Janome 8002DX Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy Janome model 8002DX the pressure foot lifter doesn’t work, how can I fix it
I have Janome overlocker 800 2DX I have good quality thread and the right needles it just continually breaks the thread and it’s even on right tension and threaded right?.
You need to thread the orange and blue first then the others.
Pull it all out and re-thread the machine, following the thread guide as to order... even if you did it right first time, sometimes thread can jump off hooks. Thread quality - you can get a bad reel, even in the best brands, so take all thread brand claims with a large pinch of salt. Sometimes it will break if there's a buildup of fabric dust within the machine. Give it a thorough clean as well.
Change needles often. use polyester quality thread
I'm interested in a Janome 8002DX. Does anyone have a recent review on one. All the reviews I've read are old & people are having trouble with Treading & Tension.
Hi Shirley, my review is very recent as I purchased my Janome 8002DX earlier this year. I haven't had any issues with threading and I find it very easy. Obviously there is a learning time involved but there are very clear graphics inside the cover to assist. On the issue of tension, I mostly have no issue with it at all. Once I have the tension right for regular overlocking, I don't find I need to alter it. The only time I did need to adjust it was when I tried out the blind hemming function, which didn't really work at all. I decided that blind hemming was better on my sewing machine instead, but still needs some work to get it right. The tension does need to be altered very slightly for different types of fabrics, but this is to be expected. If you follow the extensive manuals provided, you shouldn't have any issues. They provide a regular manual that tells you about all the parts and basics and a second manual that shows you how to create all the different stitches. I am still very happy with this overlocker and am delighted for the price and what it does. I hope this is helpful :)
What about if you live hundreds of miles out in the bush? Has anyone found a link on youtube maybe? I can't afford to spend $$ if I can't use it!! Debbie
If you live in the bush (Australia) then Draft Depot could deliver to your door. Janome Australia has "How to videos" external link Plus there are so many YouTube tutorials available, e.g: external link or external link Hope that helps =)
Ooops, I meant Craft Depot
external link
Thanks for your reply.....just worried about spending $$ and not being able to get he benefits! Cheers
There is also a sight called "Pinterest" and they have some tips on using a serger. I have picked up a few helpful hints from this site which solved a couple of problems for me. It is just a matter of persevering. I tried to do everything the machine was capable of in the first few days (I am a bit impatient!!) and this caused a lot of frustration. I am so glad I persevered with it.
Hi Debbie, contact Shelley from Sew Much Easier. I purchased an overlocker & sewing machine combo from her which included the Janome 8002DX and she was incredibly helpful, both before the sale and afterwards. She has a range of useful tutorials for you and is able to answer some immediate questions after the sale to get you started. She ships anywhere in Australia. She has a web site or you can go through eBay. The transactions are protected if you pay via PayPal but you wouldn't need to worry about that with Shelley as she is a good business woman. I'm pretty tough in my review of companies and products so I can say very fairly that I'm delighted with my purchase and would happily purchase from Shelley again. Also, on the issue of learning, Craftsy.com has some amazing tutorials that are well worth the money. I have purchased quite a few and some of them are up to 9 hours of high quality video. Just like being in a classroom really. I am an ex teacher so I'm also picky about tutorials that I use. Hope this is helpful :)
Had to re thread the green looper and after I had done that, the machine keeps snapping the RH needle. Don't know why. Any advice would be appreciate?
The needle threads need to be replaced last so as not to run under the loopers, which will cause the thread to break in middle of sewing. Even if needles don't need rethreading you still need to cut them at the needle (carefully pull out a longer length so that you do not lose the ends) and re-insert into needles after loopers are done. See Nancy Zieman's "Serge with Confidence" or similar guides for practical advice and inspiration.
Reading this has me concernned. Is Jemome ableto assist when it comes to rethreading?
Yes they offer lessons, find your nearest dealers
