Close to Perfect – 2.0 litre 6 speed manual has done over 130,000 kms with little to no issues at all, very reliable, power is not a problem driving around the city and the 6 speed gearbox is great on the country roads, mechanic loves my petrol power car and after each service there are no problems. Show details

A nice product let down by a grubby company – After multiple failures of my diesel 2016, including intake manifold carbon, PCM failure, MAP1 sensor, auto transmission, Mazda have decided to just cover the transmission (for which I am grateful). We then agreed within an NCAT hearing that I would pay 1/2 the costs. After which grubby Mazda tried to screw another $300. When did Mazda get so… Read more

I am extremely disappointed with both Mazda Australia and Mazda Melville Service. After several months of follow-ups, stress, delays, and absolutely no accountability, the only thing I received was a repair invoice for over AUD $26,000 — for a car that is worth around AUD $20,000. This is beyond unreasonable. Mazda Melville Service keeps saying… Read more

they are “just a franchise business” and take no real responsibility. Mazda Australia also refuses to help and simply says it is not their problem. The customer is left completely abandoned between the dealer and the manufacturer.

The most frustrating part is the complete lack of after-sales support. Once they sell the car, it feels like nobody cares anymore. No ownership, no proper customer care, and no willingness to resolve serious issues fairly.

I strongly encourage anyone considering buying a Mazda in Australia to first read the large number of customer complaints and consumer reviews online before making a decision.

My experience with Mazda has been one of the worst customer service experiences I have ever had in Australia.

Mazda CX-5 buyer beware – My partners car Mazda CX-5 2016 KE 11. Regularly serviced by Mazda Penrith, 154,000 klms, 6 months out of warranty. Blown head gasket. Original owner. Will never buy another Mazda. Nil response from Mazda.Paid $48,000. A very good 2015 Mazda SUV 2.4L AWD – We have owned this Mazda CX5 2.4L AWD ( all wheel drive ) car for about 5 years now. We bought it from a company that used it for that purpose, It had done 100,000km and was in very good condition. We have now done 135,000 km and have had no problems at all with it. It drives lovely, feels solid performs adequately, it tows our 18ft fibreglass… Read more ·  1

boat without effort. With the AWD it pulls it out of boat ramps and tricky places with ease. Fuel consumption is OK but not as good as our Lexus 250, probably because it is heavier and has more wind drag. It is chockablok with electronic gizzmos most of it I don't understand but it doesn't bother me we just drive it. The interior is very tidy even after 100Km , a lot of the other brand SUVs we checked out some were quite worn inside seats split etc. We looked at the CX9 but my wife thought it was a bit big, she's says the CX5 is just right any easy to park. We did have an issue with the rear brakes, a couple of years ago, what happens I think is that the electronic handbrake that is common on most cars now applies considerable pressure on the rear disc brakes when handbrake is activated. When it has been raining or washed the car and discs etc are left wet, the brake pads seize/ rust a little? onto the discs, this happened once and we had to replace the rear brakes and get the discs skimmed. Cost about $1,100 to fix. My friend has a new Honda same thing happened.

Great Reliable Car – I have just completed four years of ownership of my Mazda CX-5 (and still going) and completed nearly 60,000 km. It is the 2.5 l petrol engine GT. In that time, I have had no mechanical issues with the car - starts first time, every time. It is great in the city and on the highway. Paint and interior still look as new. Servicing costs have always… Read more

been reasonable through the Mazda dealer. The only issues in that time were: 1. The battery was just replaced after 4 years - the first indication was that the i-stop function stopped working. This is good life for a battery. Mazda dealer replaced it for $270 with a non-Mazda battery, so still a reasonable cost. 2. I had an initial minor problem with the entertainment system not connecting fully to the phone, but the dealer did a software update that fixed the problem. Sat Nav is OK, but free updates were only given for the first 3 years- it is expensive to buy the updates after this. 3. Suspension is a bit firmer than I would like with poor roads around the city, but it is good for secure handling. Tyre wear has been excellent - still on the original tyres (Toyo) and expected to get to 65,000 km before replacement. Only issue has been these tyres seem prone to puncture (3 in 4 years - perhaps I am just unlucky!). I will pick a different brand next time. Overall, its been a great car and I recommend it to others.

Worst Servicing Issues Non Resolved – Purchased Brand New CX-5 2016 Maxx Sport from Mount Gravatt Mazda - from day 1 vehicle generated a noise while reversing and turning left. Second Service during road test, noise was duplicated - returned vehicle advised done… Read more

all they could - drove out, went back to work reverse park and noise still present. Told Mazda and said to come back in, have done few services and still no resolve. Most recent service - I dealt with the Service Manager - they faulted the noise again - was told that they checked everything. Service Manager went on to explain that this noise was completely normal on all their models - I asked to test drive other cars to replicate noise - we drove in a Mazda 3 - could not duplicate the noise after 10 mins of trying (Service Manager driving). I asked to try other CX-5 however was told they had none? although this is a dealership? Was then told by the Service Manager that he would organise a technician from Mazda head office - this will reassure me that this noise is completely normal. I asked for this in writing to give me comfort that if this fault eventuates into something worse after warranty that this will still be covered, I was refused and told he could not do that.

