LG GN-515GW / GN-515GS Questions & Answers
VerifiedIs the lg gn 515gs crisper shelf part the same as the gn 515gw crisper shelf please
You would have to ask LG. Not sure if I have the gs or gw model and have no idea what the difference is (if any). LG contact details are on the internet.
Can you remove the seals to wash them And then put Them back on?
I have no idea on that one. I suspect not but you could contact LG and they could tell you. I found them to be very helpful.
Does the compressor have amything to do with ice build up around fan behind panel in freezer GN516GS
How do you remove the back freezer panel to access the defrost system?
Fridge is not cooling? Any ideas?
I ended up buying a Samsung fridge today. The repairman told me it could have been a few different things because the fridge had been making loud squeaky noises for the past year (in addition to not cooling anymore) and that it might not be worth fixing. It's worth contacting a repairman over the phone to know what your options are. I just didn't want to pay for a call out when it could have cost another few hundred to fix.
Wishing you luck.
My lg gn 515gw has bit the dust 2years old turned it off for 24 hrs because of ice build up as told to do so by technician. Live to far away from technician to get him to have a look, told me to take to the dump.throw away. After 2 years how come old fridges more reliable than new fridges has 2 year warranty 3years on compressor. What should I do?
I have a similar problem mine is 3.5 years old and the compressor has died. By the time I pay for the call outs and labour and anything else as well as being with out a fridge for a few weeks I may as well but a new one. It's disgusting when you pay $1500 for a fridge you expect it to last at least 10 years.
Sadly, hidden in their website is the notification that there is a 2 year, plus a further 3 year warranty on any problem associated with the compressor and associated pipework, if it is a manufacturers fault. If you combine this with something called 'implied warranty' (Victorian example here external link then you can still have a case for having it repaired at no cost. Do not let them bully you in to thinking that just because a 2 year warranty has expired that your $1000+ item is yours to pay for repairs.
We had really good technician who alerted us to ACCC rules that protect consumers against faulty parts/products. Please contact LG and explain that your fridge compressor has died after a short time if regular use. ACCC mandates that this should last longer regardless of warranty or not. LG are obliged to offer you apportioned rebate on your fridge cost. So, if compressor died after 2 years and you paid $800, they might give you $5-600 back. MAKE SURE YOU KEEP THE DEAD FRIDGE FOR LG TO COLLECT. They never told us this and they deliberately dragged it out for us. So, after 1mth following up with LG we just bought a new fridge and of course we paid for good guys to take away old fridge (as how else would we dispose of it??). And now after 5 mths, I'm still arguing with LG to get my measly $384 refund.
Hi everyone, I'm keen to know how noisy it is as we're living in a small apartment and our current Samsung fridge is just so loud. Even the bedroom door is closed we still hear it rumbling from the kitchen?
Hi
Ours is very quiet we dont even notice it when its running.
Cheers
Yes very quiet, my wife is a very light sleeper, and it doesn't wake her, so it must be quiet.
Cheers
Hi was thinking of buying this model
Space is 80 cm across
Will this suffice?
Yep just.
I measured the fridge and it's 78cm.
Good luck
Hi
Ours is 79 across so it should be okay .You could always check one out at a supplier- EG harvey Norman - Good guys etc. To be safe that it will fit...I would say it will...
Cheers Muzza
we purchased the LG GN-515GW today, seems to be cooling nicely however it appears very warm around the edges of the fridge behind the seals and front side panels near door edges. ?? I have email lg but as yet as no response
I am not sure what your problem is .I have just checked our fridge and it is quite cool all round . You have not got it in an enclosed space that is trapping the hot air from rising?. If no it would be a job for LG to have a look .It does not sound right to me...And it would be using more electricity trying to keep the inside cool I would think...
Cheers Murray
Hi, just checked our fridge, not hot at all.
Checked all seals, sides and top all fine.
Good luck.
Cheers
Trevor
The front part of the cabinet has a heater to keep the door seals warm & soft , soft door seals means better sealing.
