In fact, the freezer has not been functioning properly for the last year. Despite the supposed 10-year compressor warranty, according to feedback from others, even repairing it will likely cost as much as buying a new one. Despite regular cleaning of the coils, which are… Read more
easily accessible, the freezer performance has continued to decline.
The takeaway from this experience is to avoid purchasing fridges from television manufacturers.
Our previous Kelvinator fridge still working like new after an impressive 25 years, and we only replaced it because of a relocation to another state.
We will be not purchasing an LG unit again that's for sure, not because of just our experience but it is obvious to see it's a very common problem with this model.
Can't imagine buying LG anything moving forward.
LG Not even 5 years Old and Freezer no longer working – We purchased the LG 450UPLX Bottom Mount Refrigerator in Jan 2019. For the last several months we had noticed that Ice Cream was not keeping frozen though other products seemed OK. As advised by the LG approved serviceman It would seem that the gas has been leaking either through a pinhole in a pipe, a faulty joint or seal. Only one 'coil?' in… Read more
the pipework he showed us was icy cold, the remainder were warm. The temperature reading was -5C in the freezer . He said it should be -18C. The refrigerator temperature was OK but would become problematic as the gas continued to escape. The refrigerator would need to be collected and taken to their workshop for repairs with an approx cost of $800. He could not advise the length of time this would take. At this point we decided it was not worth it as we could purchase a new fridge for a little more money. However later that day we found the receipt and realised it was not yet even 5 years old. After a lot of internet searching we have found that the LG Refrigerators/Lineal compressor from this time frame has not only been the subject of a number of reviews expressing the same problem as us but also the subject of Class Actions in USA and Canada. We are currently awaiting advice for the next step in our endeavour to find a solution to this problem.
Two failed within 6 years – After purchasing the unit in February 2017 it quickly became noisy and had to be replaced due to a compressor failure. They were on to it very quickly and replaced it. I have absolutely nothing negative to say about the customer service during that interaction. Now, 6years on, the replacement unit they gave us has broken and according to the… Read more
technician it is not fixable. I'm still waiting to hear from LG (nearly a week after raising the issue) if they will replace this unit. If they don't, I honestly wouldn't go near this brand again for refrigerator units.

Love bottom freezer mount – Only owned a few weeks but very happy with my lg fridge. Great for my back lots of space We did take a self out. To add more items and heights Door rings if open too long lol Great size for 3 adults Great Energy rating 4 star as door shelves are fixed and crisper a bit small Show details
Almost perfect – Great fridge with only a few minor complaints. 1. The freezer door sticks out more than the fridge door and look a bit odd. 2. The doors don't sit level. 3. Can make a higher pitched noise at times but it isn't very loud and doesn't last for very long. Show details

