Disappointed! – Have had this vacuum for 2 years and although it sucks extremely well, I have already had 3 things go wrong with it. 1)cord retraction no longer works, 2)when pole is lengthened it won't stay extended and 3)small brush won't stay in place when extended. It is also heavy and cumbersome. It's like Miele have concentrated all their efforts on the… Read more

The vacuum motor and performance is great BUT the accessories are terrible , flimsy and expensive to replace . Had mine for 3 yrs and from the start had issues. I’ve had to get another floor head $150 ( the steel strip underneath was scratching the floors ) Telescopic wand $115( kept sliding down and not locking ) Dust Cartridge $160( keep it very… Read more

clean and regularly washed but u carnt buy the filter u have to buy the whole plastic cartridge again . Handle with attached brush $199 each and I’ve had 2 onto my 3rd this week ( handle is to long and thin it bends no matter how gentle u are . Keeps snapping in all places . So terribly disappointed . With all these costs I could have gone and got another vacuum .

Very good and easy to use – I recently cleaned a house and they provided the Miele Blizzard CX1 to be used. I found this machine easy to use had excellent suction and was used on carpet and tiles and lino without a problem. The floors were very clean when finished. I never had any problems with the machine tipping over at any time and this included using it on carpeted stairs. I was also reasonably quiet to use. Loved it. Show details

Best vacuum I’ve used, strong suction, efficient and quiet, but not flawless – I bought the Miele Blizzard CX1 Excellence vacuum cleaner after moving to a new house which needed a lot of cleaning to be done. I basically wanted the best vacuum available, one that would perform well and would last many years. After doing my research, I chose this one, and bought it on Amazon in November 2020 for $549. It’s the first new… Read more

vacuum cleaner I’ve bought in my life. I’m used to living in sharehouses with crappy, old or cheap vacuums without much suction power. I’d say the Miele Blizzard is the best vacuum cleaner I’ve used. And I’ve used it extensively since I bought it, over the past 18 months.

The most important aspect to me is that it has a good suction. It also has the ability to turn the suction down if desired, which I find useful. It achieves this at a maximum wattage of only 1100 Watts, or a nominal 900 Watts, which seems lower than many other comparable vacuum cleaners.

Note that this is a bagless vacuum cleaner. I would only ever buy a bagless. I don’t get why people buy bagged vacuum cleaners - why would you want the additional hassle and expense of having to continually buy new bags for your vacuum cleaner, not to mention the additional waste?

The next most important aspect to me is that it has a high efficiency filter, in this case the “HEPA AirClean lifetime filter”. However it was tricky to determine exactly what proportion of particles it was able to filter. The Amazon page, under “From the manufacturer” lists the filtration at 99.98% of dust particles, while under “Description” lists it at 99.95%. I couldn’t see the information on the Miele Australia website so I contacted Miele who stated that this filter actually has a 99.999% filtration rate. Double checking the Miele Australia website now confirms this. So it indeed appears to achieve HEPA standards. This is important to me because we have hazards around the house like lead-based paint, and mouldy surfaces.

The vacuum cleaner operates surprisingly quietly (compared to what I’m used to, at least). I also like that it has a long cord which has always rolled up correctly for me once I press the button. And I like the large buttons for rolling up the cable and for turning the unit on or off.

While the vacuum generally seems to be good quality, I’ve found it’s not without its flaws. I was surprised for such an expensive vacuum cleaner how clunky some of the mechanisms seem to be. The mechanism to open the bottom of the dust tank to empty it has twice opened on me accidentally while I’ve been lifting the tank out of the machine, resulting in me spilling all of the dust all over the floor again. Presumably I failed to correctly close the door the previous time I put it in, but I would have hoped that it would be harder to do it incorrectly. On my unit it’s also difficult to extract the tank itself from the vacuum cleaner. You’re supposed to pull a handle up which is presumably supposed to release the tank, but nothing happens for mine - I assume the mechanism on mine is faulty. I therefore have to yank the tank up to release it.

This product also features an Eco Comfort handle with integrated dusting brush brush. Disappointingly, the mechanism which locks the brush into place once you slide it down failed on me. I contacted Amazon to claim the fault under warranty and they were very helpful, offering to refund me the $120 to purchase the new handle. That’s the problem with integrating the dusting brush into the handle. When one tiny piece of plastic fails, it requires a $120 new handle to replace it! The handle is also a little bulky so it doesn’t get into all the nooks and crannies easily. It seems comfortable and ergonomic to use though.

