Yesterday I bought 3 items and they have self serve counters. No other options. A security guard was standing there watching me and others purchase the items which is fair enough. But at the time when you leave after the purchases, he rudely treats you like a criminal and his attitude in checking your receipt of what he just watched me purchase. I… Read more

felt like I was being scrutinised outside a nightclub checking my ID rather than a pleasant purchasing experience at IKEA. Maybe they should put customer service staff than try hard security checking these items.

If I could put a zero star, I would. The one star was for the experience related to the kitchen consultation and the ordering in store. We placed the order for an entire kitchen in June (week 1) for delivery in July (week 2). IKEA failed delivery not once, not twice but thrice. The entire interaction was IKEA promising and not delivering, unable… Read more

I approached a female staff member who was standing behind a display tent looking at her phone and applying lipstick. I politely said, “Excuse me, could you please help me?” and showed her the curtain information on my phone, explaining the situation. Without making eye contact or acknowledging me, she started making a phone call and pointed to my… Read more

phone, saying, “Keep it open.” Over the phone, she asked someone if they had the curtain "Dytag." I could not hear the other side of the conversation, but She began using profane language, repeatedly saying the F-word. After ending the call, she asked me to read out the product number. I did so—40519118—but she continued to swear under her breath during the entire interaction. I remained silent, but after watching her scroll on her phone for several minutes, I asked if she was still looking for the curtain. She responded, “Be patient. It’s not easy to find.” I told her I didn’t appreciate being told to be patient, especially while she was swearing in front of me. She replied, “I wasn’t swearing at you. I was talking to my friend.” I told her I believes in speaking respectfully, and I did not like hearing such language. At that point, I looked at her name badge, and she quickly covered it, asking, “Why are you looking at my name?” I didn’t respond. She then raised her hands and said, “Go and find it yourself,” and walked away. A few minutes later, she returned and asked to see my phone, demanding to know if I had written her name down. She told me it was illegal to do so and threatened to call security. I asked to speak to her manager, and she agreed, taking me to a manager nearby. When I tried to explain the situation to the manager, she kept interrupting. The manager asked her to stop and eventually sent her on a break. I was then able to explain everything, and the manager acknowledged that her behaviour was unacceptable. He apologised and asked how he could assist us further. At first, I considered letting the matter go, as I’ve always had positive experiences with IKEA in the past. However, this incident has stayed with me, and I felt compelled to share how distressing and disappointing it was to be treated in such a disrespectful way—as though I had done something wrong.

I do strongly feel that she would benefit from proper customer service training to ensure no other customer is treated the way I was.

Held captive until you have walked through the whole shop – Well I have just had my first and possibly my last shopping experience at IKEA. What did I know about IKEA before shopping there? That they were famous for their meatballs and that you have to assemble most products yourself. Now that didn't worry me. Being a female, I can read instructions and I have a plethora of Allen keys at my disposal.… Read more

Usually, I do all my shopping online because I have mobility issues, but after recently having a hip replaced I feel more able to venture out into the world. I had a couple of small items on my shopping list. In the interests of beautifying my home, I wanted a couple of vases and a couple of pot plant holders. I looked it up on IKEA online and thought I really should go and have a look at these in person and get a better idea of the sizes.

I was delighted to see plenty of mobility parking at the entrance of the store. I parked and walked in. Now whenever I go shopping the first thing I do is grab myself a trolley. This helps keep me upright and in walking condition. I looked around I could not see any trolleys. I asked the lady that was standing there greeting people and she told me, to my absolute horror, that the trolleys were in the middle of the store. WHO, WHO, WHO put trolleys in the MIDDLE of the shop?? But still I didn't see that it's too much of a problem. Most stores I go to you can just make a beeline to the middle of the store and grab yourself a trolley although I did start to gird my loins to make the trip to the middle without said trolley to lean on. I was also concerned because this looked like no store I'd been to before and I was worried that the entrance may not be the same as the exit. So I ask the lady can I leave through here as well (meaning that my car is parked right here in the disabled parking - can I leave through this same door?) She's told me yes without adding however you will have to walk 500 miles to get to the checkouts and if you wanted to leave through this door you'd have to walk 500 miles back.!

