As good as you can possibly expect – The Jura’s grinder works to produce a very even result, so brewing strength and quality is the same every time. The foam is almost ridiculous in how fine and stable it is, so long as you use full cream. Skimmer milk results in a much lesser amount of foam, which only lasts a short while. This is not a fault of the machine, I just include it as an… Read more · 1
observation. You must keep the Jura well maintained if you want great results, such as cleaning the grinder, milk and coffee feeders. The machine does this largely automatically, so there isn’t any excuse in not doing this, save the cost of the cleaning products, which I find very reasonably priced. My interest now is seeing how long the unit will last. My expectation, based upon how well it’s put together, is that this is a very durable unit and will last many years. My only disappointment is that generally the coffee at home is better than when I buy it in a coffee shop. Not much of a problem...
When it works it's good, when it doesn't it's bad – So glad we got an extended warranty. In 5 years it has just gone in to be repaired for the 6th time for the same problem. Just stops grinding. When it works makes a beautiful coffee but we must of got a lemon. Show details
In-depth reviews
Fantastic and reliable – We have had this machine for a little while now and I am a big coffee drinker (25-30 shots of coffee per day) and cannot speak highly enough of the machine. No machine is perfect but the pros for the Jura machine far outweighs the cons. Pros The quality of coffee is always determined by the quality of beans you use. That said the quality of… Read more
coffee that comes out of this machine when using good beans is as good as any high-end cafe. The machine is fast and while the setting up of presets can be a little time consuming initially, once done it is simple and easy to use each and every time. The output is infinitely flexible and when you have the milk fridge it is a one stop in-home cafe. It is relatively easy to clean and as long as you follow its directions, and if you clean it when required it will not miss a beat. Compared with other machines out there it is quiet and is non-obtrusive within the kitchen space.
Cons Let’s not pretend here - Jura machines are not cheap and some of the official Jura cleaning and filter products are a bit pricy. The bean hopper is a little on the small side to be honest which means if you are a heavy user as we are, requires regular topping up of beans. My biggest gripe is when using the ground beans top loading function, if you use a flavoured coffee, even after cleaning, there is a residual taste which takes 3-4 shots to clear. First world problem, but has stopped us using different flavoured coffees in the machine.
Overall thoughts Without doubt the Jura machines are one of the best on the market and when speaking to a repairer for our previous machine he hated Jura because they never came in to be fixed. The coffee quality that comes out is cafe quality and while the price is high, you get what you pay for. I wouldn’t think of using anything else now that we had a Jura.
Excellent machine. Great Value for money – I felt that I needed to write this review after reading some of the negative ones and just shaking my head in amazement and wondering what planet these people are living on! recommended. So, at the time I couldn't afford a new one and decided to buy a used one. The old Z5 is no longer but now I own a J9.3 and a J6. I bought the J9.3 about 2 years ago and am very happy with it. The quality of the brew and milk froth is amazing. The colour display is a good size and can be customized. If people say that these machine can't make a good coffee I would suggest looking at the beans you use. Milk froth for cappuccinos is perfect. Yes, the temperature is not scalding hot, but I don't know many people who like to burn their mouth every time they have a coffee. The machine is super easy to clean and maintain, you don't need a university degree! Overall, the J9.3 is a stylish and well designed machine, which if looked after properly, will give you years of great coffee.
J9.3 is a Great Machine. My second Jura unit. Would not buy a third Jura No way!! – This is my second Jura unit. I upgraded from a Micro Ena 1. This J9.3 is on a whole different level. The coffee is ok tasting and It can sure take a workout. I do find the milk a tad warm and not boiling hot. However I believe a lot to heat is lost through a cold cup. I place my cup in the microwave for 20 seconds to warm it up prior to frothing… Read more
milk. My J9.3 is up to 1500 count and touch wood has been fault free. A quality machine.
- May 2021- I sold this machine. The puck in the container was mushy, I had coffee water leaks after shots under the machine. It really is not strong coffee. Luckily I got $550 for this machine second hand. I put in $700 extra and got a Breville Barista Touch. A breville barista touch leaves this Jura for dead! I can't believe I wasted 3 years with semi -par - luke warm coffee. I am always using a milk clean with after market MFC milk cleaner product and water filters are a drainer. Sorry this is a pain of a machine.