The vehicle after more than 2 years, still continues to make the noise. I have provided videos, I have done numerous driving sessions with the mechanic. The most disappointing thing out of all this is the lack of care for their customers post purchase. I never received a call from anyone from head office in relation to organising a drive with any technician. Appalling service - safe to say I will never purchase a Mazda again nor will I purchase anything from Upper Mount Gravatt.

Great vehicle - but for road noise – Two vehicle couple (other vehicle is VW Touareg), we have owned this vehicle since new in 2015. Great car, smooth, gutsy, good road manners, reliable, diesel engine is economical (consistently 6/100 on country trip, 8/100 around town), good technology (but not as good as VW Touarag, our other car), roomy (friends late model Rav4 is much bigger… Read more

Worst after sales service, your better off buying a second hand car – Usually giving good feedback is my forte. Unfortunately that’s not the case for my review today. I was directed to the head office of madza to resolve these problems. To begin with the staff… Read more

were kind. Took weeks to get back to me, but were kind. After they asked me on countless occasions what I wanted as the best outcome they could not offer me. I graciously accepted this, as it was best case scenario for me and tried to move on with another outcome. My case manager then continuously spun tails, and when finally coming to a decision- not what I asked for at all, instead, kept going back to the my first best case scenario. Months later my second request is still not being heard. Instead they make their own outcomes and not listening to me at all. I’m a kind person- but madza has without a doubt made me a most bitter and untrusting person.

This issue is still not resolved, and I have no faith left that madza will be able to help me at all. If I wanted no after sales service I would have bought a second hand car. Which I wish I had of done now. If your looking for after sales service- keep looking, as madza is not the company that will help you.

If I could give a 0 score, it would be a 0. 1 of 5 is being too kind.

Beware of genuine hidden tow hitch. Space saver spare – Purchased new and asked for advice on towbar to tow a camper. down on my back on the ground in order to see how to install the vertical connecting tube and fit and secure a 16mm pin in a hole. I then have to repeat this process when i hook up my camper to attach and detach the safety chains. It also came with a portable wiring harness which hangs out the back door. I do not have the flexibility of a young person, or gymnast. What on earth was Mazda thinking when they came up with this stupid impractical design? I now have to replace the tow bar with a non-genuine article which I can at least access .... at my own cost.

It is about as smart as putting the vehicle jack and accessories at the front of the rear space saver wheel well ... just to make sure you have to get everything out of the back of the vehicle in order to retrieve it.

How to ruin an otherwise lovely car experience.

2 lite under powered – I purchased my car from a Mazda dealer in March 2018 and have had no issues at all , being the mid spec model it came with all the safety features . If I were to buy another one I would get the slightly bigger 2.4 litre engine . Having being on some highway trips the 2 litre engine feels underpowered going up hills . Apart from this the car drives well and is very comfortable for taller people like myself . Show details

Great Car only 1 fault – I have a Mazda CX5 2016 model car has always been serviced at a Mazda dealership. Car goes exceptionally well only problem I have with it is a design fault. camera, as well as the blind spot monitoring. I have an old narrow blue stone alleyway to enter through to my apartment carpark and it's acrobatic at the best of times to get in and out, so with a larger car than before, the sensors have been much appreciated. I hope the powered electrics last a long time, as I have always been wary of everything being powered and not manual due to the inability to use a window for instance if the power goes, but it is very convenient and Mazda have a good history.

Fantastic safety features – Used every day about 70-80 k a day. Truly an Suv which is hard to beat for safety features and at the same time great looks all around. Servicing is capped for 3 years and is reasonable priced. One irritation is its very occasional habit of not restarting immediately when engaging gear at traffic lights whilst in skyactiv mode. Amazing! – I purchased a second hand 2015 model this year and I’m in love! In my opinion, it’s the perfect size - heaps of room for passengers and heaps of boot space without being too big that it’s hard to park. feel overwhelmed by the size. Despite the feeling of a smaller SUV, it is quite big inside, with plenty of room for the family. The boot is an excellent size, and something that’s often overlooked in smaller SUV’s. That’s not the case with the Mazda.

Style-wise, it looks great. I love the lines on this model. I have the Akera. The wheels and lights look sleek, and the leather interior is amazing.

The Diesel engine is tough and economical.

seat is really for show. Theres not too much leg room and the basic cx5 does not have rear ac.

The seats do fold down and you can fit a washing machine and ikea furniture in the back.

I have two young children and its a great family car with isofix for the child seats. But if you have 3 kids to put in the back you will struggle even with just two child seats as not much room is left in the middle.

It is a very expensive vehicle compared to our number 2 choice the Hyundai i30. But mazdas seem to hold thier value very well and almost have 0 maintenance issues. Weve had the car for 3 years now and still no issues at all.
