps, on the antelope, have been replaced? My straps are extremely secure as when I pull on them, but I don’t know whether or not they’ve been replaced. And the friend gave it to me doesn’t know

I have dogs that go under my ikea high chair when food is dropped. Is there any products like a fabric skirt or something that will deter dogs from going underneath?
Possibly
Does it mention to what weight the high chair can hold?
Sorry, not sure on that
Has anyone had an issue where a child pushed off from the kitchen table and fell over?
Hi Jessica,
This never happened to me and I would think they would need to be pretty strong to be able to do that. If you are worried I would suggest using the tray table that fits on.
Hope this helps,
CA
I would think it would be extremely unlikely due to the angle of the legs but as with all highchairs, probably not impossible. All highchairs of standard state in there guidelines to keep 1metre from benches etc and use with supervision.
Isn't the safety strap only there to stop your child from standing up? I don't think it matters whether it is 2 point or 5 point and would like to know whether this is genuinely an issue or something people just get on their high horse about without really thinking about it?
Mine can get out of a two pointed strap whereas a three or five point she can't. It is a safety issue if they stand up and fall
OK fair enough I understand it is a safety issue if they get up, just couldn't see how they could if they are strapped down to the bottom of the seat. I just bought the Aldi version which looks identical except it has a 2 point strap. Ikea is so hard to get to for me! Perhaps it is worth the journey to get the better harness for the same price. I need one of the cushions anyway.
For how long can this high chair be used for? It doesn't have a foot rest so is baby comfortable esp when they get older?
My child is 19 months and over and size and it's still fine. I imagine a foot rest would only be used as leverage to push out of the chair!
Is the cushion any good? My little guy can't quite sit by himself yet so he slides and flops around in the chair. Have been wedging him in with a rolled up towel - would the cushion rival my towel?
I didn't get the cushion. I fed my baby in a bouncer to start with.
I just use a normal cushion behind and it works well - as long as it fits behind baby no need to get any fancy cushion.
Has the belt strap been replaced with a more secure one considering it was recalled due to safety concerns?
Our chair was not affected by the recall, thanks.
I dont even use the strap.. it would be extremely difficult to fall out of this high chair. Would have to be at the age when an infant can climb
I need to get a replacement belt strap. Does anyone know how to go about this?
I just answered my own question! I rang their spare parts department and they were great- sent one out to me right away :-)
Is there a secret of getting your child in and out of this chair? I can't get the tray table off and really struggle to get my daughter in and out. What am I doing wrong??
I always grab my little one from behind the chair. As soon as I try to lift him from the side he starts to get stuck, There would be no way I could do it from the front.
I positioned the tray so that there is plenty of leg room to get toddler in and out without removing the tray. I use a silicon bib which has a litle scoop to catch any food that drops.
Has the antilop high chair been passed by Australian standards?
Hello Liesel, It says on the underside of the chair that it complies to Australian safety requirements as well as loads of other country's (as well as British standards). I know Ikea recalled some last year to put even stronger safety clips on the lap belt. I found the chair to be really safe. There is no foot rail which I like because it means the kids couldn't get a foothold to push them self up or out.
I hope this helps