Jura J9 review – The coffee maker is really cool! The article https://milkfrothertop.com/jura-j9-review/ inspired me to buy. The coffee drinks are really delicious. The only negative for me - is not suitable for small countertops. Show details · 1
Can't get it serviced in Sydney – After a recent cleaning cycle the coffee went to the grounds receptacle. I have been advised that I have to get it to Newcastle & back to Manly (Sydney) .....If that had been the case when I bought it, I never would have bought it. Most other machines can be repaired locally or the company provides a free pick up & delivery service. I will never buy another Jura product again. Show details

Disappointing in so many ways – Well I don't think I have to comment on the temperature of the coffee, never hot, just warm. We resort to pre heating the cups to very hot with boiling water before making a coffee. And it does run out of water half way through making a coffee and the adjuster for the grind is just plain nasty, agricultural would be kind. We purchased with a extra… Read more
3 year warranty which ran out just before it packed up. Jura were very helpful with a complete overhaul of mechanicals for $290 Australian dollars, we took it to their authorised dealer. They guaranteed to have it repaired and ready for collection within a week. One week two days later, I rang $760 for a new display only and the repair was void because there had been vermin in the machine. I explained nothing was wrong with the display and it was there as discussed because the grinder was spinning but not grinding. I collected the machine rang Jura with a complaint and bought a special key online to be able to remove the special screws that are there to prevent access. Pulling the thing apart was not a 5 minute exercise. The brewer group was filthy with jammed up coffee, and very difficult to move. A full strip down and clean solved that issue. Cockroaches, flys and a gecko had been running around and defecating inside, the sensitive parts such as wiring were fine and all the circuit boards were pristine. But to be honest for 5 years in Australia it was not that bad. But the worry for me, we have been drinking the coffee in a environment where insects and small Animals had been crapping. And how could you design a machine with huge openings allowing these insects and Animals to enter the machine with no barriers or preventative measures to stop this at all, I think a health risk? Back to the grinder, definitely a disconnect between the gearbox and motor. As it was definitely faulty I proceeded to rip it apart to determine the fault. The fault was in my view inevitable, guaranteed to fail, the gearbox has about a 45 to 1 turn down ratio, achieved by multiple layers of gears packaged in a injection moulded gear box. This gearbox has gear teeth moulded around the circumference of the internal sections upon which layers of plastic gears rotate. Three plastic gears rotate on the primary gear on the end of the motor, all 3 of these gears had stripped their teeth. Just not up to the job and I would have thought for the price we might see some steel gearing and a sheer pin in the event of a foreign body in a coffee bag jamming the grinding mechanism. Do I buy the motor and gearbox or is this machine at the end of its designed life. The term throwing money at it, is this trying to make a silk purse out of a sows ear. A decision to be made.

ongoing issues I've read concerning cold to warm coffee. On any "straight" coffee setting, this machine delivers a hot cup of coffee, I have not experienced any issues there. With the milk based coffees, I've noticed the first is warm to hot. I call this my "drink right away" coffee - which suits me in the morning when I am in a rush. I make another for my travel mug for the drive to work, and the second is quite hot. Friends and family could to believe I would spend this kind of money on a coffee machine, but when they come to visit, I spend most of my time making coffee for them - they tell me I make the best coffee they have ever had. It took me about a week to fiddle with the grind settings - it now is perfect and I have not changed it. I've used the pre-ground setting and same results as the grinder setting - a great cup of coffee. Cleaning and maintenance do not take much of my time, I follow the Jura's instructions (and use the filter option) and the machine is running like the the fist day I took it out of the box. All in all I am a fan of this machine - I do admit, it has spoiled me for coffee, as when I get one elsewhere, I can barely drink it.
Great machine – Just bought one and it is absolutely fantastic. Makes better coffee than anywhere I have tasted. You must have a dud. t took me about 1 week to set it to my liking and now it works like clockwork. I warm the cups before making the coffee which is the recommended way anyway. Show details
I expect far more from a $3000 machine – Soooo disappointed with this J9 coffee machine. My first issues started 3 years ago when the water tank ran out of water for the first time. Then, that little CHEAP plastic adjuster for the grind just never… Read more
felt right. Yep, only ever adjusted it as per the user guide, whilst it's griding. But I can tell you, it feels like it's broken from day 1.
And the number of times i've had to clean coffee splatter from the front of the machine and my kitchen bench is more than I can count.
Now for the biggey! I ran a clen over the weekend with the pricey Jura cleaning tablets as recommended and as I've done every time since I bought the machine and now, the machine produces watery coffee. I fact the grinder just doesn't sound right. I thought, maybe I'll try to adjust the grind (yes yes, while it's grinding). Guess what? That adjuster is jammed and won't budge. I have no idea what to do! $3000 every 3 years is not good enough!
So, I had a Saeco fully auto machine that we bought 2nd hand after it had already made over 10,000 coffees. We used that at home and managed to make nearly 5,000 more and it finally started to play up. Lasted well over 7 years! My sister took it and had it serviced, 3 years later and it's still going!!!
Never again will I buy a Jura!

