Incident Report: Toilets Out of Order – IKEA Rhodes Location: IKEA Rhodes – Toilets near the restaurant Date/time. 26/10. 1.30pm approx Description of Incident: Upon visiting the toilets near the restaurant at IKEA Rhodes, I discovered that all facilities were completely out of order there was no running water available and toilets were all… Read more
used and not flushed. Despite this, people were still using the toilets, resulting in a very unhygienic and unpleasant mess. I immediately reported the issue to three staff members nearby. However, they appeared unsure of what to do and did not take immediate action.
This delay mean’t more people were still visiting the toilets and leaving without not cleaning their hands due to no water supply in the toilets.
This was an extremely disgusting sight to walk into and the lack of urgency from the staff.
Ikea is accepting payment for goods and then selling the goods to someone else before delivering – I worked with an Ikea kitchen planner staff member and ordered over $8000.00 worth of goods which I paid for in full on January 11, 2025. Ikea has failed to deliver these goods because they no longer have all the items I paid for in stock. I post this as a warning that Ikea is accepting money for goods and not reserving that stock after payment,… Read more
or they are selling items which are not in stock even though they have been ordered with an Ikea staff member who assured that they were in stock when ordered. I have cancelled my kitchen order because Ikea cannot deliver in a reasonable timeframe. At 11.05pm the night before the booked delivery date (Tuesday 21 January 2025) Ikea texted that they could not deliver any items the next day because some of the paid for items were no longer in stock. No one from Ikea contacted me until the Wednesday and I could not get through on the help line after 30 minutes of trying on the Tuesday. The earliest delivery date I am now offered is 4th February 2025, I cannot trust Ikea to deliver on that date as I see online many of the items I ordered and paid for are now marked as sold out.

10 yr guarantee SCAM on couches – This is a review to give you all A HEADS UP on the scam they are using regarding buying couches. They say it comes with 10 yr guarantee which is NOT TRUE. After i bought my couch 3 years ago, the side (arm rest) became loose and squeaky, as i took it in for repair they informed me it was discontinued and they cant do anything. They got someone to… Read more
check it and i was told this is normal for a couch!!! The supervisor ([Name Removed]) said in a condescending way ”this is normal and expected”! What a joke, i wont get into how he spoke or even what I witnessed “bully behaviour and talking down to staff”
Once i took the couch back home and upon checking it further i noticed the nails have come off. I will add photos to this post so others are aware. (In one of the photos i show the nut they added, they claim it was missing! The couch actually does not come with a nut and its not suppose to be there (that was NOT a solution))
DO NOT fall for the 10 yr guarantee scam.

Not good with pram – You can’t start on the top floor with a trolley which is really annoying if you have a young child in tow. Once you are on the lower floor you can get a trolley there but would be so much easier to start with a trolley to put the child into and buy more. Instead you either take a pram which is super cramped with or walk around with them until the second floor and then into the trolley
You asked for my opinion and half way through it, it disappeared – It was the first time I bought a larger item from you. Overall ....and in hindsight...It was fun. Nobody else has the selection of freestanding wardrobes. Designing it on the computer was a bit above me, but my daughter did most of it. Rhodes did not have all the pieces and we were told Tempe would have them, which unfortunately was not true.… Read more
Collecting all the bits and pieces, was fun, thanks to my daughter. I cannot imagine, doing it on my own or on a weekend. But I suppose THAT IS MY PROBLEM. I love the piece we bought and I am happy the way the delivery went. But I did expect some instructions how to put it together Otherwise I think the whole concept is great. Thank you margrit macri
Have bought from ikea for years and always had excellent service.. Even on returns – I have never used IKEA delivery but my experience with the store has always been great. I have returned faulty and items I just didn't like and never had a problem. I have waited a few times but only if they are busy. Went there today and social distancing was not happening at all so I didn't stay long. Show details

