Disrespectful and Disgraceful – It has been 14 years since handover, and we still live in a home plagued by defects. Unfinished render work, leaking ceiling, water damaged architraves, skirts and walls, unpainted patchwork where holes were cut in the ceiling and walls on several occasions. decaying and left untreated and unpainted, and bent guttering with brackets rendered over after patch work attempts. After water poured in through a ceiling (video attached) we had to sadly rip up a much loved $20,000 floor, due to warping and the increasing smell of mold. All they offered us were dehumidifiers that ran for weeks at our expense. By the time the dehumidifiers arrived, it was too late. the floor could not be saved. They refused to replace the floor as well. Externally, our rear façade is an absolute mess due to numerous quick fix attempts. We have not had a single year in this house without defects causing us emotional and financial hardship. Now JG King have decided that because the time frame has been too long, they will no longer be addressing any of the defects any further. Too long...hello! The defects date back to handover and have never been resolved. I really didn't want to go down the path of legal or media action, but I believe that I now have no further choice, they have wiped their hands of us. I urge anyone building a new home, make sure you are completely happy before handover, do not take their word "we'll fix it" these words mean nothing if not in a contract. All the broken promises they have made are incredible. Their attempted rectification work over the years has been careless and destructive and could easily lend itself to a current affair style program. They have defaced our property and left the damage for us to now pay to have fixed. It has left us out of pocket and emotionally drained.

Dishonest! - We found a big crack in brick from the roof to the ground outside of the house on Jan 2022, the private inspector told us that has been repaired, but JG King never told us about this issue.

No communication & Terrible customer experience! - After sending an inspection report to Bendigo JG King, then they told me the construction manager was on annual leave and will come back next week, but it has been a month already, I am still waiting for their response, even though the construction manager's house just in a couple of blocks away from my house. What a great after-sale service.

Talya helped us with color selection, she is one extremely helpful and patient lady, we changed our minds more times than I could count and she emended our plans every time with a supportive attitude, once at construction build went smoothly, (5 month build) warrick looked after us and was very helpful and kept us up to date and well informed during the entire build, we had minimal defaults after completion, however those took 5 months to fully rectify, otherwise JGking have built us a beautiful home which we think was great value for money, they have many standard inclusions not offered by other builders, would have given 5 star rating if contracting stage was less frustrating, however would build with JG king again despite these issues.

Just want to say this is my second house i built with JG King home and I have to admit both house has been awsome experience and the 2nd house I had problems with council and the team helped me out to get it sorted. The colour palletes made making design decisions much easier. Additionally, their pricing and capacity to build a double garage home on such as small lot was a winning factor. Overall happy with the process from signed contract, to the work commencing took less then a year and we were in our brand new house. build, R consistently kept us informed and promptly addressed all of our questions and concerns. This gave us great confidence that our home was in good hands, even without being on site regularly.

Our site supervisors, C and D, were both highly professional and provided regular updates and photos throughout the build, which we truly appreciated. Any concerns we raised were handled promptly and professionally, and we could not have asked for better communication or support.

The build was completed well ahead of schedule, which was helped by our decision not to make changes during construction.

We built the Belmore, and at a total of 35 sqm our build was completed within 10 months. The construction phase was almost seamless. As with any build, it’s important to keep a close eye on progress to ensure everything is on track; however, anything I identified was either quickly rectified or already being addressed by our supervisor. Our supervisor, Justin, was very communicative and responsive throughout.

One area for improvement would be flooring. To my knowledge, the Shepparton branch sources their flooring through a Ballarat company. In my previous JG build, we had issues with raised floorboards — which were replaced (to be fair) but handled poorly by the flooring store manager, who should have liaised directly with JG King rather than us. I decided to give them another chance this time, but despite paying extra for higher-quality floors, our carpets have been laid poorly with visible gaps between joins. JG King advised these would settle over time, but approaching our 3‑month maintenance, this hasn’t been the case. We’ll continue to pursue this. If building with King, I’d recommend arranging your flooring outside of contract.

On a positive note, JG King were very accommodating in working with external trades for our heating and cooling installation. The office staff were consistently responsive by email and flexible when changes arose outside our control (for example, when our chosen brick was discontinued, we were offered a wider selection beyond their normal range to find a suitable match).

We haven’t yet completed our 3‑month maintenance, so we can’t comment on their after‑build service for this house just yet. That said, our list currently contains only eight minor items — mostly quick fixes. Overall, the build experience was very positive, and we now have a beautiful home that’s often complimented by visitors. Should we decide to build again, we would happily consider JG King once more.

The last site supervisor has been the most helpful, his communication was clear and he was friendly and understanding. So happy the house is done and looks beautiful, some minor fixes need to be fixed but nothing that makes the space unliveable.

Professional service from start to finish. Allowed for customization and variations from their stabdard floorplan. A few minor issues after handover but all dealt with in timely manner.