JURA J9.3 – I will never ever purchase another Jura Coffee machine or any Coffee machine that is locked down with special oval head screws so that the Brew Group can't be manually cleaned. The cleaning consumables that are sold for these machines do not clean that crud out of the machine which can only be achieved with 3 or 4 hours of stripping the machine and manually cleaning. I performed this operation on my approximately 2 year old Jura and replaced the Brew Group. 4 weeks after doing this I stripped the machine again to find that there was a good layer of mouldy coffee around the brew group that would have been dropping bits of sludge into each coffee.

How good was that ? We had heard about Breville's Oracle and went with that. I defy anyone to differentiate between the coffee, flat white, latte or espresso that the Breville Oracle makes & that made by a professional barista. Thank you Harvey Norman for top quality customer service & Breville for a top quality appliance. Jura, check your competitors and try a little harder.
Too many issues – I will start out by saying, it makes a great cup of coffee. Black coffee, that is. Coffee with milk is too cold, but I'm sure you've seen that mentioned many times in these reviews so I won't dwell... Many other issues! Both hoppers are just too small. Especially the bean hopper. drop through. You constantly need to open it up to help "push" the beans through. So, even when it's full it still beeps at you saying it's empty. All in all the hopper capacity is just too small anyway. Same with the water hopper in our opinion.
But, the worst part is the machine will start making a cup then stop before finishing to say you need more water. It won't resume, you need to start over. So now you have a double strength coffee. What a waste of time and coffee.
OK my berg was better and only £400.00 – The coffee is lovely machine looks good, but I like cuppacinos so you need to have a microwave as it's only capable of making lukewarm cuppacinos and lattes it's the milk part that's the problem you can't change the temperature on the milk so even with the coffee at its hottest it just doesn't cut the mustardand at £1600 pounds that's a great disappointment. I had a berg machine that was better and only £400.00 pounds.

Second, the customer is always right!! if your team have a degree in business by any chance they should know this!! the milk is not hot enough. we run more than 120 coffee shops in Saudi Arabia per international standards and i can tell you the milk is not warm enough! there must be a programming issue or a way to re-write the commands into the machine to rectify this problem.
Third, i have tried to pinch the milk tube by hand and with a zip tie and it provided warmer milk but i do not know the consequences of repeatedly doing this trick. the other trick is to play with the froth dial and adjusting it from LEFT to RIGHT towards the end of your milk cycle will give you warmer milk.
Please not that the milk I used was fresh cold full fat milk. I refuse to use room temp. milk because i need to use my machine in the morning before i go to work and i have no time to let the milk sit in room temp. and i dont want to use UHT long life milk.

