I have a KSM 160 Artisan tilt head mixer . Will the Artisan 5 qt bowls twist lock fit this mixer?
I recommend you email KitchenAid with your model no/details. That's how I worked out spare parts for mine. They were very helpful.
I have a 5KSM150PS AAC model artisan mixer. It’s about 5 years old. I’m looking to buy the ice cream bowl attachment with model number 5KICAOWH. Will this be suitable with my model mixer?. On the specifications of the ice cream bowl it says it’s suitable with model KSM150, however my model begins with a 5. Is that the same thing?
I recommend you email KitchenAid with your model no/details. That's how I worked out spare parts for mine.
flashing light mixer will not start
Insufficient info. No lights on mine! Can you please post a photo and arrow where the light was coming from? Flashing blue lights often have an external origin -but maybe I live in a bad area! (apologies) Can you say what you were doing with it at the time? Most of these have a self-resetting temperature cut-out switch. If you were mixing something too thick, or if the attachment was fouling the bowl, then it might have spat the dummy : after disconnecting the power and any attachments, try starting it again. If it's still dead, there are no flashing lights and any hammering on your door has ceased, check the outlet with another appliance, in case it has tripped a safety switch. If it has, this may be more serious. Reset, put on dry rubber gloves to protect against shock, ensure the mixer is turned off, plug it in again, and retry. Remember it is possible the casing is now live, and that may have been why the power cut out, so I would advise taking it to an electrician to quickly check that. Remarkably often, these old-fashioned designs develop faults that are really easy to fix (loose screws etc), so don't scrap it immediately.
i have recently bought an ice cream maker for my artisan kitchenaid, 5KSM150. The spring loaded collar on the mixing head is in the way. i have read that i am supposed to get tools and hammer this pin out. seems a bit radical to me…is this the official recommendation?
I have no idea Kathleen .... all i know is that i bought and wasted over $1400 on two stand mixers .... the first ... the pin that holds the top of the mixer on to the base came right out while i was mixing and the whole thing collapsed into the bowl ... stupidly i bought another and the same thing is happening with this one ... each time the screw comes out while mixing ... i need to hammer it back in ... it seems to be a major design flaw .... I have had no feed back from the company and it:s a lot of money to throw away .... be careful Kathleen .... Good Luck
Hi Kathleen, I have this attachment too and found it tricky. I would visit YouTube and look at demonstrations. I never needed to remove anything, it was a matter of alignment.
I have a KSM150 Artisan. Will a 4qt bowl fit this mixer? If so where I can I buy it?
Kitchen aid ksm150 Should the attachment shaft be spring loaded? Our kitchen aid came without it .
Has been deemed not necessary for functional reasons and makes it easier to clean.OR,,,,it's cheaper and 5 seconds faster for us to make the unit without it, and we don't care if our consumers have to put up with the clunking sound whilst mixing dough. Do what I did ,go to hardware and buy two washers and a spring that fits over the shaft, punch out the pin and fit washer spring then washer and reinsert pin.
I bought KSM 150 mixer from mighty ape a couple of week ago. Last weekend opened package and try to remove wire whip from beater shaft it was so tight and couldn’t come out easily. I notice that there was no spring on beater shaft. Is that normal or any defect?

Are there any differences between the 160 and 150 apart from extra bowl bowl and minor dimension differences? Do people find the small bowl useful?
Hi We are lucky enough in our family to have 2 Kitchen Aid stand mixers. I bought a KSM150 about 15 years ago and I have a bunch of attachments (juicing, pasta making etc) that fit it. More recently another family member bought a 5KSM150PSAAC and I wanted to share my attachments but they just won't fit in the top front attachment port. Are they supposed to be interchangeable?
thanks
what is the difference between ksm150 model and 5ksm150?
Hi, I'd Iike to know which kitchenAid is more popular in buying, was it kitchenAid KSM160 OR KPM5? Thanks
Hi, I’m tossing up between buying a KSM160 or a KSM177 stand mixer. What is the difference between the two and which would be better to buy???????
Hi Peter, There is no difference in the machine, apart from a different set of colours and finishes to choose from. The difference lies in the extra flexi beater and dual toned mixing bowl. If you're not fussed on colour, I'd suggest doing the sums and see if it's actually cheaper to purchase a KSM150 and buying the extras you need - like an extra bigger mixing bowl, instead of the small one.
Hi, I'm trying to compare KSM160 & KSM177 - the only real difference I can see is KSM177 description has Premium Chrome Metal? Is there anything else? KSM160 seems to have a big variety of colours - which doesn't matter to me. Thanks
Hi Carla,
See my response to Peter's question above :)
