My Kenwood Chef XL Sense KVL6020T will not turn on.
I have heard that this particular model has been discontinued. If it is not able to be fixed and I am forced to buy a new Kenwood, will all my attachments fit a newer model?
Dear Ally, Thank you for contacting Kenwood and we are sorry to hear of the issues you have experienced with your appliance. Yes all your attachments will fit all the other kitchen machines in our range.
If they do not fit on the slow speed attachment - We have an adapter that we will happily supply to you.
You are more than welcome to private message us with the attachment codes, names to double check this and we will get this sorted for you.
Thank you
Kenwood Team
thank you, that is good to know. Any suggestions on what would be causing the issue?
Hi Ally,
I am so sorry - No power to a unit could be a number of reasons. It is hard to say.
Ensure that you try another powerpoint. Ensure this is plugged directly into a wall socket and no extension cords.
Thank you
Kenwood Team
It's not a case of "no power", the machine will not turn on. Of course I tried other wall sockets to be sure, and never used an extension cord. The machine has been taken to a service agent. Hopefully he can fix it. Thank you for your response.
Why is my flexi beater causing a squeak
Dear Jean, Thank you for your message. With the creaming beater, This is the only tool that will have a squeak noise - This is due to the stainless steel bowl and rubber tool against each other and you know when the noise is close to the bowl that it is working as it should.
Please continue to use your machine as you are and we wish you well with happy cooking and creating.
Hope this helps.

I bought KVL 6021T Chef XL 1200w. When I open it noticed oil in the bowl and around the head near the Geer. I called the seller, and he told me its normal because it's not use and it had 8 months in the shop and once you started to use it this oil will stop. So, I would like to ask is what he said is true? Do I need to return it because it has manufacturer problem?
First time using my brand new Kenwood XL titanium and I can’t seem to get the weighing function to work. I set the bowl, zero the scales, add the ingredients and still nothing. Does someone have a tip please.
I have a Kenwood chef xl and I have noticed oil in the bowl when I go to use it. I know foprm experience that when machines lose lubrication that they will eventually be damaged and fail. What is the cause? What is the solution? I think I purchased my machine in 2019.
I have the Kenwood XL sense. Since I got it it suddenly stops operating whilst whisking Ready to toss it Have had the plugs etc checked but appears to be a machine problem Anyone else with a similar issue?
Same problem.
Eventually after receiving no answer from Kenwood took it to get checked and the PC board had to be replaced which cost me a fortune. (brand new machine so this shouldn't have been a problem) Being in the catering business I am often asked which machine to recommend and I can no longer recommend Kenwood.
How do you get the dough/batter out of the 6 litre bowl? I dont want to scratch the steel obvs. I also have huge probs trying to fold in. Is it me or is the bowl too narrow for the height?
Yes! I HATE that tall narrow bowl, would love to get the old shape
For the folding-in problem - have you considered buying a folding-in tool? I have a KVC 3000 which is the smaller bowl. In my 70 years cooking, the folding-in tool has done a better job than the old traditional methods. There is a tool model for the larger, deep bowls. If you do get one I would suggest carefully remove the build up of mixture from the top of the blade with a flexible spatula once or twice during mixing. I've always been a bit iffy with swiss-roll and similar when folding in flour and this tool did that beautifully, and other mixes - including scones - have benefitted from using this tool. You can overmix, as you can when doing by hand, but watching the process and following the provided instructions carefully should be fine.
Why is this machine so unstable? I made bread dough which the machine dealt with but it rattled and bounced on the counter top. There was only half the recommended amount in the bowl but I had to keep moving it back from the edge or it would have been on the floor! That's some movement. Extremely disappointed.
You are supposed to use the lowest speed on bread dough. My XL titanium won't move at all at that speed.
I just bought a Kenwood Chef XL not the Sense but since it's a Kenwood I thought I would see if anyone had a problem with their machine WHINING? I've only had the mixer two weeks and used it four times mixing cake and light weight items ,no bread dough. Anyone having whining when it mixes? Thinking it may need to go back to the store. Kenwood has a ten year warranty on the motor I have heard and a two year warranty at the store.
Hi, I have only used mine for a few weeks as I was waiting for a previous machine to die. It sat in the cupboard for over 12 months so is no doubt out of warranty now. I am wondering what to do about it dripping oil all the time please. Making buttercream today I had four lots of oil flick onto the side of the bowl. I would not have expected this from a $499 machine. Also not very impressed with the clunking sound it makes when mixing and I have to press down on the top to lesson the noise and stop it moving on the bench. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
Hello, Ismaym, I had a Kenwood Chef purchased donkeys years ago. The reason most stand mixers drip oil from the beater drive is that the grease that’s packed in them tends to separate, especially when the mixer isn’t used for a long time.
