Throughout the months that followed, he consistently demonstrated why he is such a valuable asset to Metro Homes SA. His knowledge of house and land packages is exceptional, but just as importantly, he genuinely listened to what we wanted and helped turn those ideas into a practical reality. We made a few modifications to the original home design to better reflect our personal preferences. These changes were handled promptly and professionally, with all of our requested alterations thoughtfully incorporated. The revised design not only captured our vision perfectly, but also introduced improvements we hadn’t even considered. The end result was exciting, inspiring, and far exceeded our expectations. As our journey progressed, we worked closely with Rebecca Scott, our Customer Service Representative. Rebecca has been outstanding throughout the process. Her role involves supporting clients, answering questions, resolving issues and keeping us informed about the building progress—and she has done all of this with professionalism, efficiency and a genuine willingness to help. No question was too small, and every query was handled promptly and courteously. We could have chosen from many reputable builders in South Australia, but from our perspective, Metro Homes SA stood head and shoulders above the competition. They offered a quality home design within our budget, in the location we wanted, and delivered a level of service that has given us complete confidence in our decision. Our home is now approximately two-thirds complete and, quite frankly, we are gobsmacked by the quality of the workmanship and craftsmanship on display. Every visit to the site leaves us even more impressed than the last—which is saying something, considering we’ve probably inspected it often enough to qualify as unofficial site supervisors! professionalism, honesty, and genuine care for his clients gave us confidence from day one. As first home buyers, that trust meant everything — and it continued right through from signing the contract to handover. At no point did we feel like just another number or sale.
Our Site Supervisor, Randall Lindsay, has a reputation for being one of the best in the business — and our experience absolutely reflected that. Nothing was ever a problem, and his communication was always honest, clear, and friendly, which we really valued throughout the build.
Our Customer Service Representative, Rebecca, was also fantastic. She was consistently friendly, responsive, and approachable — no question ever felt like a bother, and her support made the process feel far less overwhelming.
We also want to acknowledge that the fixed price turn key package delivered on what was promised — everything was included, right down to the drippers in the garden. That level of transparency and delivery gave us real confidence in the process.
That said, we pride ourselves on honesty and authenticity, so it’s important to share that our experience with the selections process was not as positive.
There was initial miscommunication around selection options, which resulted in pressure to make decisions from pre-selected options via an emailed PDF. This didn’t work for us, and while we were ultimately able to arrange all of the in-person selection appointments with the suppliers within the tight timeframe (without delaying our build), it required us to take time away from work and some very understanding suppliers!
At our final selections appointment, we felt rushed and under pressure to finalise decisions quickly to avoid delays. Items we had previously been told would be discussed during this stage felt like an inconvenience rather than part of the process.
Later in the build, we were advised of a supplier change and again presented with alternative options via email — despite having paid for upgraded selections. We were also told this supplier change had only just occurred, which conflicted with information we had heard much earlier.
Once again, there was time pressure to make decisions. We made the effort to visit the new supplier, however after two unsuccessful visits, we were ultimately advised that our original selections with the initial supplier would be honoured.
Unfortunately, there was no apology, no accountability, and no follow-up when this was escalated to management.
Overall, our experience was fantastic, and we would highly recommend the fixed price turn key package — it truly delivered on its promise.
It’s just unfortunate that what could have been an 11/10 experience was impacted by one part of the process that left us feeling like we were the problem, rather than valued customers.

this kind past the three month period are considered a general maintenance item and falls under the responsibility of the homeowner" I consider any cracks subject to inspection, after handing out $800,000 plus for the build. you would think a credible builder would inspect the problem to have it resolved. Like many of the 1 star reviews, I am also feeling mislead, roughly 6 months into the process and ridiculous costings for upgrades and absolutely horrible communications, I still don't know what is happening. I'll be detailing every issue in a blog when I get time and will post a link.
But an overview for this review.
- Sales can do attitude not a reality as soon as deposit paid. - Communication, you don't have a central point of contact so nobody has to take ownership.
- Warning, get your selections done prior to deposit, sneezing will cost you thousands and thousands. (Example tiling, if your still in 1980 and tiling 200*200 tiles you should be ok but if you want to lay larger tiles 300"600 or 600*600 you will be charged 7000 plus extra for a small 2 bath house and that's not counting your tile selections.
- if you pay for any changes to bathroom fixings like shower rose etc, expect to be charged a plumber fee of hundreds as apparently if the plumber has to think about position it's billable. This is no joke.
The list is huge.
Please think twice before signing, I wish I did. I'm not a first time builder and I have recently completed a full remodel and currently installing a new kitchen, tiling 2 bathrooms, I know what tradies charge and it's not what metro are asking.

