Save same time and look past this company – I am on my 3rd attempt to take out pet insurance. I have waited on hold for 20 mins to talk to someone twice only to be hung up on without even an answer(middle of the days-am). So I called Medibank life insurance they answered straight away and couldn’t help or say why the pet area wasn’t working. Im going round and round in circles and no… Read more
luck. If you want to waste an hour+ of your time and get hung up on then get a quote from them. I just tried to get new insurance for the 3rd time I got an answer this time and even tho I said I had been through this she had to put me on hold again. Enough is enough look past this company they are terrible to deal with you cant even get a quote. I’d say get one online if anything. UPDATE: After trying to call and do mediation I was put on hold for 30 mins, then got a lady from a non English speaking country I couldn’t understand, and despite qualifying for a multi pet discount tried to offer me insurance I could get cheaper online with no other pets insured(whole reason to wait on phone was for them to add this messsly 5% discount as I already have a pet insured), 30 mins for 1st for the rep, then I ask to talk to her manager again on hold for the manager 40 mins on hold or talking to someone I couldn’t understand I gave up and went with woolies way quicker easier to deal with and you get 10% off groceries every month. Save time and money and go with Woolworths insurance!!!Id be happy to take this review down if the party will call and explain why about 4 hours of my life were wasted going around on circles to buy your product. I don't know how they survive this they are the most expensive are not Australian you talk to someone overseas you cant understand? One of the worst company’s Ive ever dealt with. If you do choose the product definatly try and do everything online the phone service is the worst Ive ever dealt with!!!!!
Worst insurance company ever – If I could rate 0 I would. What a joke. My dog was brought into Australia from overseas had to go through extensive testing to ensure he was healthy. Only 3 months in Australia and he had to have a procedure which resulted in desexing, some teethe remove and a lesion cut out. The total vet costs were $1800. Insurance only covered $100. I have… Read more
insurance for my other dog which at the age of 15 had to have 3 procedures done and they covered 80% of his cost. Medibank pet insurance is not worth taking they are snakes. I canceled the policy immediately after this experience

Excellent. Easy to claim and fast approval – My 16 weeks old Toy Poodle had an accidental fracture that needed a very expensive surgery to repair. Medibank has been amazing and we couldn’t recommend the ultimate policy high enough. After paying more that $5000 in Vet Fees ( surgery, overnight stays, medication etc) a claim was made and 80% of what we paid was back in our back account within 48hs of submission. Very Happy Customers. Show details · 1
Price gouging and no respect for the veterinary profession – I am a veterinarian who has had Medibank Insurance for my dog for 8years. Her Monthly premium is now $208 a month, increasing 25% per year in the last 4 years, when on average I have claimed less $300 per year for her arthritis medication. They offer no professional discount ( unlike other insurers whom give a 10% premium discount to… Read more
Veterinarians) for Veterinarians even when our claims are always 50% less than the general public. Absolutely disgraceful. Will be actively recommending against Medibank insurance at the 10+ new puppy or kitten consults I see per day *** update 16th Feb. Still no contact from medibank with regards to my policy that is due to renew in 2 days; what a surprise. Quick ( less then 24hrs) to decline insurance claims I submit for owners pets, yet almost a month with no contact when the shoes on the other foot. In the event my policy roles over without any correspondence from medibank I will be proceeding with the following https://www.afca.org.au/make-a-complaint/insurance

2 claims made and very happy – Our Lab girl has been fighting off a nasty ear infection since the start of the year. 7 trips to the vet and well over $1000 in bills. I honestly never thought my insurance would cover that. But it did. I sent the invoices and the vet consult notes and I’m beyond happy with the outcome. The return was fair and it’s definitely made my premiums… Read more · 1
worthwhile. I’ve had 4 dogs with Medibank for over a decade. I’ve only needed to claim for 2 and it’s been stress and hassle free both times. I can’t speak to anyone else’s experience but mine has been A+.
problem adding my claim – Matt was so helpfull and patient guideing me through the portal. im not freat on line and the fact that he was so kind and thoughtful really made my day. Show details · 1

