Kogan Cordless Smart Glass Questions & Answers
VerifiedMPN: KASMTGLSKTAI just purchased the Kogan Smart 2L kettle and it does have a very plasticky taste to the water. Boiled quite a few times and the chemical taste has continued. Has anyone asked for their money back on this kettle and did they receive it?
Why is there a very nasty taste taste to the water after boiling. I bought a 2L Cordless Smart Glass Kettle. I have cleaned the kettle with vinegar several times but the water still has a strange taste and smell.
No idea. Ours was fine. We also use filtered water in ours. If it has a taste.. return it via warranty replacement. Something is clearly wrong.
Im wondering if they had a different batch of kettles than the one I purchased. Ours was fine but if there was a chemical taste in it.. well it may of killed me due to my MCS. No surprise.. Im not a fan of Kogan anymore.
I have owned my Kogan glass kettle for over 1 month, I have boiled water over 30 times, cleaned it with the usual products, but am unable to get the plastic smell and taste out of the boiled water. Does anyone have a solution or do we just through it out and never buy Kogan products again ?
Our kettle never had a funny smell
I purchased the Kogan 2L Cordless Smart Glass Kettle a week ago. I boiled the water with vinegar the first time to clean it. The strange smell was terrible. I have since boiled it many times with vinegar and the smell persists. Is there a solution to this problem?
Hi Liz, Did likewise over and over again, but the smell and taste of plastic still persists. Kogan did replace the Kettle with an identical one, but the smell and taste is just the same with the replacement. The plastic could be toxic maybe anyway.
Why does my Kogan glass 2200w kettle smell and taste of plastic. Despite using vinegar and bicarb the smell and taste persists. I’ve only had it 2 days. I love everything else about this kettle
Does anyone have any issues with plastic taste/smell with this kettle? We have had it for over a week. Tried vinegar and repeated boiling but the plastic taste/smell has not disappeared. It is a great kettle, but this issue makes us worried to drink from it.
oh really!!! i'm using the same kettle. i didn't get any smell like that. for you i made cup of 50 degrees hot water and tried. all good for me.
Even for 50 degrees we get the taste/smell :-(
I had this kettle for less than 2 months it was good to start off with but after a while a black scum would appear in the kettle I cleaned it twice then a few days later it lit up but it wouldn’t boil. It didn’t have a taste to it just wouldn’t boil after I cleaned it so I bought another one else where. Bit disappointed as I’m a pensioner I couldn’t afford another.
Oh no that doesn’t sound good! You should contact Kogan as it should be under warranty.
had the same problem -we have had two of these kettles - both have had the bad taste. Both have blown up under 2 months of use in a home setting. There is also a weird stain on the side of the glass. Hard to explain but does not fill me with confidence. Waiting for a 3rd replacement but according to Kogan I have to delete the photos off the device first. Yes I am talking about a kettle.
Are the Kogan kettle reviews all based on the 1.7 litre glass kettle?
Yes, my review is based only on the 1.7L
yes
Yes, it is.