Very flat drinks which used to be carbonated and have bubbles – Ikea already knows that their restaurant is a drawing point and attracts customers and creates a cozy environment, this is why they keep them around. The food is decent for the price point. I did notice however that their berry red soda was flat (on all available drink machine dispensers) when it used to be bubbly before. The "apple cider" white… Read more
soda also didn't have the same taste as before where it actually tasted like bubbly apple cider. This time round it tasted like straight lemonade. Also wish they sold soup here, especially for the winter season.
What's with that IKEA?
On the positive side, coffee is good and so are the servers and customer service. It's nice to have a meal and drinks there.
Please don't let standards drop with respect to the drinks because people notice that it's not the same taste and 'texture' (with the carbonated bubbles) as before.
I was their biggest fan before this happened! – *UPDATE* After still not receiving any response, I called again. I told them about contacting the ACCC and about this review. They could not find my emails so I resent them. The operator said it should have been handled straight away by Ikea Rhodes. After lots of time on hold and being transferred to different people, almost 40 minutes later I… Read more
was finally able to put in my details for a refund. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Made another call and was given a new email address to write to. Was assured it would be followed up straight away, still no response. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Made a complaint to the ACCC so they can take some compliance or enforcement action but I believe that they look at complaints mainly where there is a safety issue. If anyone can suggest other avenues to reach out to, and if anyone else has a similar issue, please please let me know via private message. Keen to take this further if there are enough people experiencing similar issues. As one customer, it's only a small amount of $ but it seems Ikea (especially the Rhodes store) is doing this type of thing a lot, it is deceitful and an unfair way of overcharging their customers, as well as wasting our time! ORIGINAL MESSAGE BELOW Ducked into Ikea while on a trip to Sydney for medical reasons. Was overcharged for two sets of lights. They were clearly marked as being on sale at $5 each set but I was charged $12 per set. Bought what I thought was as a SET of curtains off marketplace, down from $25 to $15. Labeled and rung up as a pair, came home to find there was only one curtain. Called them and was told I need to come in store for them to review video footage of the day. Told them I am heading home and live 4+ hours away and that this was an unreasonable ask even for locals. - Live chatted with Ikea online, no resolution - Lodged a complaint via the website, No resolution - Sent an email with the exact receipt they had emailed me, was told I need the paper receipt. - Sent photo of paper receipt. Was told they would get back to me - Sent three more emails, each time being told via automated response they would get back to me Still no response. - Have sent at least 4 more emails to try and get a refund. Feel this is Ikea’s way of trying to get customers to give up, it has been over 6 months since my original contact with them about this. I can't help but see their initial overcharging, making customers go in store to "view footage" and their subsequent lack of response as a way to get customers to give up. I used to love Ikea but they obviously don't care about their customers anymore.
IKEA is too difficult to deal with anymore – I purchased a queen bed and was not told about having to buy the slats separately. So I went back and was sold the wrong slats and so so had to go back a third time to get the right ones but had to wait 30 mins to be seen my someone who didn’t know what slats I needed either. The website says I must use a certain slat that goes with the bed but the instructions say differently. IKEA has become too difficult to deal with anymore Show details

Overpriced and not worth it!! – Have used IKEA several times. It’s an over priced store. For instance a baby changing mat is 35$ when it’s available for 15$ in other stores. Similarly almost all the items there are over priced and you don’t get any value for what you are buying. The cupboard that we got from there is not of a good quality.
Too inefficient to go back there !!!! – Such a poor customer service they canceled their technical service which was with Assemble Anything company last minute, making excuses, there's no efficient communication between their staff and departments !! AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE – I am deeply sorry to hear about your negative experience at Ikea Rhodes. It is truly disappointing to learn that not only did the store's security staff treat you poorly, but also that they made false accusations against you. Privacy and respect for customers should always be a top priority for any establishment, and it is concerning to hear that… Read more
Ikea Rhodes failed to uphold these standards.
Furthermore, it is disheartening to hear that the security officer representing Ikea Rhodes made baseless claims without providing any evidence to support their accusations. This kind of behavior is not only unethical but also undermines the trust that customers place in the store. It is crucial for businesses to treat their customers with fairness and integrity, and it seems that Ikea Rhodes has fallen short in this regard.
Your review also mentions a specific piece of furniture that does not exist in Ikea's catalog or stock globally, but was claimed to have been taken. This raises serious concerns about the credibility of the accusations made against you. It is essential for Ikea Rhodes to thoroughly investigate such claims and provide concrete evidence before making accusations against their customers.
Your experience highlights the need for significant changes in Ikea Rhodes' policies and management. Customers should always feel safe and respected when shopping at any store, and it is imperative for Ikea Rhodes to address these issues and improve their customer service. It is unfortunate that your experience has left you feeling claustrophobic and panicked, and I completely understand your decision to no longer visit the store.
I sincerely hope that Ikea Rhodes takes your feedback seriously and takes immediate steps to rectify the situation. It is crucial for them to prioritize customer satisfaction and ensure that incidents like yours do not occur again in the future. Additionally, it is important for them to thoroughly investigate any claims made against customers and provide evidence before making accusations.

