known about building a house, titles or what a floorplan is supposed to look like! I first met Damo after consulting with other builders and was impressed and assured by his ‘what would you like’ approach to drafting a plan. Not the sales pitch of inclusions, or “what package we offer is best”, a people first approach the felt Genine and reflected in his patience and thoroughness getting the floorplan right for the build.

Next we moved onto waiting for titles and making selections for prestart. This was an important step in seeing how the designed house would look, feel and come together from the original inspirations to the finishing touches. All of the recommendations from the La Vida team of showrooms to visit as well as Home Base in Subiaco to physically see in person, obtain samples and request some free advice was invaluable.

Now that titles were issued and selections were made, the La Vida Portal came to life! This is a standout feature of this builder (later supported by the App) that everyone I showed was amazed by the inclusiveness of the builder to show you the journey. Pictures, updates, what’s coming next were all a click away as well as contacting the team with questions on all of this. We also got to participate in building the home by laying a brick (although I still haven’t found the exact unit even after moving in) and signing the slab, genuinely ‘making our mark’. This then moved onto roofing, waterproofing, walls, electrical and so on with regular updates coming through.

At every stage the builder was responsive to my 3rd party inspector, rectifying defects and workmanship items, sending through the remedied works showing a sense of pride in their craft. There wasn’t a debate or reflection that “you don’t know what you’re talking about” once from La Vida, it was the same care and dedication to making everything right that we enjoyed from day one.

Lastly the PCI and Key handover ceremony. The first time I walked through the house feeling that ‘home’ emotion reflecting on the tile choices, undertones of wall colour and visions of new furniture fit out and first meal. The key handover was booked early in the morning but felt like every other step of important and ours. This was a lovely touch by the team and hopefully inspired others that your home building journey matters, your preferences will be listened to and you will get a house that is built by a team that really cares about its clients beyond getting paid.

As I said to our site supervisor Jason, everyone has a bad mechanic or bad builder story, but it’s wonderful to share a great builder story that others can read, view and hopefully enquire about.

La Vida’s product is not the flashy ads with celebrities promoting ‘inclusions’ or 5 story Mcmansions covered in gold, it’s the personable caring and professionally delivered home that you and they will be proud of. I’d like to say a special thanks to all those involved including Damo the tradie, Laura (prestart consultant), Kaisha, Alicia and Shauna for making this a special journey worth remembering and sharing!

Living in another state has its difficulties as you can imagine, but by having a portal that allowed us to communicate with our own consultant and site manager and following the progress of the build at every stage with detailed photos, allowed us to have a very enjoyable building experience.