Anyway I walked in and was confounded by the meandering path that one had to take to shop there. Basically once you're in there you have to go where they tell you to go and walk in a torturous trail winding all the way through the store. You can’t escape or leave easily. You literally have to walk all the way through the shop to get to the exit. All I wanted were few items which apparently were at the end of the store. But I didn't know this and after walking for what seemed like 30 minutes I couldn't take another step. My arthritically riddled body was crying out in pain and I hadn't even seen a trolley. Then I saw a couple of girls wheeling the Holy Grail. I called out in my best sotto voce where did you get the trolley. To which they replied “we got ours outside”. Obviously savvy shoppers who'd been to IKEA before. I sat myself down on it what looked like a bench and almost cried. I had no idea how to get out of the store and everybody I asked it basically if go that way, then turn that way, then turn that way and then go that way. A gentleman wheeling a trolley walked by I asked him where he got his trolley from. He must have seen the desperation on my face and he very kindly and gallantly put his items into a bag and gave me his trolley. At least I had something to keep me upright now. I re-girded my loins and continued my journey.

At one stage I passed through a bedding department and although I was tempted to lie down and go to sleep I didn't. I did need a new pillow so I looked and found one to my liking only to find that I couldn't purchase it there or put it in my trolley there, I had to go to somewhere called the marketplace and find it there. I was starting to get frustrated again. I had to pass through the marketplace to get where I was going and saw the pillows, however after walking all that way, do you think I could remember the Swedish name of my chosen pillow. No. Anyway I finally found the department I was looking for right at the end of the shop only to find that the items I wanted were in something called the self serve. This is a cavernous place with shelves to the sky and no idea where the item is shelved. Finally I found a gentleman to help me and I got the two plant stands I wanted. I picked up a couple of vases and then headed towards the checkouts where some unfortunate young man made the mistake of asking me how I was. I proceeded to tell him exactly how I was. A lovely lady on an adjoining cash register told me that if I'd asked, somebody would've got me a trolley. Although I did ask and nobody got me trolleys. She also told me I could have left halfway through at the restaurant if I needed to. Will I go to IKEA again? I can see the appeal for the young and fit. Slap on a steps watch and you can get your exercising in for the day. For the age challenged and then mobility impaired IKEA may not be the store for you. We're obviously not their demographics because there is absolutely no consideration given that there might be people who can't walk 500 miles and are in constant pain. And yes, after paying and leaving the store, I had find and trek back to where I had parked my car.

If I do go back to IKEA it would be because of that lovely lady on the checkout called Y/ Jasmine and I will do so with a packed lunch, a water bottle, a map, a compass and an orienteering diploma. I will also take my walker that has a built in seat. But then I think I’m probably just better off going elsewhere. Photos attached of the cavernous self service where you have to find your item and also the trolley wheel to show I am not the only one pulling out my hair.

Great service, very good quality – I purchased an ikea kitchen, very good service helpful, their staff made it easy, installation 2 days of work and I was done. Read a lot of bad reviews on here, however I took my chances and I’m glad I did don’t let bad reviews hold you back, end of the day people with good reviews rarely write them up. If you install the kitchen properly no issues with anything. It’s a very smart system, built to last longer than a custom kitchen.  Show details

Accident from ikea furniture – I had an accident on a chair I bought from Ikea. The legs popped out of the wooden chair. Landed on my tail bone and ended up hurting my spine. Customer service – I have been a regular customer with IKea for past 35 years. Its culture has changed. No more customer focused as it was by the original owner ivodor. Now Ikea's customer service has plunged to dirt. No contact number to talk, can't reach via chat nor email or telephone. Their products might be OK, but Its so poor in client focus. They have become another budget service provider.

Finally organised the items to be ready and the courier picked them up. I try to get reimbursement for the invoice and they only gave me a partial reimbursement. Called back to get the rest and they refused! Despite having it in writing that they would reimburse the full amount after I paid it. Finally after arguing for 1.5 hours she reimbursed the full amount. Days and days I’ve spent trying to get this sorted out. Not for the faint hearted first timer - take a seasoned guide – I went to Ikea Marsden Park after a long time. I don't remember the store layouts on my best day, but was pressed for time this time and the experience was not pleasant. Right off the bat, let me reiterate, that the staff were extremely polite and well spoken, once you could find them, but they are all really busy with their assigned tasks (like… Read more

stacking items, counting with clipboards etc.) and said assigned tasks don't seem to include assisting disorientated customers with their piddly problems.

I checked the item I wanted to buy (I knew the item because I had looked for it online, but wanted to see how it felt before buying and hence the visit to the store) on the first screen as we walked in, and it said Aisle 44... but all the boards only said it was Aisle 1 - 27, and I was confused.

The place was chock full of, what seemed to be earnest youth - singles/couples - who seemed to have come for an indoor air-conditioned hike, with joggers and waterbottle to boot, as it was one of the hottest days in decades but the fact so many were there was hardly the fault of Ikea.

