when I called to get it fixed the guy said he has 8 people waiting to fix that model and the one after and that there is a problem with wiring on left hadn't side. if this is the case why aren't LG recalling them if there is a problem?

Follow-up  · you do not need to defrost it is an ice maker and is used DAILY. but it still clumps on the right side. I have another at another house that also clumps on the right side( when the door is open. so it is a fault obviously

Oh, LG, how far have you fallen – Purchased this disaster of fridge in 2018, to replace 2 Samsung fridges which failed within 12 month sequentially. I was hoping for better quality and reliability. Oh, how wrong I was. When it works it is fine. It cools as expected and the fridge is roomy enough. It is LOUD and the plastic drawers and runners in the veggie crisper and door drawers… Read more

are made of flimsy plastic which cracked within 2 years. I replaced them myself as they are apparently "wear and tear". At 4 years the left side door died along with the main display and ice maker. Fortunately I had the extended warranty and this was replaced. A year later, and just out of warranty, the ice maker died and I replaced it myself. I also had to replaced another cracked plastic veggie runner. Over the last 6-8 months the fridge has been complaining in increasing frequency of the door being left open (which it isn't). I did all the LG online trouble shooting, cleaned AND then replaced the rubber gaskets and realigned the doors slightly. It seemed to fix the issue for a short while. Since Xmas 2024, the problem has now become a daily issue and now the fridge refuses to recognise the doors being closed all the time. Thank god the door alarm can be disabled as it rings every 30 seconds. I replaced one of the magnetic door sensors and tested them with magnets but no good. The fridge still seems to run , but it's probably running overtime and due to the sensor problem the fridge won't allow the ice maker to make or dispense ice. Now I'm torn as whether to get a LG repair tech to assess it as i can imagine they'll want to replace the doors etc again which will cost thousands. I am not even sure if the current problem is related to the previous failure of the left door. If that had been replaced out of (extended) warranty it would have cost > $800 i was told. So in just under 6 years I have had 3 major failures and multiple smaller issues with quality of interior plastics. So no, LG is definitely NOT a better option than the SAMSUNG. If the tech says the issue is the same door again I will escalate a complaint with the ombudsman as a $3400 fridge should last longer than 6 years without multiple repairs. No wonder most retailers don't offer extended warranties past 5 years for these fridges. LG, what are you doing ????..

Andrei C
Andrei C

The issue is that with the fridge not recongnising the doors being closed, it won't make ice and the ice/water dispenser doesn't work.

Fruit and veg in drawers are frozen and fingerprints on front are ridiculous – So disappointed with this fridge. Fruit and veggies in crisper drawers freeze, no idea how this could be happening in such an expensive appliance and creating so much wasted produce. Additionally, we have had so many stainless steel appliances, but none which show fingerprints like this one. We are a household of 5 people and the fridge is a focal… Read more

point in our kitchen, sadly it's only a matter of hours after wiping the front that it looks like it needs to be cleaned again. It's been 3 years, and I'm very unhappy with this fridge.

This fridge has a problem which LG can't seem to fix – You may have read in other posts, that food in the crisper freezes. Well that's what happens to our food too. So much so, it has ruined heaps of fresh fruit and veges. The design flaw relates to a seal between the freezer compartment and the fridge compartment. The seal is foam and surrounds a valve at the bottom of the plate at the back of… Read more

the fridge that contains the Pure N Fresh filter. It allows freezing air into the crisper section. I can't complain about the service. LG have responded by sending a technician out each of the FIVE times we have reported the failure to correct the problem in the last three months. Even the technician admits that LG don't seem to be able to fix this, so at the last visit, they agreed that LG has to "do something" about a replacement fridge. That remains to be seen. Myself? I think they won't do anything since it's just outside warrantee.

Look it's a good design, but all you people who give it 5 stars, just wait until the seal fails and it starts to freeze all your stuff in the crispers. And it'll happen outside of warrantee. Maybe you'll change your tune. For us, it's been a colossal waste of nearly $4,000.

