VACUUM - MIELE - Cat & Dog: Highly effective for cat hair removal and terrific suction! – After years with mediocre vacuums at the cheaper end of the market I decided I wanted a vacuum with serious suction, and importantly - that would make easy work of cat hair. This model did all this! A cranky white-haired moulting cat, and a chocolate-black sofa - demands a regular vacuum. The suction and general turbo head is very good. The… Read more ·  1

smaller turbo-head designed specially for furniture, etc, is amazing! Loud - but effective. While the suction of the unit appears still good after almost three years, the turbo heads need some maintenance to restore effectiveness. The brushes in the heads have worn little, though needs threads removed from time to time, that wrap around the rotating brush. BEWARE - use near any cords, blind cords, or other cord-like items... they will very easily, and violently get caught in the turbo-head.

The variable suction control buttons come in handy. Especially removing flower petals/stamen from tablecloths etc.

While the head effectiveness overall has dropped a little with time - I still strongly recommend this unit.

con – this claims to be specifically for pet owners with reviews claiming it lifts dog and cat hair. yes it does if you hoover every day but if youre like most working people who only get to be at home at the weekend its an absolute waste of a lot of money. i should have heard warning bells when i saw the size of the hoover bag inside. its a large… Read more

teabag! no serious hoover for dogs would have something so small. so if you like hoovering every day yes this is ideal for you. otherwise buy a dyson or something that actually does the job.

Only lasted 3 years of intermittent use – 3 years ago replaced a faithful old Wertheim with this Miele Cat & Dog. The suction was close to being as powerful as the Wertheim (which was and is the most powerful vacuum I've seen) when new, and for 2.5 years the Miele was good for occasional use - maybe 5-6 times per year. But now it is broken, and not through any abuse either. The motor… Read more

still works but the suction doesn't - the lid to the bag and filter area has the cheapest plastic hinges I've seen and they have somehow failed - it no longer shuts tight. the result of this is that the suction now pulls around the lid rather than through the hose. Basically it is a failure that renders the whole machine useless and would be impossible to repair for less than the cost of the vacuum. It's now junk.

I'm very upset with Miele - supposedly a good brand - on two counts. One, as stated is these incredibly rickety plastic hinges on the bag lid. But two is the whole design of it which seemed to have put a lot of air pressure stress on the lid in the first place.

There is a happy postscript to this. The Wertheim was only replaced because it had started to wear around the point where the hose meets the body and required duct tape around the wear point. But I didn't have the heart to throw it out so it sat in the garage for 3 years (in the box the Miele came in) in its own filth and somewhere along the line acquired a nest of insects in there too. With the Miele failing I dug the Wertheim out, manually emptied the full bag (no spare bags any more), shooed away the insects, re-taped the worn hose, and started her up. Started up quiet and with more suction than the Miele ever had. The old powerhead worked great too. We will use this Wertheim for a while more and when needed replace it with another Wertheim - never again another Miele.

What a relief! – Vacuuming is now a breeze and a pleasure! In the past I always bought cheap vacuums. I hated vacuuming and put it off for as long as I could. I loathed the noise, the smell, the physical struggle, the emotional tension, the woeful results - for me, it was a complete nightmare. I finally decided that enough was enough. would spend the money on a decent machine. I researched all the product reviews and decided on the Miele Cat & Dog Turbo. (I have a dog that constantly sheds hair.)

Well! Vacuuming is now a breeze. It glides quietly, easily, cleanly, and sucks up everything. Everything about this machine makes sense - the tools are great and stack on board, the turbo head has powerful suction, and I love that the cleaner rod slots into the barrel when finished. Now, I vacuum before I really need to. Amazing.

(If I were to improve it, I would probably make the cord a bit longer - although it is long enough for my house - but that is my only suggestion.)

It's just an outstanding Vacuum – I had always wanted a Miele, should have taken the plunge and bought one years ago. I have always had vacuum's with an electronic power head, I knew Miele didn't sell one, I was a bit cautious of this, but just went with it anyway & I could not be any happier! I like the fact that it always has excellent product reviews. My place is all floor… Read more

boards with carpet only in the bedrooms, it vacuums the whole place perfectly, bags last me around 4 to 6 months of cleaning with a 4 pack of bags costing $24, this is relatively inexpensive.

