Absolute rip off, air con wasn’t working so they came and quoted that it would need a rejuvenation. Charged 3k for the “rejuvenation” rocked up at 4.30 and called me at nearly 5 saying the aircon was all good. It worked for a day then stopped again. The technician arrived at just after 2pm .
He did not even get on the roof. To inspect the unit.
He said we would Need a full work. Which would cost Upto $1200
If this was the case we should have been asked these questions up front.
We are now out of pocket 140$ For nothing - there was no investigation on site.
This is a scam - be careful-

We have been advised that the unit could have had an annual maintenance service,
and this would have painted a picture instead they wanted the $1200 full service-
And we were told a replacement would be around 3- 4 k we got a quote for 8500$
This company will scam you out of the 140 and not even look at the unit be aware

are required to pay $141 upfront for the service call, whether or not you proceed with their service. Once the technician arrives at your home, this amount must be paid immediately before any inspection is done.
The service provider refused to give an estimated price range (minimum or maximum) for the cleaning service prior to visiting.
My system is a Mitsubishi refrigerated cooling and heating system (the most basic model).
I was quoted the following prices for regular cleaning service:
Basic service (Silver package): approx. $2,100
Premium service (Gold package): approx. $2,400
From a consumer psychology perspective: once you've committed to paying the $141 inspection fee, you’re more likely to accept whatever service cost they quote, rather than decline it and lose the $141 — not to mention having to start over and look for a different provider. As a result, many customers end up accepting a high service fee just to avoid the hassle of restarting the whole process.
The technician spent around 1 hour and 45 minutes at my house (from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM).
The total amount I had to pay was: $141 + $2,190 = $2,331
In my opinion, this cost is far too expensive for cleaning a single basic Mitsubishi refrigerated heating/cooling system.
I’m not writing this to complain about or praise Metropolitan Air Conditioning Melbourne. This is simply my personal experience and opinion, shared in good faith to help others who may be considering this company — so you’ll know what to expect in terms of potential costs.
One final note: when the technician arrived, they asked me to write a 5-star review on Google before the service was even done. I refused to do that — I only leave reviews after I’ve completed using the service.

for call-out. In fact, it was for a person in spotless coveralls with the company logo to come and provide us a quote. As we also have cooling, he gave us two options: servicing both cooling and heating for $2.4K or servicing the heating only for $1.2K. Mistake #2: Fell into the trap of choosing between enormous and outrageous price. We accepted the $1249 quote, assuming that an oldish system might require some work and parts. We were required to pay $75 deposit. The person to do the job was expected within an hour. Mistake #3: While waiting, should’ve read the reviews and cancelled the call. This would’ve limited the losses to $200+. The technician GT arrived in a van with a rocket on the roof saying Mr Emergency. He said that the motor driving the flap has failed in a closed position. Allegedly he force-opened the flap and set the zone to be always ON. This is the end of rationing the energy by two retired people, spending a lot of time at home. When asked if it was the motor that had failed, or the controller did not send an Open signal, we got a blank stare. When asked if it can be fixed properly, he said that we shouldn’t be bothered, as the parts cost hundreds of dollars and extra for labour. No written description of the works done was left, despite paying $59 for this. No signs of rejuvenation of the system either. The 5-star reviews are vague and don’t describe the scope of work, while the negative ones are very specific. We feel like old couple who was taken advantage of. It is not a consolation that we are not alone.
Was given a quote of $28,000 to install 2 aircon units! Unbelievable. That included completely unnecessarily replacing my switchboard for $7000. They generously offered to do the work the same day, obviously hoping I would be stupid enough to accept before checking other suppliers. I suppose enough people fall for this to make it worth their while. Utterly disgraceful.

We were not happy with the $140 callout fee, especially because we did not need immediate service, but we are time poor and have a very sick child we are caring for, so agreed to pay it and get the quote done thinking that the cost of the work quoted would be honest and reasonable. The quote we were given on the spot by Metropolitan for an air-conditioner service was ridiculous ($1249). It was 6 times the price of many other honest companies in Adelaide (the average quote for servicing, often including more work than Metropolitan quoted, is $200 - $300). I was pressured to sign for the work to be done immediately. Luckily, I was shocked at $1249, decided to compare other quotes first and told Metropolitan that I would get back to them at a later date. The young guys from Metropolitan who come out to quote and do repairs are doing what they have been paid to do per their contract with Metropolitan ….i.e. pressure people. We have young adult sons who are tradies, and would be devastated if they thought that it was okay to work within these “pressure people and charge unreasonable amounts” company guidelines. What is really horrible is that management of this company are not honest, they do not care that they are ripping people off. Our communities rely on honest trades people, especially to help those who are vulnerable and cannot stick up for themselves. I believe Metropolitan plumbing are being investigated by journalists and government regulators at present . DO NOT use them. (PS the duct cleaning quote - single story house - was over $3000!!). it. A technician arrived at 7 PM, quoted $1,249 to "service" the air con (claiming this would likely resolve the issue), and then called another technician to perform the service an hour later. In the end, I paid $1,249 just for a diagnosis.
The real kicker? They later quoted over $7,000 to replace the system—when a quick Google search showed I could buy the same unit for around $2,000 and have it installed for $1,000.
Even worse, I later found out the unit was still under warranty! If the issue had been a manufacturing fault, the repair would have been completely free. Even if it had been a self-inflicted issue, the warranty service would have only cost $200.
It became clear this was a rip-off operation. Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere!