It's a very nice upgrade and only a couple of minor things I don't like – Great fridge which has an option to open the door from the other side. It's pretty quiet but not silent. No sharp edges like we saw on some of the other fridges with sharp door handles etc. Quite sturdy and sits well and not flimsy. big solid doors and handles well even when fully loaded with drinks. There's a temperature display which is only… Read more
for setting what temps you want but does not display the current temp which they should of added in my opinion. The tempered glass shelves are ok but I get a bit scared it might break when I'm laying glass wine and water bottles on it. I bought a plastic bottle rack which resolved the issue.
It has one of the best energy ratings out of the fridges in this price range. Advertises good warranty but I'll come back and update this review if something happens.
It's got lots of little features like the retractable shelf which is a bit flimsy so I won't be playing with that too much.
Only has a door alarm for the fridge but not the freezer, why not LG??
I think overall it's a great fridge/freezer but only time will tell. These days everything is made in China who have the worst quality control so having good after sales support is very important. Crossing my fingers LG looks after us if it does go south...
Oh and the ice tray that you can flip over used to release ice cubes with one flick now does not release ice as easy as it used to. Not sure if that's a design fault or it's happening because I left the ice cubes in the tray for too long?
Great Fridge Loads Of Space – We’ve had this fridge for 1 and a 1/2 years now and it has consistently kept everything cold. The fridge is a good size for us as we have someone living with us and it fits everything very well. The freezer has a huge amount of space which is great as we do meals and freeze them etc. Would have loved for it to be IoT enabled but as it’s a 2016?… Read more
model it isn’t but would love to be able to monitor things via the SmartQ App.
It’s a great fridge with loads of space and it sits beside our new Washing Machine that almost matches in colour and design which is amazing.
Haven’t had any issues with it at all and would recommend it to friends.
It has done us well and unless something goes bad I believe it will serve us well for years to come and it has a 10 years parts warranty so not too bad.
** Freezer Shelves **
Whatever you do not load the Middle Tray in the freezer because if too heavy it will destroy the rails which are thin plastic and only have foam backing it
Good product till it stops working – I bought this fridge less than 12 months ago and it served us well till a week back. The fridge and freezer stopped cooling. I spoke to LG Customer Service and they arranged for service visit 2 days later. In 15 mins, technician confirmed that compressor isn't working. Since then I have been coordinating with LG Customer Service to replace the… Read more
fridge. It is less than 12 months old and very much under manufacturers warranty. Instead of keeping us informed on the progress, I had to keep following up with them almost every day to know whats happening. After numerous calls, they finally said that they will replace the compressor but not the fridge as it is repairable. Repair is scheduled for 5 days later. What I fail to understand is, if the spare part is with them and the issue is serious, then why should they take 5 days on top of 7 days (since I lodged the issue) to replace? Without a fridge at home, it is difficult to manage and have to keep feeding my kids from outside. but they just wouldn't understand and really don't care. On the other hand, Harvey Norman has been helpful by saying that if there is a reference letter from LG to replace the product, they can deliver the next day itself. But LG wouldn't provide such a letter because their care-factor for customer's experience is ZERO!!! I've lost confidence in LG and their appalling Customer Service. This will really be my 1st and last product from LG. I would advise others not to waste their money either.

Great fridge – We bought two of these fridges at an excellent price from Good Guys in Toowoomba. After a few months, one of them had an issue with the pump. It took a lot of back and forth and phone calls, but finally LG sent out a replacement for nothing which was great. LG tried to send us to their local repair agent in town, who weren't very helpful. It… Read more
wasn't until we pushed back on LG themselves that we finally got the replacement fridge. This took awhile to come as they didn't have the right colour in stock. However they did offer to send us a higher grade finish (matt black) which was worth more. We declined this as we wanted our two fridges to match.
Apart from this issue, we have had no problems and find it is an excellent fridge, good size with a nice finish and internal layout. Would recommend.
Happy Customers! – Appliances Online. Love our fridge. Would not buy my big household appliances anywhere else now. Thank you so much for your fabulous services. Am a return customer already! Love our washing machine too. Show details
Best fridge I’ve owned – The fridge does exactly what it is meant too. I love the simplistic look of it and that it chimes when I’m taking too long to pack my groceries. I love the handles on the side as my toddler doesn’t quite know how to open it. It does a great job keeping food cold or frozen and doesn’t have any ice build up Show details

Disappointed – Although we weren’t ready to purchase a new fridge we had little choice when our previous LG fridge, which was only 6 months old, wouldn’t fit into the unit we moved to. Because we were previously happy with our LG purchases we bought a new LG refrigerator that fitted our new home perfectly. However four years on I find myself having little… Read more
choice but to once again purchase a new fridge. A week ago we noticed everything in the freezer has defrosted, since then the fridge section is also not working. Always disappointing when you have a young family and have to throw out all the spoilt food, however the real kicker is the quote to fix the fridge, $800 plus dollars. How can I feel confident with the LG brand moving forward?
Failed after 5 years – We were very happy with our purchase until 2 nights ago we noticed everything in the freezer has defrosted. Since then lights and fan works but no cold air in fridge or freezer. Like others, seems all too expensive to fix so will be getting a new fridge. Will avoid LG and hope for a longer lasting purchase. Show details