I was geographically lost right from the first signboard, and after looking for someone to ask, eventually found a keen young man who, although he couldn't tell me exactly where, he could, and did, direct me: right, right , left, right, take a shortcut through something or the other, then right, left etc. After navigating the first part of that directed maze, I needed to ask another staffer, who guided me on... while thus traversing the maze I came across others who were equally lost, and sometimes couples blaming each other and looking cross, not because of furntiture or choice thereof, but because they were also lost.

Finally after voyaging for more than half an hour, I managed to find the area, and then, hallelujah, the item I had my eye on, it looked perfect for what I had in mind. I needed a set of drawers (also had this researched) but couldn't see it in the vicinity, and after some mouse-maze running located it, but (again not Ikea's fault) perched alonside it on what looked to be fairly comfortable chairs and having a deep life conversation were a father and daughter duo, who did not want to move and had cut access off to the drawers, I mulled around for 5 more minutes, then a quick "excuse me" to take a picture of the drawer set, and the pic wasn't enough to base a decision on, so gave up on the drawers.

Ofcourse, I couldn't buy the item there (that would have been too straightforward), nor could I even order it there, and I had to find aisle 44... nowhere on their many direction board was anything larger than aisle 27 mentioned... so hoping for the best proceeded towards checkout and did indeed find these aisles hiding just before checkout. Managed to pickout and carry on a box (take a friend it's impossible to put them on the trolleys by yourself). There was no queue at the checkout (although the large number of people inside made me to expect otherwise) so self-checkout was fast and quick.

Assembly was straightforward and there were no missing parts and took less time than shopping. When you go into a shop knowing exactly the product you want, and it takes you half an hour to get to it because of confusing mazes, that is unforgivable. This is certainly not for first timers. Suggest you take someone who's been there before if you are going as the store layout borders on the insane for the first time buyer. Not everyone is familiar with the Ikea lingo (what is "self-assembly-furniture-area"? - I thought I'd find people assembling furniture there) and for them to expect people to know their lingo first time is very immature. Also a few customer focused assistants would go a long way in alleviating maze-mouse pain. Now that I know a bit about the layout, I could probably make my next visit (if it is in the near future) less painful. I might go back for the drawers.

So the main gripe is the lack of clarity in navigating the store and buying process for the first time shopper. Second gripe is lack of customer focused assistants (we know labour is expensive but a few can't hurt a giant like Ikea?)

The plus points are that the people I did speak to were very pleasant, though their instructions needed to be rather complex to navigate the maze. The furniture designs are very practical and assembly was straightforward. The books are also in an Ikea prorprietary drawing only way, and the pics could be a bit larger, but these, unlike the store-maze, are easy to get used to.

All in all I expected an easier navigating experience. Not all of us have a natural sense of direction, and how do you expect us to know where aisles greater than 27 are, when they don't appear on any of the signboards? I am sure you have a map somewhere which shows the whole layout, maybe that could be handed out at reception? If engineers designed the roads and road signage expecting everyone to know their way, that would lead to chaos and accidents. The signs are designed for first time users primarily and that is the way store signage should be, too.

of my order same day in the afternoon and it was showing ready for dispatch! I called IKEA No and no one answered . I rechecked on Saturday and the status hadn’t changed ! I called for second time and I was waiting on the line for 45 min and no one answered . Today I went to another IKEA at Rhodes as it was closer to my place and asked their customer service for assistance and they said they can’t help as the purchase is relevant to another Ikea warehouse not them . Again I called IKEA and this time after 20 min I was successful to talk to someone. He couldn’t find out why the delivery never happened . Anyway delivery is rebooked for this coming Wednesday but when I asked for a confirmation text or email their answer was negative!!!! After insisting by me for 5 min finally it was accepted to send me an email and finally I received it . Honestly was not a good experience at all . The other annoying issue is missing part after purchasing products that it is ridiculous. It seems that their policy is to oversell a limited number of products to many customers, meaning that many customers who have ordered and paid miss out. Then I spent more than 1 hour over many phone calls chasing items missing or not delivered . Also I was forced to drive all the way back to Ikea and purchase the missing part and collect it and come back again !! Ikea should pay me for the many hours I spent chasing up my goods. Now I have booked for assembly next Saturday and I hope this time they don’t let me down although I have read lots of bad reviews in productreview website about their assembly team as well . I feel I made a mistake !☹️☹️☹️ Here is update after 1 week Assembly was booked from 2 weeks ago for last Saturday 1/10/22. During the week I was receiving 3 to 4 phone calls from install Ezi asking me about photo of furniture that I had purchased which was so weird as they had my PO number and as professional assembly team of IKEA they were able to see everything. I talked to the first guy and asked him about it but he did not have any answer . Anyway I made lots of snapshots from pictures of purchased furniture from IKEA website and made a pdf file and emailed it to InstallEzi . The day after someone else from them called me and asked the same thing . And the next day third person called again and asked for the same thing . I was shocked and stressed . 3 phone calls from same team in 3 days for same question shows how bad that team is and they are not communicating with each other . Anyway I tried to stay optimistic till last Friday . It was 1 PM Friday and no one from IKEA or InstallEzi called me to reconfirm time of attendance at my place on Saturday and I was getting worried about it so I decided to call InstallEzi myself . The operator was totally lost and said he is surprised that why no one has called me !! And said we can’t start assembly tomorrow as per booked schedule . I was expecting that honesty. Asked her to inform IKEA to call me urgently as it was booked 2 weeks earlier !! After 30 min IKEA called me and informed me that assembly date for Saturday is cancelled !!! I said I know because I chased it myself and expect you to fix your mistake . She said is just informing me.I was totally frustrated and asked to talk to operation supervisor . The supervisor offered 2 options . Reschedule assembly for next 2 weeks plus $100 reimbursement or cancel the whole order and refund the money !Today I contacted IKEA and was on the phone for about 1 hour in total. Finally cancelled order but they want ot charge me for pick up and return ! I have already submitted a complaint to ACCC but I don’t think they can help .