Seriously, don’t bother – Got the ultimate pet insurance and thought this will save me heaps! Nope! Just had a vet visit for $1800 and got a whopping $19.50 back (and only got that back after they “mistakingly” rejected my claim). A few separate line items of things that were apparently pre-existing but no notations from my vet indicating as such? Must have some sort of… Read more
psychic ability knowing things me and my vet don’t. My pup also has suspected cruciate ligament damage and we’re waiting on results - it hasn’t even been confirmed yet and I called to see if it is cruciate ligament damage can I claim after 6 month waiting period? Even though the vet noted it happened after I initially took out insurance? Consultant said no because I’ve already taken him in it’s now considered pre-existing and that I should’ve made the claim to waive the waiting period for it before getting him treated and paying for it (didn’t pay for cruciate ligament damage repair, paid to see what is wrong with his leg) And now because it’s considered “pre-existing” they won’t cover the cost at all, ever. So.. Im basically paying the full vet bill plus donating extra to this despicable pet insurance company. Thieves at work here. Steer clear. Considering changing my private health now too. Medibank are crooks.

No better than a scam pet insurance – My dog recently had two visits to the vet. The first was to investigate a sore paw. This required sedation. Cost was about $450. Second visit was a follow up and additional annual vaccination and ear check. Cost was about $320. Medibank Pet insurance split the invoices into different sections and charged two events of $200 excess. In the end I am… Read more
to get about $185 back. I am with Medibank private health insurance and I don’t have to pay excess every time I go to the doctor for a different ailment so why do I have to do this with pet insurance? Total ripoff imo and will be looking at alternative insurance.

Read the product disclosure carefully! – We cancelled our Ultimate pet insurance today for our two puppies during the cooling off period after paying $1200. So mad! One of our puppies saw a vet due to diarrhea which turned out to be caused by her expensive kibble. She also wasn’t toilet training like her brother, so I mentioned it to the vet who then did a urine test and explained it… Read more
can be because of a urine infection. Taking her to the vet during the cooling off period, and having this in the vet notes automatically means we cannot claim any future bills if she has either of these symptoms in the next 18 months. Not only that, even if we take her to the vet but don’t lodge a claim during the 18 months we won’t be able to possibly claim any bills for the rest of her life relating to these symptoms. We cannot insure her anywhere else either as these are now pre-existing conditions. This was apparently on page 28 of the product disclosure statement. Lesson learnt!

Thankyou – I was unable to pay my premium on time and was granted a payment extension, no questions asked and no penalty imposed. The customer service officer, Jet, was extremely helpful. This is an insurance company that understands that the cost of living is biting and cares about its policy holders. Show details · 1

Small price to pay for complete peace of mind – We have been unlucky enough to have had to make 3 biggish claims in the last 5 years, but each time Medibank has been easy to deal with and provided prompt payment to the extent insured. Total vet bills would have left us around $30K out of pocket, instead we paid around $6k - big difference! The gap payment feature is brilliant as you don’t even… Read more · 1
have to fork out the whole of the vet bills first before making the claim and waiting for the refund. I can highly recommend Medibank Pet Insurance —- although I would still prefer not to have to make any claim and just have a healthy pet!
Easy to manage pet insurance – Medibank pet insurance is easy to manage. Easy claims process, clear terms and conditions, and quick claims resolution. Very happy with this product for our Corgi! Show details · 1
Relieved we have this pet insurance – Lumps were discovered on my dog’s backside. The vet said that a biopsy needs to be performed and provided me with estimates, depending on what they discover. The estimates ranged from hundreds of dollars to thousands of dollars. It is such a relief knowing that 80% of the costs will be covered. I submitted a pre-authorisation and received the… Read more · 1
go-ahead within 48 hours. The claim was also processed and paid within 48 hours. We are still waiting the results of the biopsy, but I am so relieved that we are covered and that Medibank is there to support us through this process.
Easy to claim and prompt payment – Can’t speak highly enough of Medibank pet insurance. Our dog ended up in the vet for 48 hours. Initially thought it was a snake bite but when he didn’t respond to anti venom it was narrowed down to mushroom toxicity poisoning after finding crops of the yucky fungus in our backyard. The online portal was extremely easy to use. Within 3 days of… Read more · 1
uploading invoices and vet notes we had the money in our account. Best insurance experience yet. Acey is doing great now and we are patrolling the yard on a daily basis for any fresh mushroom growth.