keen to try it out. After a previous 8 year old Saeco machine I learned a long time ago to heat up the glass/mug for the hottest coffee, so that's how I went about my first few cups of espresso. No problem at all - great taste, well grounded as I like.
Then I tried a latte and the problem started - it seems that the milk brother would not draw any milk from a jug. Most disappointed by this as my only option was espressos. A phone call to the Jura service centre in Melbourne solved the issue immediately. Seems a faulty milk brother was the problem. This was sent out express post that day and arrived the next. Now i have the choice of coffee any way I like it. And I do like it. It's better than most coffee shop coffees.
Now I know people will say that the milk brother should not be DOA, but, sometimes crap happens. They may also say you shouldn't have to pre heat the cups - get over it. It's a great machine and the service I experienced backed that up. Finally, the machine was extra cheap, which also helps the buying decision. Jura all the way for me:)

temperature it is is because if the temperature is too high the coffee is bitter.Let me assure you Jura heat the water to the correct drinking temperature in their machines and if you haven't figured out by now that preheating your milk solves the "warm" problem than you must have left your brain in the fridge or you have not tasted enough café quality coffee to realise that the foam that sits on top is always warm and if its a latte than it is always cooler than a straight black. 9.3 is a good machine but the Z9 is even better. people who think an automatic gearbox has no moving parts

short to drink poor coffee. The Jura won. The Miele was nice, but the milk did not seem hot enough.
We had a lesson from Jura. They programmed the machine and provided information. The machine is simple to use, but we indulged ourselves with a "barista" session and this was fabulous. It's automatic, tells you what it wants eg water, beans etc and makes delicious hot coffee with little fuss. I can choose the strength of the coffee and select the coffee beans. Nothing.
Cant wait to turn it on each morning – After much research and deliberation on either the Bosch or the Jura, took the plunge and bought this unit. It is so easy to use and virtually no maintenance. Long Black I could have it, if I wanted a Cappuccino I could have it, the specs said I could change everything to my liking. Coffee strength, water temperature, amount of water, amount of milk and temperature and that was changeable for each type of pour (Espresso, coffee, Latte etc), so I was happy with my decision. Along to Harvey Norman I went. It is a great looking machine, grinds its own coffee, pours the water and adds the milk (runny or frothy depending on the frother setting) the only thing you have to do is add sugar if you have it.
I like my coffees hot, whether its a black or a white. I had set up the machine for the hottest pours. After a few tries the quantities were OK for the glass cups we use, but OH MY GOD each drink was, what I would say, was luke warm. A milk coffee was the temperature of Babies Bottle, I'm not kidding!!!!!. I tried everything, I had my digital thermometer out and checked all the temperatures of the water, the coffee, the milk, and they were so low it was ridiculous. I took my gear to HN's and asked if I could check the temps of their display model, which I did and found theirs was in some cases slightly better but not much.
What the hell do I do now?? I had just spent $3000.00 on a product that doesn't do what it was suppose to do?
On the phone to the Help line of JURA, explained everything, they got onto the "Tech" and said it was the Frother, which I new was a load of c...p, the water was warm as well and that comes out of a different spout. So they send a new frother, 3 days, and of course that made no difference at all. Back on the phone and the next thing was to send it back for testing. I had had the machine for 1 week, it was picked up and that's the last I saw of it for nearly a month. It went missing when being delivered back to me, I finally received it, it had gone via another state because the wrong postcode was put on the box.
And what do you think the machine does now? Nothing different from before, exactly the same. I rang them up again to get a report of their findings, nothing was sent back to say, she said that all tests were spot on and they found everything performing to specifications.
Now what do I do? I'm stuck with $3000 worth of plastic that makes a noise when you press buttons, it makes a black coffee almost properly but forget it if you want a variation with milk.
My advice to anyone thinking of a JURA product is to buy another brand........and the fact that the company only makes coffee machines and nothing else, which was another selling point for me, this machine should work and do what it's suppose to do properly. It look great, looks as though it would make a decent coffee. Expensive, makes luke warm coffee, useless, useless, useless.

One thing I would change is it would be nice if the coffee poured before the milk - looks nicer - and obviously the cost was pretty high - Swiss Made stuff tends to be though.
Havent had any issues so far, its been through a couple of cleaning cycles (add a little tablet to assist) and a few filters too which can add up, but the machine just asks for it when required and by all reports this makes the machine last longer then other brands.
TIP - if using ceramic mugs, i put a little bit of hit water in the cup first to warm it up. The coffee is noticeably hotter if I do this. Jura sell a cup warmer but $400 was out of my budget! Great tasting coffee, reliable, simple to use, self cleaning features Price, cost of filters can add up (but are optional)
