icemaker on the $4000 fridge. Now at the 5 yrs mark the compressor is gone. they will pay for the part but you will still have to cover labour. given the track record, is it worth the risk of repairing when something else could break any minute? oh and the front load washer bought at the same time is leaking water too, even after going through all trouble shooting and cleaning out filter etc.

The door in door seemed like a gimmick at first, but now that we have used it, we don’t know how we lived without it! The convenience of accessing things like milk, drinks and snacks through the door is great. The knock knock is handy, and of course the kids love it.
The fridge took a good 24 hours to cool right down, and the freezer only a matter of hours as we used the express freeze function.
The ice machine was a problem with our old fridge, where ice regularly got stuck. This in turn prevented the machine from making ice. The layout on the LG seems really good and I don’t foresee any future blockages. The ice machine makes great ice, and is dispensed at a good speed. Crushed ice is a favourite in our house, and this fridge performs really well in this department.
Overall very happy with our purchase with no regrets. I would recommend this fridge.

Bought this LG fridge in 2019 for $3,200. After just 7 years, it stopped cooling. The authorized service center asked for $200 just to inspect it. Even though LG claims a 10-year warranty on the compressor, the repair quote for replacing it is nearly $1,000 — totally outrageous. down by noisy Inverter unit makes a load noise since purchased February 2022. You can hear it through all of house. If you want a quiet fridge I suggest you buy something else. Keep clear of Inverter Fridges.
My cheap $300 fridge is far quieter than this. Price being paid is not good value for money. If you dont mind the Noise it would be ok. I understood Inverter refrigerators were quiet. This certainly proves otherwise. Or was I sold a lemon.?

quick selection without opening the door as is the adjustable shelf inside for taller items. Downside is that there must be a small storage for chilled water, less than what we had with the Samsung, so for us it is a disappointment to have to top up with ice to get chilled after just one large glass. So far we are happy with the fridge and hope previous views for it not going the distance or customer support doesn't happen to us.

Good storage options - shelves on inside of door for jar storage. The freezer section good too with plenty of storage. There are just some of the features to this fridge.
Love it – Love the "knock knock" feature but not as much as my two year old. Fridge filter is difficult to install. You need to seriously push hard to lock it in. Like seriously hard. Other than that, absolutely love this fridge!

never bothered to respond, LG’s idea of “support” was offering a little over $1,000 toward a replacement—even though the same fridge now costs nearly $5,000—and a pathetic $150 food reimbursement when we lost more than $1,500 in groceries alone. too warm, and the ice maker stopped working completely. This caused food, including baby milk, to spoil, which is unacceptable.
An authorised technician confirmed the problem is with the compressor / sealed system. Despite LG advertising a 10-year compressor warranty, it is parts-only, meaning we were still asked to pay hundreds of dollars in labour and repair costs for a major failure.
Dealing with LG and the retailer was frustrating and time-consuming, with lots of back and forth and very little accountability. Because the fridge could not be trusted, we had to buy a separate chest freezer just to keep food safe.
For the price, this fridge should have lasted much longer.
Poor reliability, misleading warranty expectations, and disappointing customer service.
I would not recommend this fridge or LG.

realised the freezer had stopped working, we lost all our frozen food. Went though the tedious process of dealing with LG's online chat bot to get repairs done. Then maybe 4 weeks makes after the repair we get a CL E error and the whole fridge inc the ice machine has stopped working. Lost all our food again. Another LG repair happens, this repairer blamed the last repaired for not installing the compressor correctly. Fridge now runs but the ice baller has stopped working. Second repair last less than 6-8 weeks and we are back with the third CL E error. What an absolute waste of money this fridge is. The worst part is I sold my old 25 year old Fisher and Pykle fridge to my friend and that fridge is still going strong.

support, they begrudgingly offered the part under warranty, but refused to cover the $800 labour cost. Their justification? They believe six years is a "reasonable lifespan" for a premium fridge. What a joke.
This is a known defect. I didn't buy a no-name fridge — I paid a premium for LG, expecting durability. Instead, I'm left with a non-functional $4,000 appliance and a customer support team hiding behind legal spin, downplaying their responsibility under Australian Consumer Law.
LG’s position is clear:
Known defect? Yes.
They’ll give you the part, but you’re on your own for the rest.
They bank on you giving up or not pursuing legal action.
Appalling product reliability. Disgraceful customer service. I’ll be reporting this to the Office of Fair Trading, and telling everyone I know — never buy LG again.

not show up or return calls. When he actually did come to repair the fridge by replacing a compressor on 15/11/24, it took him 2 visits over 2 days to complete and then our fridge still did not work. LG are adamant to send him again to 'try again", rather than offering to replace our fridge or provide a credit for a new one (which we are entitled to under consumer law). It has now been 3 weeks and the service technician has not been in touch, cannot be reached by phone and LG will offer no other satisfactory solution. We are beyond frustrated and disgusted in the service we have been provided by LG, and yes, their call center is off shore. We had purchased this fridge from the Good Guys and they have been supportive, and have agreed that LG provide extremely poor warranty service, but cannot help. LG was sued in 2020 due to faulty compressors and were required to replace them. A new article in 2024 has again advised of another law suit due to on going fault issues with the compressors. The fridge is unreliable and compressor can go at any moment. Previous and upcoming lawsuits prove this.