Amazing service and benefits – This review has been a few weeks in the making as I’m still trying to come to terms with losing my beautiful Rottweiler. when my boy was put to sleep and even though I was a blubbering mess, the customer compassion from Brook was nothing short of amazing! Brook was so patient with me and so sympathetic and could relate to my situation as she had the same breed ( a lot of people misjudge rotties, so this was so comforting). Brook even advised me that I can put in a claim for the euthanasia, which I was not aware of, and sure enough, this was approved! Thankyou Medibank pet insurance for exceptional cover over the years! When the time is ready for another 4 legged baby, I will be sure to return to Medibank
Worst customer service with zero consideration for anything outside of their scripted responses – Full of excuses and loop holes when trying to make a claim. Internal dispute representative was even worse to talk to than the customer service team members I dealt with. They have a script that they need to say and just repeat that over and over again. I was offered one month free if I was to agree with their decision to not process my claim.… Read more
Will be taking my complaint further to the AFCA and Ombudsman as they shouldn't be able to get away with it. I have cancelled my policy for both dogs. When I called to cancel I was offered 2 months free for both my dogs. Not even enough compensation to even consider having to deal with anyone from this company every again. I wasn't even able to be told how much money I was going to get back after paying in full 4.5 weeks ago. Apparently is takes 7-10 days for the computer system to work it out. I would suggest to everyone to check start date clearly as I also got scammed to pay from application date not when insurance was approved date. So two weeks with no insurance but I had to pay for it. I would not recommend this company at all. It is a money grab scam who's customer service team seem to be based overseas. Will never have any policy with Medibank ever again and will stir anyone and everyone away from using them. All the fine print has fine print. I will never use any company that Hollard has ownership of.

Purchaser Beware – I was a customer with Medibank Pet insurance and Medibank Health Insurance for approximately six years. I was a loyal customer. cover two months pet insurance. I wouldn’t bother with Medibank. This division of the organisation is content to take your payment and finds excuses not to pay out any of your claims. My cover was the highest level of cover.

Price Gouging at its finest – I pay monthly instalments for my dog insurance. When I took out this policy 2 years ago, I did it for the name thinking they would be the best and their pricing was on par with other providers. For the 2nd year running, I have just been smashed with an increase of $40 PER MONTH on my renewal, with a minimal amount claimed. And they dont care… Read more
because they know they have you on the hook, if you leave for another insurer, you can not claim for any previous ailments or injuries. Its pretty pathetic to put policies up this much for no reason. I would NEVER recommend Medibank Pet Insurance to anyone. Its appalling.

accepted and the very next day just under $7,000 was transferred to my bank account. I was amazed how quickly my claim was settled. Absolutely no regrets and I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
Worst Insurance product I have Invested in – Everything you try to claim is either Pre-existing or not covered. Nowhere is any mention of these terms in the PDS or documentation but they will reject anything and everything that comes their way. Show details

Horrible – Dear whom it may concern, We are writing this letter today on how disgusted we are on your service. We’ve had all 3 of our pets with your insurance for a year. Canceled very shortly after the year ended on the contract. After spending so much money on this Insurance we felt we had to speak out on our experience. We’ve put in a few quotes some… Read more
seemed reasonable but when getting denied for every single one felt unfair.
We went on the monthly payment plan for roughly $120 for all 3 pets adding this all up is a lot of money. Unfortunately 2 of our dogs have been diagnosed with patella luxation on both legs. And believe our other girl will have to go through the same procedure later on. Each leg is roughly $3600 and having to do this on all three dogs is extremely costly for us. So we thought having insurance would benefit us in this way and feel protected but that wasn’t the case.
After being turned turn multiple claims we had to put a stop to it. We had to cancel the insurance as we felt you guys were just taking but not helping even after purchasing the most covered option of insurance. After all the money we spent we felt betrayed in a sense. As we did not get what we thought we were entitled to.

Have to pay for operations in full before they give refund – If your getting pet insurance to cover those large bills for thousands of dollars for an operation DON’T get Medibank. You have to pay the whole amount up front then put in the claim. As a pensioner there’s no way I can just come up with that sort of money. I also got pre approval before the operation. Waste of my money, broke claims down so excess applied to individual items = no claim payout – Initial policy was good value, affordable. Increased dramatically after my first claim when my dog was 6. Jumped from $1,100 last year to $1,700/yr for the current year. Claimed 6 times in 12 years - total claims $1,990.00 Final claim for vet visit (prior to cancelling policy) was broken down into amounts less than my excess of $200 so I received no rebate on $400 vet check up for my 12 year old pup.