It has a good range of handy tools. It has absolutely awesome suction, so much so that it is impossible for me to vacuum the bedrooms with the standard head, I have to change it to the turbine head every time, which is fine as this fluffs up the carpet beautifully. It can still be hard work if the power setting is too high, but this doesn't bother me to much as I know I am getting a really good clean. The vacuum is pretty quiet, is easy to pack up & store and has the longest cord out of any of my previous vacuum's.

I love the fact that this vacuum is made in it's country of origin, Germany.

who needs a power head anyway? – Purchase this vacuum cleaner after being shocked at how much wertheim vacuums have gone up in price. We have a Mastiff that sheds more hair than any other creature on earth, so I was looking for something very similar to the trusty wertheim we have been using for 8 years. I wanted a power head, a model with a second motor specifically to… Read more

drive the vacuum head brushes as this was the only way to remove Ralph's hair from the thick pile carpets we have in out house.

After a LOT of research (and a very good saleswoman) I decided on the miele cat and dog S8. Although the miele only has a turbo head (runs off vacuum not a second motor) I placed trust in the excellent german made reputation of miele as opposed to the german engineered (designed by a german company but not made in germany) status of the dyson and other big names.

Long story short this is a seriously good vacuum. I do not give praise lightly.

thanks and goodluck.

Best vacuum, ever! – I have owned my Miele Cat and Dog for at least 15 years (probably longer) and the motor is still going strong. When we renovated our house about 13 years ago, people told us not to let the builders use it to clean up each day as the fine dust would kill it: we let them use it, and I'm still using it now. The suction is still powerful and it cleans… Read more

up well after my cat and dog (long haired). The standard nozzle/head is getting a bit worn so I have started using the spinning bush head which works well. In the past few years I have been using the generic vac bags and they seem to be ok. I highly recommend this vacuum - it's more expensive than some, but it's well made and has a long life.

Still working well after 9 years! – UPDATE - Still working well after 9 years. This beast will probably outlive us all. --- Old review A great little vacuum, It's still going strong after 3 years. It's not quiet, but that doesn't concern me. Bags are a bit expensive, however the bags are well made and hold in the dust, which as an asthmatic, I am grateful for. The suction on it is insanely powerful, and in general it does a great job. Couldn't be happier with it. Show details

Really Powerful | Really Quiet | Over-Priced Consumables – I've had this vacuum for a few years now and it has been great. It has plenty of power and the spinning brush pick up everything. It's more of a deeper whistle.

Bags are a little smaller than i would like and they are heavily over-priced for thick paper and a plastic tab.

Very disappointing – Expensive at $500 dollars and has failed miserably. It has done very little work. The lid keeps popping open as the fresh air filter tangs keep releasing. Now the cord winder will not lock and the telescopic button mechanism has failed. The bags are expensive. This product is made in Germany so its failure is a surprise. I would not buy Miele again.  Show details

Good suction but the smell is horrendous – Vacuum has great suction but when in use creates a bad smell that is horrible. Change the bag and filters but the smell is constantly there. Smells worse than anything the dog has ever smelt like. Still under warranty and they just send it back saying change the bag. Makes you NOT want to vacuum. Wouldn't recommend!  Show details

Body integrity poor – Suction is ok but the lid keeps popping open and the filter slips out of position & suddenly the vacuum cleaner screeches noisily. We've had it repaired once but 12 months later it is happening again. Have to tape the top of the vacuum cleaner into position so we can vacuum. & take the tape off so we can empty the bag. We paid $500 for this Vac and it's not working as well as it should. I'm not sure I'd buy Miele again after this experience.

Best vacuum ever!!! – Without doubt can not fault this vacuum. I had a terrible old vacuum, before I purchased this one over 3 years ago, which had practically no suction left. Good suction but machines body integrity is poor – Purchased a Miele thinking it would last for years, as it was rather expensive. Feel badly let down by the body integrity of this machine because we are very careful owners Site of plug in hose is now taped in place. Utensil door keeps popping open and the Manual is not clear to interpret. Would need to improve the product for us to buy another Miele vac.