BUILT-IN OBSOLESCENCE : FAILED EXACTLY 3 YEARS TO DATE OF PURCHASE – Interior design of refrigerator top section is awful, cannot place anything of reasonable height on shelves, only in the doors. Nonetheless. the entire machine ceased functioning as a refrigerator and freezer apart from the fan and the lights, destroying the entire contents overnight! It was discovered to be inoperative on the morning of the… Read more
9th January 2022, exactly 3 years to the date of original purchase, when all warranties had expired, other than the compressor which is 'limited parts only' covered. Frankly for a $1,000 refrigerator - a 3 year life is utterly appalling - never buy an LG refigerator again, now I worry about my LG TV and 3 LG mobile phones - especially now that LG has suddenly decided to step out of the mobile phone business!!! Not happy!!

Dead after 4 years – Purchased fridge in 2017, just paid LG's authorised repairer $180 call out to inform me the compressor is gone. LG do offer a 10 year warranty on compressor parts, however it's going to cost me an additional $700 to fix it, that's $880 to fix a fridge which cost $1100 originally. Not buying an LG again, and don't get drawn into the 10 year compressor warranty. 4 years from a fridge is not good enough. Show details
Looks Great....But – I love this fridge as it works really well and looks great too!...Handles...water dispenser...All great! At $1300 I shouldnt have to try to stop the buzzing by moving it a little every couple of days Just seeing if there is a brand manager from LG that can help out :-)
Backbone of our household – Fridge is fantastic. Does exactly what any fridge should do. Temperature is constant and if you leave the fridge door is has a beeping noise to alert you. It can leave finger prints from our toddler but glad it does as it’s easy to spot dirt and to clean. Door can be set to open either direction Show details
very noisy! – The fridge seemed just what I wanted. But it's less than a year old and I feel like selling the thing and buying another. I don't think I can live with the irritating buzzing much longer.
Great fridge and looks sleek – Perfect fridge, love all of the compartments and the adjustable bottom shelf that can be changed to accommodate taller items. Really spacious interior for the size of the fridge. Love it. Show details
Very good fridge for small family – Amazing fridge for a small family. Having the freezer on the bottom makes the fridge so much more easier to use. The veggie drawer is very accessible which is very handy. The fridge is extremely energy efficient. From what it looks like, our veggies and the occasional piece of fruit stay quite fresh for up to a week. The freezer offers limited… Read more
but useful space ( we did end up buying a separate freezer).
Noise wise it's really quiet 90% of the time. Every now and then it sounds like it goes in overdrive and does produce a very noticeable noise. We live in a open plan living so there isn't much to cancel out the noise.
Overall I would say it's a very good and energy efficient fridge.
Fantastic fridge for a small family! – A fantastic fridge for a small family. The 'bottom-mount' fridge has the freezer at the bottom and fridge shelving at eye-level which allows you to see everything at a glance. The freezer is deceptively very spacious allowing you to stock up and freeze food items. The fridge runs quiet and the LED lighting is bright. The retractable shelves… Read more
are a great added extra. The fridge does stick out a bit further than I expected so make sure you do your measurements. We love it.
Perfect fridge for 2 – Perfect size for my tiny apartment and it provides just enough food storage for 2. It has 4.5 energy rating so it is highly energy efficient with just 299 kwh per year. I like its metallic platinum look that fits the theme in my kitchen Show details