I have to drive three hours to get to an Ikea, no way am I spending six hours on the road then another six hours driving back and forth across Sydney cause Ikea can't be bothered transferring stock.

Will just go buy other stuff from another retailer, they obviously don't want my two grand.

Card payment only DISAPPOINTMENT – After spending some time in lockdown due to the COVID-19 finally at the end of May I decided to visit the IKEA store at Marsden Park in order to get some furniture. I always loved their product and would shop there quite often. Just before entering the store I was told by the security personnel that IKEA stopped accepting Cash payments and Card… Read more

payments would be the only option to be used. My DISAPPOINTMENT was so great that I left immediately and decided not to shop at any IKEA store ever again. As I work in retail sector as well I can confirm that this was the only company so far to make such a payment change. Using the disease as an excuse to implement the payment rules sounded really wrong. Also, I believe that we all work hard to earn our money and should be at least given the freedom to decide the way of payment we would like to use. Therefore, I will never shop at ikea any more!!!!!

Bed Frame, Mattress – I bought Ikea Queen Bedframe MALM with Mattress on 2/5/20 with delivery option. I was promised for delivery on 3/5/20 on the Invoice. It finally partially delivered on 4/5/20 with no reasons for partial delivery. After trying hours for their contact center and listening all rubbish from the automated phone options, finally I was able to speak to… Read more

the Customer Care and they told missing bed frame is due to out of stock and advised me to keep checking with Ikea after few days and request them to resend the missing part. Customer care never acknowledged that they will make sure to deliver the missing part and stating that it is customer responsibility to keep following up till the delivery of the missing part and I am still chasing them for the whole week spending lot of time and unable to reach their contact centers as the phone continuously busy and my problem still not resolved. Ikea products may be good but their supply chain, customer care is so pathetic and made me losing the trust on Ikea brand.

Unprofessional customer support team and poor delivery – Spent a few thousands in Ikea due to moving into a new house. Had to call them 3 times to notify that they still have pieces and products missing. The last time I called some rude lady by the name of “Maria” from the customer support team in Nsw (could be a fake name) was so rude and did not try to help rectify my situation. It was like she just… Read more

wanted to hang up. It was not like a spent a few hundreds, I spent over $5000 and I would at least like my money’s worth in service as well! Poor customer service definitely wont be going back to Ikea ever again! If I could, I would’ve loved to return these products for a refund!

Terrible delivery service – Just cancelled my order because the delivery service is terrible. The deliver guys didn't complete the job and told me that they are not allowed to take the goods on the stairs if there are more than 30 steps. which is ridiculous and i wasn't expecting IKEA to sub contract these unprofessional people for their delivery services my first and last IKEA purchase Show details

Misleading information from customer services – Bought a mattress topper used it for couple of days not happy with it, looked at return policy and called customer services to confirm I can return it for refund, they even checked with there manager, take to store purchases from with receipt for refund, drove 30 mins to find I can only exchange for a different topper, not wanting another topper,… Read more

I asked for a store credit, that was refused. I understand it’s used but to only be able to get another girl me was wrong if I got a store credit I would still be spending money in ikea. Both times I called customer services from my mobile I waiting over 20 mins. Will never shop at ikea again.