The vacuum has a self-cleaning feature which turns on spontaneously, when it senses it needs to, while you’re using the machine, and runs a program for about 30 seconds where it tries to knock off the fine dust particles from its filter. However the filter does eventually fill up and you will need to empty it manually from time to time. I wasn’t aware of this originally, and I was running my machine and the red light kept turning on, and dropping the suction right back. It took me a while to realise I needed to empty and clean the filter. The machine is also quite heavy (~9 kg), but I think that’s a fair trade-off for its strong performance.

Overall I rate this as an excellent vacuum cleaner and would recommend it. I think it’s worth paying more for a quality machine like this one.

Made of weak plastic – I had my last Nilfisk vacuum cleaner for 20years but decided to replace it with this Miele. Suction is quite good but parts of the vacuum have already started to break after using it 3-4 times for the past 2 weeks. It is almost new - I haven't even used enough times to empty it yet.

Almost great, but not – Mostly a great vacuum cleaner, but I'm here to point out the one huge disappointment (for us). 1. The integrated dusting brush is rubbish. It requires a bit of a knack to move it back and forth, but even more importantly it's poor quality. The bristles are weak and the mechanism that locks it into position wore out after about 18 months which… Read more

renders it completely useless because it no longer locks into position. We had to buy an after market brush. The integrated brush is a great idea but this design seems really poor, which is why it failed. We would have given it 5 stars, but the brush is important for us.

Nothing to write home about...its a pass – Bought the graphite 1100w cx1 excellence with ALLTEQ head. We currently have a Dyson DC23 powerhead and was expecting the Miele to have a lot of power from the reviews we've read and seen. We are underwhelmed by the suction as it's something you would expected from a half decent vacuum. It did seem to pick up fine dust in the carpets but no… Read more

better than our old Dyson. Also the build quality doesn't scream quality however better than the brittle plastics of the Dyson. The hoses, connectors and body don't feel premium and you dont have confidence dragging the vacuum by the hose fearing it WILL break. We also have a Bosch Relaxxx bagless which although heavier feels much better built and have no issue pulling it by the hose. Not sure what the hype is around how "sealed" the CX1 is as emptying the dust container isn't that much better than emptying the Dyson. You still get dust puffing back up so I'd say it doesn't make much of a difference. Being our first Miele, I think the product doesn't live up to the hype or it's reputation. I somehow feel Miele is riding off their reputation and taken a few shortcuts to bring to market a product that can compete in a "lower" price point, and its noticeable. Better cleaning might be achieved I presume with a powerhead but seems the unit doesn't have power connectors to run one even if you wanted to pay over $600 for a powerhead. The suction driven turbohead is $140 and a must have they should have included I think. First and our last Miele I think. Disappointed.

I’ll never buy Miele again – While I cannot fault the suction of this vacuum, the supposed long lasting quality is extremely disappointing. I’m not considering that two years is long lasting. Great machine with design faults – Designers need to think of their target market - eg people who do housework. Bagless – Bought this because was both Miele and bagless and it is a lovely machine. Take the point about the dusting brush being a bit short but I don’t dust with my vacuum so doesn’t worry me. It could have been a great vacuum...but – I am a first time Miele user. This is a good vacuum, however, Miele in their shortsightedness decided NOT to provide an unattached brush so the user could then attach it to whatever part of the hose the user saw fit (for cobwebs, cleaning your car, skirting boards etc) instead they have a built in brush located near the top of hose...very poor… Read more

design flaw. To makes things worse you cannot even buy one...they don't make one...I looked into it...not happy at all as this is an attachment that is widely used.

And

You may laugh but also in their cost cutting exercise (or improved design!) they decided to make the width, yes the width of the cord thinner...the flow on effect from this is the vacuum rarely manages to easily pass over the cord so you are forever going back to lift the machine over the cord. Furthermore skinny cords means they get caught on things a lot (fridges) - so to save cents the company has not used sense.

So the vacuum is good, but the companies greed to not include a unattached brush and not even manufacturing one is abysmal, you need to purchase another cheap plastic head attachment for hard floors and a skinny cord...this is supposed to be progress, once upon a time all these things came with $20 vacuum cleaners now you must pay, pay or we just don't have them...disgraceful...
