I've been using InsureandGo for many years now. For every international trip I do. I will not go with another after a freak accident I had in Hawaii where I fell off a 3m ledge and survived with only bruising, concussion, a large bump on the head and a sprained pinky finger. care of EVERYTHING. It is SO important to take out travel/medical insurance...dont think it will never happen to you or your precious family! I was travelling for work while in Bali and both my friend and I became incredibly unwell. We ended up both on IVs. The doctor and nurse actually came to our hotel. They were amazing..the care was second to none! The insurance company I had intially taken out a policy with was not helpful and declined our claim! Which in hindsight was a godsend as I then found Insurengo and never looked back! On my last trip to the US and found Insurengo at least $200 cheaper than the other company's out there. I have also recommended this amazing company to others who have found feeling safe and kmowing its an Australian owned and operated group! Went to Thailand. Declared a pre existing condition being atrial flutter which was accepted. Unfortunately, on arrival in Koh Samui I had a flare up and had to go to hospital via ambulance. When assessing my claim, the company stated I had not… Read more
declared heart failure (which it was not - its just one of my prescriptions is also for that in other people). I DO NOT HAVE HEART FAILURE! Then they said I did not declare a pacemaker (I tried to declare this but you could not on their site as it is a part of the original condition declared) I was not appreciative of basically being told I was a liar. They then said they wanted a release of my medical records in Australia which I had to do by phone typing in the hospital bed. While all this was going on the hospital would not treat me without me paying $5000 as the insurance would not clear me at this point. I had no alternative but to pay. Shortly after and many calls from Thailand to them in Australia they agreed to cover my declared condition. They did not even ask for my medical records to be released. Meanwhile the hospital said the $5000 paid would take about 20 days for a refund. I then had a further follow up appointment in Samui and then in Bangkok later. On both occasions I could not leave the hospital until the company approved the expense even though they had stated they had given pre approval. I waited over 2 hours on each occasion and in Bangkok had my driver waiting with me at a further cost. After many emails I asked that my treatment be considered a complaint. Nothing happened even after they said I would be contacted within 2 days. They went to close my file and I asked about my complaint and their response was - sorry we will get them now to contact you. I gave up at that point just glad that I was home and vowing to never use them again for travel insurance.
Follow-up · Follow up - I received an apology from the company, no refund and no compensation from them. They did pay out the medical bills eventually. The Bangkok hospital was wonderful as was my medical treatment in Thailand. The pacemaker was covered as Insure and go admitted that their system would not let me declare it. Would I use them again? No.

BEWARE Insure&Go for VERY HIGH Travel Insurance Policy Cancellation Fees. I recently Paid $386.36 for an International Travel Insurance Policy with Insure&Go for my Wife & I. I answered all their Questions honestly and truthfully. However, subsequent to my Application, an unexpected Health event occurred which impacted my Wife. This event was… Read more
clearly a NON pre-existing Health issue. However, I decided to contact Insure&Go to check with them re this unexpected event. This to confirm if my Wife was still FULLY covered by this Policy.
Insure&Go dutifully trotted out their definition of a Pre-Existing Health issue. After their response, I still had lingering doubts as to whether Insure&Go would honour the "small print" in their TI Policy.
So... later and after the Cooling Off Period had expired, I decided to lodge a query about a Cancellation Refund.
For Travel Insurance Cancellations after the Cooling Off Period has expired - the Insure&Go Website states...
QUOTE ... a Pro Rata Refund will be issued LESS Government Charges and Taxes. UNQUOTE
THERE IS NO MENTION OF A/ANY ADDITIONAL SERVICE FEE.
Insure&Go (only) offered me a $187.27 Pro Rata Refund.
This is LESS than half of my original Purchase price of $386.36 !!!
In Victoria, Stamp Duty and GST are both nominally 10% each. So... Fees & Charges were approx $75.
That clearly indicates Insure&Go have retained a HUGE Service Fee of approx $125 for this Cancellation request.
When I queried the LOW magnitude of this Refund, Insure&Go replied with this...
QUOTE ... refunds are calculated follows the process set by AFCA (The Australian Financial Complaints Authority). UNQUOTE
With no apparent recourse available... all I can say is this...
BEWARE Insure&Go for VERY HIGH Policy Cancellation Fees.
Since I have proof that my Wife's unexpected Health issue was only "actioned" AFTER the Date I paid for this Travel Insurance Policy, I have decided NOT to follow thru with a Cancellation Request.
However, I will NEVER again use Insure&Go for my future Travel Insurance needs.
Again I close with this...

cost of getting coverage for one obscure pre-existing condition and one standard condition.
Previously years before I had been refused coverage by Qantas Insurance and Covermore but it was never an issue with insure and go.
I happened to book a family overseas holiday just before the covid pandemic. With only 2 weeks until departure the holiday was cancelled by my booking company because of border restrictions. Their insurance is reasonably priced, quick and easy to set up. I have booked with InsureandGo with every holiday since, at least 3 times. I feel it is not worth booking holiday insurance if I don't know that they will deliver the service when needed. Therefore I continue to book with InsureandGo as they are a proven service for me.