The exact same thing was an issue mine suffered from. I took it to a local service centre, he cleaned it and re packed it with grease.
He explained that grease, of the kind used in these machines, will quickly separate, and became discoloured and very runny.
However, if you run the machine for a few minutes, two times a week or so, newly packed grease will remain thick enough, through agitation which the machine is used, to prevent the problem occurring. There’s likely to be a service centre where the machine could be regreased in this way, which will give it a new lease of life, and regular use, just to keep it from having the grease separating and turning runny. Mine has lasted 10 years with no further oil leakage.
Hope that’s helpful for you.
Kind regards, Steve
I am very disappointed with my new machine. I have had my old kenwood mixer over 40 years, and yes I was very attached to it! But .... hate the way the new mixer has so much movement, I spend all the time pressing down on the top, which then mixes better and is so much quieter, we have altered the height of the attachments but has made no difference
I agree with you! I have just started to use mine (waiting for my Breville one to die) and I too have to hold it down to stop the noise and from moving on the bench. I am calling tomorrow to ask why I have dripping oil leaking into my mixture on such a new machine. Not happy with it at all,
Hi, I am considering buying the kenwood Chef xl but would like to know specs on the food processor attachment. Is it powerful enough to blend nut butters? Where can I find the details for the attachments/accessories?
Hi Ange, the food processor is powerful enough for all of your blending needs including creating nut butters. You can find specifications for the food processor attachment here: external link
My cover for the planet hub is broken and I order the new sparepart and I already received it. Is it easy to be fixed by my husband or should I take it to the repair shop? Sally

My wife has had the Chef XL sense since Christmas and the balloon whisk has broken and replaced and broke again while whisking egg whites, has anyone had similar incidents?
Hi, Is 6.5 Litre bowl too big? I bake for family and friends, a hobby baker and occasionally take orders. Thank you, rains
Hi, a 6.5 litre bowl is just right , when mixing, product won't splash out from the mixing process. Good size for mixing 600 gram bread doughs (1loaf )
hi, i would like to ask a question please. i bought a brand new kenwood chef sense xl and today is the first time i'm using it to make a cake.
is the sound actually very loud? the loud is the same like my vacuum cleaner. very very noisy. is your mixer also has the same loud sound or just mine? a bit sad actually because i think my previous mixer (breville) is much better than this and very quiet..
yes mine makes a loud whirring noise too, but that is due I'm sure to the larger motor (1200 watts ) I think from memory and the planetary gearing that drives the mixer. I usually mix bread and pizza dough with mine which is probably at a slower speed from your cake mix and have no troubles, but I do remember it was a bit noise at higher speeds. Also being new equipment the gears have to bed in ( wear in like a car engine ) so it should become quieter over time, hope this helps some .cheers
thanks so much for your reply pierre. yes,i think because of the motor, but as long as it is working properly,i am happy. thank you :)
I'm interested in getting the Chef XL but am interested in other people's experience of using the food processor attachment. Can it handle regular peanut butter making tasks? Thanks in advance all.
if you mean the glass blender like attachment I'd say no probs...just pulse it
Hi JanyaC, I am need an answer to the same question. Did you end up buying the mixer and food processor attachment? Have you tried it with peanuts to make peanut butter?
I have just purchased this mixer. The first couple of times I creamed the butter and sugar with the scraper attachment, it was fine. Now when I do this, the machine makes a really loud squeaking noise. It doesn't happen with the K beater. Can anyone give me advice on how to fix this?
The squeaking you can hear is most likely the soft scraper material being very tight against the bowl making the scraper run dry (think of a squeegee on glass when cleaning windows ), does the scraper leave little or no residue on the bowl sides, if so there is an adjusting nut where the beater fits into mixer head, there is an adjusting spanner supplied in the box. Try a test with the empty bowl and some cooking oil smeared on the scraper blade edge, I'm betting that the noise will dissapate or not be there at all, but may come back as the scraper removes the oil and drys the bowl side, you will also be able to see how tight the scraper is against bowl side and make the very small adjustment needed. To allay your fears of something wrong with the machine , all new machines with gears and attachment points need time to "bed " in.
I tried the cooking oil on the scraper and bowl, and the noise stopped. It is definitely the scraper attachment on the 'dry' bowl that is making it squeak, who would have thought! Thanks so much, I will make an adjustment to the beater.