Nice fridge – We bought this fridge from Costco mainly to satisfy my American partner's burning desire to have ice and cold water on tap. It is quiet and powerful and the freezer configuration with two doors and pull out drawers is very functional. Makes ice and cold water well and has an easily changed water filter. The plastic and fittings feel solid and made… Read more

of thicker plastic so I expect them to be durable over time. It is also very well lit so there are no dark corners. Overall I like this fridge however I have a few areas where I think there's room for improvement. It has may good features you can read about on the LG site so I'll just focus on the annoying things for other buyers to consider.

1. I'm not a big fan of fat doors but that seems to be part of the deal with fridge door ice makers. As a result the doors are quite heavy and have a tendency to slam if you don't carry them shut. I would like to see a soft close mechanism built into the door hinges to help with this.

2. LG like many manufacturers don't fill me with confidence that they have ever tried to fill their fridge with Australian stuff. The right door has a second small door in it which you can open to take out your milk without having to open the whole door. Problem is, more often than not I open the whole door anyway as I'm usually taking out the milk and the jam or eggs for breakky etc. The door shelves in the right hand side are partially enclosed from the inside so if you try to take out your 3l milk bottle from the inside is it very awkward as the hole seems not much bigger than the bottle and if you have three bottles of anything to fill that shelf its practically impossible to easily take out one container without wrestling with everything in the compartment. Its just too tight and small and unfortunately its the only place in the fridge for a tall bottle. It's like they don't really want you to remove stuff from the inside so you might have to open the main door then make another trip though the little door!??

3. Fridge height. The trade off for that great freezer is a fridge that isn't actually that useful. The thick door mean you have to reach deep in to grab things on the main shelves. Also due to the height of the freezer (and the knock on effect of shortening the fridge space) the three main shelves are all quite short and there is basically no room for anything tall. LG have made a small and clever concession by making the right side of the middle shelf split so you can push the front half of it back over the rear half to effectively create an area on the bottom shelf (about 3 x 1.125l soft drink bottles) where you can sit tall bottles. But now its hard to use the rest of the shelf behind the bottles without having to move the bottles. With regards to moving the shelves, say, to make one area taller, LG have chosen to limit the shelf adjustment somewhat.

4. Door handle position. This is just a personal thing but I find the handles are not that natural to use. From an aesthetic viewpoint they look great as you really cant see them looking at the fridge. The pull handles are ONLY on the underside of the main fridge doors (and the top of the freezer doors which is ok). You have to hook your hand underneath to open. For a tall person, there is not similar handles on the tops of the doors. Also, DONT hold the vertical part of the door as you close them as the gap is perfect for crushing your fingers or thumb and it hurts ALOT. I think I prefer one of the Samsung designs there they have recessed the handles into the vertical centreline of the doors. That is a much more natural action and no chance of jamming your finger when you naturally grab the middle of the door to close it. In truth I would have happily looked at other 4 door fridges such as the Hisense, Sharp, or Samsung but this one was a run-out deal, reduced price at Costco for approx $2000 so we grabbed it.

Good fridge, nearly great – I am very happy with this purchase. I find it to be consistent in temperature both in the freezer and fridge. year.

Pros:

Maintains temperature.

Utilizes every space for storage.

Good size just fit into our space.

The quick access door is handy.

Looks great.

Easy to adjust temperature.

Ice and water dispenser is amazing.

Love the draws pull out in the freezer, easy for access

Con:

Stainless steel is painful to keep clean especially with little kids.

The easy access door you have to touch to close it leaving finger prints all over it.

Since the doors on the top are so chunky it doesn't give you large shelves if for example you need to put a platter in you may find it won't fit.

Replacing filters can be expensive (depending on how often you use it)

Overall I would recommend this fridge just would reconsider the stainless steel finish if you have small children.

Great Fridge and freezer – This fridge keeps superb temperature. Very easy to use and simple to clean. Shelvings are appropriate sizing. Easy removal and placing of shelvings.