Technician booked to arrive in 30 minutes. 2hrs wait; although did receive text messages updating expected arrive time. 20 minutes later A/C working (minus time to go back down to car to get headlamp) and $1249 later A/C working. Tech stated that he performed a "hard reset" and queried if there had been a power outage as everything appears to be in fine order considering the age and location of the unit. 20 minutes after technician left (electrician, because the aircon guy was on leave) it stopped working. Response to contact took 4 days with a quote to provide additional unspecified rejuvenation and re-gas as a leak was detected during the technician's visit $2829. Requested a detailed invoice of the rejuvenation that had occurred, declined as its outlined in the recorded message. Will never call these guys again.

Made a booking through Metropolitan. Mr Emergency arrived instead. Do not use this service. Quoted over $2000 to diagnose the issue, not fix it, + $140 booking fee. The job was completed by a different company for $230 without a call out fee. Don't waste your time or money.
Completely mislead when you book in. I specfically asked if the call out fee included inspecting the airconditoning unit and then repair onsite. The answer was yes if you accept the quote. for a GOLD SERVICE Clean... no diagnostics no idea what the problem is. So you basically pay $140 for a quote. They then send someone back out to do the Clean and dont guarantee the unit will work... Sadly this is my error as I didnt do reasearch like I would normall.

Metropolitans call out fee was the same as the others quote to actually service the unit. All I can say is do not use their services.
Scammers fraud warning! Report to the police and ACCC straight away. Step 1:Call out fee $142. Step 3: Another $4500 if you want trouble-shooting of faults. Step 4: $8000 if you need the faulty parts to be repaired. The amount of money charged has nothing to do with repairing the faulty unit. Better call a real professional. I wish I have checked the review here before rang them. Do not approach these people. Really shame on them. They just rob you without gun or knife. couldn’t be repaired they would take that money off a brand new unit if installed…… now I have had this serviced every two years and the sold fella that was doing it retired and I can’t use him. Obviously now he always charged around $300 for the service and metros were going to charge me $1249 , are you on drugs no way . Since then I had another company come in and serviced my heater with part and service $375 inc and now our house is warm … too easy …. Booked service to vacuum aircon unit as it was new. Paid the call out fee. Guy turned up and said $1100 to vacuum the unit. 15 minutes job. He refused to do it as he didn't install the unit unless my son paid the $1100. As a young lad first time home owner he didn't have $1100 and thank God or he would've been scammed out of more money. RC service - came when they said they would and messaged when on the way. $141 for call out fee and $1839 to replace two copper pipes under sink with flexi - don’t think he was even here for 30 mins- will not be calling Metro Group in future for anything!
Contacted the merchant who charged me upfront $140 to book a inspection visit, called 1 hour later to cancel the service and never received my money back. I recommend do a due diligence before engaging their services.

reviews here. Booked a technician for a standard annual service quote for a ducted system, a separate split system, and filter fabric replacement. The term "rejuvenation" was mentioned during the booking, but when pressed for a definition, it didn't sound any different from the general service I was looking for, and what was stated on the website. Paying $140 odd in advance for a site visit, "full evaluation" and quote stung a bit, but everything is more expensive and labour is in short supply, right?
(a) No sign of tech during 3 hour booking window.
(b) I did get through on the phone pretty quickly when I called 10 minutes after the deadline, and was told the tech was on his way (and that they were used to operating in the dark and the rain). By now I was forewarned somewhat by the reviews on this site.
(c) Tech took a quick look at the external units (didn't look inside, let alone up inside the roof), and to his credit he did say that they looked pretty new, and that THE COMPANY DIDN'T ACTUALLY DO REGULAR MAINTENANCE SERVICES FOR HEALTHY SYSTEMS, so they probably weren't a good fit for me. Nor did they replace filter fabrics, which would have been nice to know a month ago! I'm pretty sure he wasn't supposed to be quite that honest, but the company website was a complete lie:

(d) When the quote came through it was astonishingly massive. Incomprehensibly HUGE. And based on what? The site visit was pointless - that quote was nothing more than a template that had nothing to do with my system. I felt sorry for the tech - he was clearly uncomfortable with company policy.
We paid a $140 call out fee to be told that in order to have our issue diagnosed we would need to pay a further $1200 fee to service our ducted heating unit and then that doesn’t guarantee the problem being fixed. According to [Name Removed] from their bookings department it is standard practice that everyone gets charged this service fee regardless of the problem. This is a scam! Stay away from this company!
Warning About Metropolitan Plumbing & Air Conditioning – a guy came and quoted me $1249.00 for gas wall heater service, the same service I got quoted for $297 including tax from another company. It is a complete rip-off. Please avoid using them.

Do your research. This company has numerous complaints against them and a pattern of questionable practices — especially when dealing with vulnerable people.

I wish i had read reviews before using this company.. Total rip off.1200 for a service!! I sent many emails but no explanation how they arrive at this figure. Should not cost this much. No pensioner concession either.
Scam. Charge 1250 to come and say it will be almost 4k to regas, but the 1250 will be taken off a new unit. They have 'fixed prices' that are triple other places. 10k for a Mitsubishi that rite price sells for 3300. Avoid.