DONT EVER BUY FROM IKEA. THEIR DELIVERY SYSTEM IS HORRIBLE – Sorry for my bad english. My family moved to a apartment and buy all new furniture from IKEA. It cost nearly 10k include 3 beds, sofa, chairs and tables. We have schedule the delivery will be on 29/9. They sent me a message that it will come around 12pm-4pm. call me so I called IKEA. They said they can’t delivery today and have to reschedule on Saturday. No message or call received when they unable to deliver my order, I have to call in. We have arrange people to assemble however it have to delay to Sat. Then on Sat they arrived and call me there’s no parking for the truck, my friend had parked near the entry but they required 2 car space. It was absolutely terrible service. They never told me we need to arrange parking slot beforehand when I’m buying stuff. Then they cancelled my order and reschedule again on Monday (03.10) it is Labour Day. I call IKEA and one of the team member said I need to read the terms and conditions it required parking slot and she will reschedule and it definitely arrive by Monday. I asked her multiple times to ensure it will arrive on Monday because it’s long weekend so my family can stay home and assemble everything. On monday, I received a message that they will come around 1pm-5pm. Then around 2:30pm I called IKEA and they said it have to be reschedule again because ANC (delivery company) havent return the order to IKEA so they can’t delivery. It was absolutely frustrated and horrible. They said that ANC is different to IKEA, it can’t be a reasonable excuses. They are responsible to working together to meet customer demand not to blame to others and force me as a customer to accept their faults. My family have no bed to sleep for a week because their crap delivery system. I have rostered on public holiday to work and get double pay but I refused because I thought they will deliver on time. Who gonna pay me for a double pay day? We already schedule everything and on the weekend because my family doesnt go to work. They reschedule again for Wednesday (03.10) but no one at home we are working. I asked if they can delivery after 3pm they said they can’t arrange it between 10am-7pm. I told them how can you make sure it come on Wednesday because everytime I called in IKEA literally told me definitely will come on that day. Even send me a message to confirm. It was my first time buying from IKEA but I swear I wont never buy from them again ever.
Customer Service non existent - No items on display to see – First visit to a IKEA Store. Was looking for a Bathroom vanity. No items on display execpt for frames so went looking for a Staff member to help me. After 15 minutes of looking found a Staff member in another dept. Said I was looking for help with a vanity. to get help I asked to be shown how to get out of the maze I was in. The Staff member took me to a exit, at least he was helpful at something letting me out of the in turnstile. Will never go to IKEA again. Werst, experience I have ever had trying to buy something. Also I would have to drive 5 minutes to get this item from their warehouse, paying before I leave the shop and not seeing a demo model before purchasing. Staff member was totally disinterested in what I was asking about.
Buyback items will all be categorised as 'well used' even if there are no visible scratches or even dirt on them – Sent a couple of furniture for Ikea's buy back scheme. The desk agent I attended to was gracious enough to inform me to wipe away some tape residue on the table so she can give me the better category for the buyback and thus more money. Table is in very good. Out come the manager and straightaway told her to categorise it as 'well used' (worst… Read more