*Feb 2025* - Finalised most design elements, quote received, PWA signed and $3K deposit paid. At this point contact is ok. However, we were constantly finding mistakes from draftsman, it became my responsibility to quality control basic drawing changes... constant mistakes.
Most of the initial contact was ok, the sales rep was fairly responsive and we felt comfortable after having a discussion with him and the sales manager.

I had been asking for HIA updates since midyear and they continually fail to provide any. They also won't provide a soil test report and claim to have copyright over the document (and also at the same time claim to not have a copy of the document). I don't have the energy to even unpack that ridiculous statement. At this point, all you can do is laugh really.
Long story short, I've had zero contact from Metro after sending them 3 emails in recent weeks. They were all too happy to take our deposit and selling us the "sales dance". They're now ignoring my emails, never sent a HIA that was part of our PWA and now ghosting us for a refund.
Still waiting for a full refund of PWA deposit, let's see where this goes...
From our experience, we can't recommend Metro Homes. They're not a detail oriented company and they struggle badly with basic communication.

that the house frame would be steel instead of wood. That was a plus but were not advised that it would take an extra three months to get the frame specifications. When I enquired I got a copy and past email with the same answer, ie, waiting for documents then we can get approval etc…. communication quickly became inconsistent, and obtaining essential information became a frustrating challenge.
When we met with them to sign the preliminary agreement, we were only informed about an additional $9,000 deposit after we had signed. This was brought up in the same meeting, immediately following the signing without any prior mention in earlier discussions. There was no transparency around this cost, and we were blindsided by the sudden financial obligation.
We requested that all communication be via email due to our full-time work and the need for a clear written record. Despite this, responses were often delayed, vague, or required multiple follow-ups just to receive basic information.
There were also issues with documentation and coordination. In one instance, a necessary document from an external party was not followed up on, and after ongoing delays, we stepped in to organise it ourselves. It was frustrating to take on tasks we had reasonably expected the builder to handle.
We eventually requested a refund when it became clear the relationship was not progressing. While a partial refund was ultimately received, it took over a month from the initial request and only came after repeated follow-ups. Around the same time, we also struggled to obtain a copy of our signed agreement. Despite being told it had been “filed” months earlier, it was not provided until weeks later and only after persistent chasing.
We did our best to remain patient and reasonable throughout, but at times we were made to feel like we were the problem simply for asking for clarity and follow-through.
Based on this experience, we would not feel comfortable recommending Metro to anyone. The process caused unnecessary stress, delays, and a complete loss of confidence.

Signed the final contract in Feb last year after more back and forth because costings blew out by $50k more than the initial quote and I had to delete large elements of the home. Then had to travel all over Adelaide to do selections in March/April. It then took until July for them to get to my block. Another month to do the slab. Another two months to get to frame work. It’s now January and nothing internal has occurred after 5 months of construction. I’ve seen other houses be built in this time frame (at least in 6 months). Communication with my admin person is quick and he answers my questions but he’s just the middle guy. If you’re not in their build estates, they don’t care about you at all and you go to the bottom of the chain. They say 6-9 month build times at initial talks and then say 12 months after you’ve signed, and then continue to delay the pour of the slab. I’ve been left feeling frustrated, let down and very upset by this experience.

prior kept sending me to see their display homes (very high specs and big houses). As I had a narrow block, and was worried my house would feel small, I wanted a display home on a narrow block to have a feel of what my house would be like. Metro’s consultant sent me to a display home at Mt Barker (Serrata) and I fell in love with that house so much that I incorporated the kitchen/alfresco/dinning layout into my build. And Metro’s quote turned out to be the best of all 6 quotes I got. During selections, I was paired with a lovely lady who did everything she could to accommodate me and my timeframes. She also answered questions swiftly.
Then when the building process started, the CSR was amazing from our first contact and was and still is an absolute joy to deal with. I don’t think a week went by that I didn’t call or email, and he was very prompt with his responses. I had 2 site supervisors during the course of the build, both were fantastic. However, the second supervisor worked tirelessly with the CSR to ensure my house was completed 2 months before my contracted finish time. From slab to handover, 10 months in total.
I had my house warming 2 days after my house was handed over to me, and everyone loved my house and kept calling it a display home. Not one single person complained about anything.
Metro Homes did live up to their motto, and built me a quality home.