Wow – Pros: 1. The SUCK! 2. Light weight wand 3. Quality of Construction Cons (being very picky) 1. Buttons accidentally pressed during use This is by far the best suction vacuum that I have seen. On hard floor, everything is spotless. Carpet is also very clean but not as impressive as the hard floors.

Excellent vacuum cleaner – Does a wonderful job on both carpet and tile flooring. It comes with several fittings in particular the turbo head (run by suction - not electricity) which does wonders at picking up my wife's long hairs. The suction power of the vacuum cleaner is marvellous. I prefer using bags and honestly do not need to change more than twice a year. Great for car too.  Show reply

best vacuum – The pet attachments were the reasons for buying this model and it did not let down! It sucks all cat hair ( which with 2 shedders is exactly what is needed ) easily from the carpets and rugs. The additional bags are a small price to pay when I've seen plenty of Dyson bagless faults. Plus the extra attachments come in handy with curtains and the quite version allows for easy late night litter spillage cleans.

I wish I had got it sooner – Let me start of with I own a Siberian Husky. I could probably finish there as well. It is a fantastic vacuum. difference is amazing. You can feel the suction power as well. I would highly recommend it if you have four legged friends. It is a bit pricey, but it may be worth considering how much time and effort you would save by getting this vacuum in stead of a cheap one that you would have to throw out sooner as well as one that won't pick up all that is on the carpet.

Miele S8320 – Just got this and its fantastic..Sounds like a jet as motor winds out and could suck a golf ball through a garden hose... Its works very well on our sea grass matting and we have a dog and a rabbit... Read the instructions and use the heads for what they are made.. I tried the Dyson animal in store as well and the suction was poor in comparison...They may not loose suction but they don't have that much to begin with..

floors and the couch. I love that it has a bag that collects all the hair and it's very simple to change the bag when needed. My previous bagless vacuum was difficult to open and the contents would sometimes go everywhere except the bin. However, the Miele's design is excellent and the bag collects all hair and debris.

The charcoal filter (around $23 to replace) seems to work well and the powerhead is great for use on our couch and in our car. I bought the machine at Harvey Norman for $514.00 and the sales person gave me a free brush head for the floors (I don't have carpet). The vacuum comes with an attachment for hardwood floors, but I really wanted the simple brush head as well. Overall this vacuum has made vacuuming a breeze and I am very glad I purchased it. If you have a pet and lots of pet hair, this vacuum will make life easier for picking it up!

This is the vacuum to buy! – My previous vacuum was a Panasonic MC4860. I have had it years and it has been reliable, it was a selection from Choice magazine more than 10 years or more ago. purchased was in the top 3. I checked the vacuum out through the web and I never found one bad review. Still I had to go to a store and check the comparison in model manufacture. On price and finished model the Miele stood out as the model to buy when compared to any Dyson. I took it home from Good Guys Osborne Park and used it on carpets and hard floor. Immediately I was impressed with the machine because of the quiet running compared with my Panasonic. The cleaning was much easier than usual and I had to make one pass over the floor area rather than the usual 2 or 3 or more. If people buy any vacuum without researching it then they may end up with a duffer. This machine is well worth the money and if you shop around I know that you will end up with a great machine that is worth the money you spend. May be all Miele machines are this good, I dont know as this is the first time I have come across the company. I doubt it will be the last purchase I make with them in mind.

performance, I wouldn't buy a Dyson solely on the basis that they are the ugliest design I have ever seen and so many crevices on the machine to hold dirt. Keeping it clean would be a nightmare. The Miele cord retraction works every time and it's a one-touch retraction too, unlike others that require you to hold the button down the whole time. It is easy to manouvre and the bags are very easy to change. I much prefer a vacuum cleaner with bags as I find the bag-less ones extremely messy to handle. My brother has also recently purchased one and is delighted with it. As long as Miele keep making to this standard I will never use anything else.