I think he knows people will not lug the furniture back once taken to Ikea for buyback and pretty much just buyback cheapest possible. Yea, Ikea Rhodes might have made a few extra dollars but at the cost of it's business integrity.
Utterly disappointing! – Several items were purchased yesterday (May 16) for delivery TODAY, May 17. The IKEA staff made the mistake of ordering three pieces of an item which I ordered for only one. the delivery TODAY and just RETURN the two excess items. In short, I will have the added burden of bringing these two items back to IKEA. The customer service staff at Ikea Rhodes actually expressed disappointment as, according to him, a similar mistake already happened (four times) that day. So my case was the 5th!! Since the delivery was scheduled today, my wife and I had to cancel all our appointments just so there will be someone who will receive the delivery. The designated contact person was my daughter who, at around 11AM today, was informed that the items were already on the way. With no call or delivery from 11AM to 3PM, my daughter followed up the delivery by calling at around 3:14PM, only to be told that the delivery can no longer be made today or tomorrow. The customer relations guy said that the driver's justification was that he was calling my daughter earlier this afternoon. BUT MY DAUGHTER NEVER GOT ANY CALL or ANY SMS (TEXT MESSAGE). So now, we not only have the burden of returning two excess items, we also are NOT YET INFORMED WHEN THE DELIVERY WILL ACTUALLY BE DONE! This is just so disappointing... and unacceptable!
Disgusting customer service by Rabina and Subeshka at the bistro – I was buying $1 hotdogs to offer boys after the training which I had to takeaway as it’s 5 minutes drive and those two ladies were so discriminating as they refused to offer me a paper plate rather they giving them in a paper tissue and customer with a child ( not being a white lady) received one upon asking .Please IKeA do yourself a favour and teach those young ladies how to serve a customer as they do in Europe . Pathetic delivery service - – I buy at least multiple flatpack kitchens per year. Instore staff are fantastic. Ikea delivery (ANC) is pathetic. Last deliveries, ANC they have missed 4 times, whilst sending text all day. Still no delivery
Getting in touch with Ikea by phone, don't bother unless you have a spare 1 continuous hour. The staff can't help you as ANC (the courier) cant tell them anything, so Ikea staff just apologise.. Don't bother trying to find a way to do it online. there's no way.
They take you money fast & delivery only a promise. This has to be somehow a consumer law breach as I didn't purchase a promise.

Coercive store layout, untrustworthy staffs and absolutely no customer service – Needed some furniture and my wife thought IKEA might be worth looking at. Finally we were at the checkout, no very long queue but took long time to get someone attending us. The all drama started. Despite being prompted he scanned wrong item, the checkout staff still scanned wrong items and over charged us. Till then, it was well over 2 hours. To fix it, we had to go to customer service desk. Since there were only around 10 people and I thought it should be quick so decided to read some news while waiting. When i checked time again, it was over 40 minutes later and there were still a couple of people in front of me. There was not much point to continue waiting so I left and lodged a complaint online. It's now well over one month, no one contacted me just like nothing happened. Tried to call them, and it was never picked up.
The only good thing was that I did not buy anything worthy from them on that day and I already find out what is going to look like when someone need customer service from them without purchasing anything expensive.
Vilmar Chairs - No spare fixtures – We purchase a house full of furniture at Rhodes. It was a nightmare. After we’d selected all, we then find out many of the products We not available. We called and ikea say that part is ‘out of production’ !!! I found an after market product but the seller was a scammer and sells but no delivery. Now we have a full dining set of 6 chairs that are unsafe in another country. This is pathetic. So angry with place after spending $8,000+ on products. How can they get away with this ?? No answers, no responses. Dead on the line. Nice customer service IKEA.
Bad service – The worst clients & products service I see in my life .. missing parts, bad quality, misbehaving staff, long waiting on phone, they just appear nice before fishing customers, after buying they never care !!! ...

If you want cheap items and a massive headache, go with IKEA. We are doing our bathroom now and we will NOT work with IKEA.
Two faulty products. Zero refund response – I have had two faulty pieces delivered. I’ve tried on several platforms to simply speak to someone about getting a refund. I’m so defeated over jt. I can’t believe a global store can’t be bothered to respond