The error returned within an hour. On a subsequent call, I was hung up on when I declined to accept the same advice. Finally, I spoke to someone willing to help, but they informed me I’d need to wait over seven days for a technician, leaving me without a working fridge and a pregnant partner at home. Customer support showed little concern, suggesting I just buy more ice and submit a spoilage claim. It’s shocking that a company as large as LG would offer such poor service, especially given that this seems to be a known issue with this model. Didn't need to argue with them or wave ACL around even though it is out of warranty, they are going to give us a voucher for another fridge and pick up the failed one. So I can't fault the after-sales support, but it will likely be our last LG fridge. 10 year compressor warranty only covers parts, no labour or gas.

another LG higher end double door french style fridge with ice maker, after 4 years the freezer is playing up, the ice maker stopped making ice, and the ThinQ smart app keeps telling me it does not detect any faults. After numerous attempts to reset the ice makers, it works for 2 days then stopped making ice again and one side of the freezer is less cold than the other. I checked the temperature and make sure nothing blocks the vent, 70% of the capacity as recommended by LG and yes it does not work. LG engineers really need to follow your previous tradition on quality design and build. What is going on? Don’t you guts value reliability and have respect for the consumers anymore? man degassed it, changed the compresser regassed it and left. The fridge ommited a terrible smell. 1 day later guess what didn't work properly again. Have contacted LG service telling them what was happening and that I am not happy at all, I told them I want a new fridge as this one is obviously a dud. Poor Quality and Construction: The first issue that struck me was the remarkably low quality of the product. Upon closer inspection, I noticed visible screws on the inside of the fridge, which were not properly secured and caused vibrations. Furthermore, the interior was painted in a cheap and unappealing white color, clearly indicating a lack of attention to detail and craftsmanship. Even when simply managing the fridge, it becomes apparent that it was built with subpar materials and workmanship, leaving me with a sense of disappointment.
Factory Defect and Inadequate Customer Support: To compound matters, the fridge arrived with a factory defect that became evident within a week of use. The food I placed in the top section of the fridge began to freeze, which naturally led me to assume that I might have made an error in its operation. In an attempt to resolve the issue, I promptly contacted your customer support department at LG. However, the service I received was shockingly inadequate. The representatives seemed poorly trained and ill-prepared to address my concerns. Consequently, I was left with no choice but to schedule a technician visit. During the technician visit, to my disbelief, I was informed that the malfunction I encountered was a common fault found in this particular model of fridge. The technician himself expressed surprise that even the newer models were afflicted by the same problem. It is truly disheartening to discover that a product with such a widespread issue was marketed and sold to unsuspecting consumers like myself.
Insufficient Resolution and Flawed Repair: The technician's proposed solution to mitigate the issue was to insert a form between the fridge and freezer, thus reducing the airflow to the top section and preventing food from freezing. However, this remedy is nothing more than a temporary fix that fails to address the underlying problem. While it may prevent food from freezing, it does not rectify the malfunction entirely. Additionally, the sensor in the fridge remains inadequate in controlling the temperature, rendering it unsuitable for storing more delicate items such as wine. This flaw further exemplifies the overall poor quality of the product.
In light of these considerable concerns, I reached out to LG and requested a legal refund, as it is evident that my fridge was defective from the factory and of unacceptable quality. However, to my dismay, LG refused to acknowledge my request and failed to provide any form of compensation or resolution.
In conclusion, I implore prospective buyers to spare themselves the inconvenience and distress that comes with this product. The combination of the poor quality construction, factory defects, inadequate customer support, and ineffective repairs makes this entire experience an unnecessary ordeal. I expected better from a reputable brand like yours and regretfully find myself warning others to avoid the disappointment and frustration that accompanies purchasing this particular fridge.

door to store milk and bottles even if they're not things you use most often (door in door is marketed as using it for most frequently used items).
There is the half shelf you can slide back to give added height for the shelf below (see attached photo), but then you lose half that mid shelf space.
Shelf spacing is at such an awkward height that the jars and 450ml soft drink bottles only just miss out on fitting.
If LG had made the bottom and mid shelf have 60mm (2.5 inches) and the upper most shelf have 80mm (3&1/4 inches) more height, the fridge would be perfect, but that slightly awkward height they've made it means you don't have flexibility of how you stack it.
My old Samsung SRS700DP was far superior in that regard.
I know, shelf height seems like such a small thing to worry about, but when it affects storage options and space so much, it is a crucial aspect of refrigerator functionality.
You can't even use it as a beer fridge for the shed because beer or vodka cruiser bottles cannot stand up on shelves.

buy a second fridge as a back up, and the glass door latch has been broken for the last three months and the door has been taped shut. It’s taken me the last three months to get it fixed through the contract repairer ###(don’t want to mention them) When I spoke to them on the phone, I said these fridges must be keeping you guys very busy and they acknowledged that it was the case .