OK, doesn't filter out smells – Fridge is OK, if a bit small in the fridge section, but the thing that really irks me is that it doesn't filter out smells like my previous cheap and really old fridge did. So put some spagbol w/ garlic covered in it, and the next day the whole fridge smells of it. Why doesn't it have a deoderizer like my 10yo Samsung does? Doesn't even have to be anything particularly smelly, the fridge seems to amplify all smells. Show details
Great fridge well deisgned – Maintains consistent & reliable temperature in all departments Like all platinum fridges shows finger marks Door please to open and shut The interior of the fridge feels vast compared with similar sized fridges LED lighting system very good Show details
Great buy for modern apartment – As we moved into a new apartment, there is not very wide place to put double door fridge so this beast become one of the best candidates. Why? Big inside!!! By comparing to other brands in the market at this size this is the biggest inside. The price also in the middle. Sometimes it may make some noticable noise but best side I would say it is perfert for apartment use. Show details
Good fridge/freezer and good value – We bought this fridge to replace an old top mounted fridge. We were finding it hard to get at the bottom of the fridge so we went for a bottom mount. We opted for the LG because we liked the interior layout and the clean, straight facade. A wise choice to go for the bottom mount because it has made getting things out of the fridge much easier. draws run smoothly and the draw at the bottom of the fridge keeps the vegies moist but not soggy. It does what it designed to do very well and it does it quietly. Although it is early days yet, we are happy with our purchase.
Noisy, compressor runs 60-80% of the time – This fridge works well, however the compressor runs frequently and for long periods (often 40-60 minutes straight and never goes off for more than 15-20 minutes at a time). It has a high frequency hum that can be heard from almost every part of our home. I do not recommended this fridge, particularly if you are sensitive to noise or if you have an open plan living room. Great product! – I am extremely happy with our new fridge! It is easily able to be adjusted and has easy to use settings for the thermostat. I find it fantastic to use and love the fact that the fridge is on top. It also has a built in ice tray. Show details
Best fridge – This is a brilliant energy efficient fridge. It maintains consistent temperature at all times and throughout the whole fridge. The design is fantastic and the led side lights make it easy to find things. The retractractable shelf makes it easy to store taller items as well. Also with this summer heat trying to bring ice cream home the quick freeze button is fantastic to freeze things within minutes Show details
Completely broken within 2 years of purchasing brand new!! – I purchased this fridge at the beginning of 2017 (less than 2 years ago) and have had problems within months. communication from my LG case manager, still don't have a replacement fridge or don't know if we'll get one and had to throw out over $300 in perishables.
A very very slow and painful process to resolve issues with my LG fridge considering it is a necessity, not a luxury item - absolutely no urgency from LG to resolve the issue.
Whilst the fridge did work:
The freezer was inconsistent and some sections didn't fully freeze some items.
The refrigerator section worked great
Terrible – We purchased this as the retailer told us it was whisper quiet. Far from that the noise is so bad we can hear it in our bedroom! Had a consultant out 4 times had voice files to let them hear the noise and each time they have said it is acceptable. We emptied the fridge freezer and noise still there. When you touch the unit the noise stops when… Read more
you hold the door the noise stops - it is on level ground. The funniest thing the last consultant told us that in the old days you had an ironing board up against it which shut it up unbelievable. The warranty for 10 years is worth nothing. When we have got the money it is going over the rubbish tip and then we will go back to Fisher and Paykel which we should have done in the first place.
By all of the other reviews it would appear that we do have a lemon but will LG come to the party… Read more (+2 replies)
Lovely looking fridge, downsized but still has lots of space for everything – I love how the freezer is now at the bottom, it is easy to put things into compartments, and there is no ice to scratch off - winning. The shelves are adjustable but I had to remove one because I couldn't fit the bottles in. Suits a family of 3 quite well. Show details
Great fridge – The fridge maintains the temperature in all compartments. I saw a lot of reviews regarding the noise of the fridge. I've had the fridge for more than 7 months now and it's not that bad. Considering what it's designed to do, it's relatively quiet. Likes - Design, sophisticated look - Easy to clean - Energy efficient Dislikes - The freezer drawers can be difficult to open at times Show details
