Powerful, simple and easy to use – Used for both floorboards and carpet. Simple design, lightweight making it easy and convenient to use. Packs quite a bit of power and does not require frequent bag change. Variable power settings makes it suitable for varying surfaces or purposes and is relatively quiet. Bag changes are easy to perform as well Show details
Good quality vacuum cleaner – Does a good job, easy to use, good variety of heads and tools. Pause switch very useful, as are the + and - power buttons. Bag easy to change. Very satisfied with it. Show details
No regrets – I was in the market for a high end vacuum cleaner and was torn between Dyson and Miele. I've never owned a Dyson yet have had access to one over the past few years and was suitably impressed. As for Miele I had never had the opportunity to use one of their vacuums and was concerned that they were bagged and would have high ongoing costs because of… Read more
this. In the end the video comparisons containing practical tests between a Miele and Dyson tipped me in favor of a Miele as they were shown to pick up more dirt from the carpet, due to their superior carpet agitation, even though they commonly have less suction power (lower running costs). As for bags, we are constantly using our vacuum as we have young kids and animals. What I've found is the bags are well designed and make full use of the space available whilst not losing suction. They last for ages, we use around 2 - 3 bags a year. Also it's worth mentioning that the bag acts as an extra layer of filtration and makes disposing of waste so much easier than the process of a bagless cleaner. Also the model I bought has a number of different suction settings one being auto which adjusts the suction power depending on this resistance that is being offered. Very useful.
As superb as the reviews – We've spent thousands of dollars over the years on vacuum cleaners that are a chore to use, are noisy and break at regular intervals. On the basis of the bevy of 5 star reviews we went out and bought the Miele S8790 Hepa which was discounted by $300 by Harvey Norman on product runout. Quite simply this is the best vacuum cleaner we have… Read more
ever used.
You may need to spend more than you would on competitor models but each and every time you use this appliance you will be glad you spent that cash. Over the years you will save money as this vacuum is beautifully built and is simply a quality appliance.
Can't speak highly enough of this product and will in future purchase Miele every time.
Very Good! – People we know with Dysons tried to convince us Dyson was best but reading the reviews on here decided not to go down that track Bought A Miele from Harvey Norman Ipswich $600(advertised), plus threw in 2 boxes of bags, other H.N's in Brisbane were $679 and wouldn't budge on the price. H.N Loganholme had a woman from Bosch demonstrate a Bosch,… Read more
the demo she did was hilarious, noisiest vacuum ever and you have 2bend over to change the suction!
Miele controls in the handle are great!(strange its not on all their range?)but would of liked the light incorporated in it like the other Miele plus the triple extension handle as in SQ would be good for reaching cobwebs on the stairs. Miele don't seemed to have put the best of all in one package.
Great suction and well pleased with the results on carpets and wooden floors.
The length of the cord I find is too short, I have to use an extension cord and it does tip over in tight spots(doorways)
Partner gives it 5 stars best ever but I lose it a star on length of the cord
Machine great but with a wooden floor issue so beware – Yesterday I purchased this product and did want to buy the pet vacuum however I was advised by the sales person that with the normal dual head, if I have wooden floors, it will scratch and it was recommended that I purchase an additional head ($90) for wooden floors. I was shocked to say the least and thought it was a sales pitch but purchased… Read more
this machine that had the head included. When I got home, I tried both heads and found that yes, the harder brushes on the hard floor head did indeed scratch my jarrah floorboards. This is an extremely bad decision by Miele to do this, just fix the problem on the dual head and although I do own a number of Miele products, I will not recommend the lesser machines to anyone with wooden floors. I paid nearly $700 for this machine and even the pet machine for $550 should include the proper tools to vacuum. Very poor decision making Miele and something you should not be proud of as everything else with the machine was great.
Even better than my other two! – I've become a self confessed Miele addict and just love their appliances. I recently bought an S8790. The saphire paint is striking and automobile quality. The suspension castor wheels are so silent and absorb every bump and threshold. I previous had a cat and dog compact, which was stolen, and have the Miele Hybrid, also amazing. This S8790 is… Read more
so quiet and the auto setting is perfect. It clean carpet to bare flopped and adjusts the power automatically. The pickup power is better than the cat and dog. The handy controls on the wand is easy to use and saves bending over to change the settings. The rubber strip all around protects furniture and walls, as does the excellent suspension wheels.
Another triumph from Miele but was disappointed for the price it didn't come with a power head. At almost $1k you'd think it would and Miele don't seem to recognise their customers, who formidable, buy new machines every few years as a hobby. No invites to product launches etcetera. Having 7 Miele appliances, you'd think they would keep in contact with their loyal customers and reward then for being so loyal.
Other than that slight complaint, I couldn't ever not recommend this vacuum. Just the quality, build, the quietness, and the functionality is amazing. I will continue to buy more and more. I'm dying to try the new W1 washer and T1 dryer. Maybe Miele will start to recognise their loyal customers, of which I became a convert in three short years, and would have no issue using all Miele appliances for the rest of my life.
A total recommend A++++++++
Everything the reviews say – Wonderful. After battling through with a Wertheimer, Vax and my Aunts terrible vacuum cleaner we sucked it up, spent the money and then spent hours oohing and ahhhing at the results. The s8790 is everything the reviews say. We got it from Harvey Norman for $666 with $10 boxes of bags. Recommend first use on carpet use regular head then run turbo… Read more
over it to get that raised pile new carpet feeling. changing the heads is click easy. Also recommend low-med setting, this is one powerful vac. It's true, the 1200w motor is better tech in this vacuum than the 2000w machines. In this day and age, any electricity saving is valued. Although I suspect I will be vacuuming a lot more now so will probably even out.
Far exceeded expectations – After owning a Wertheim 5035 (with the powerhead) for a number of years, we decided to purchase another vaccuum, as my wife wasn't happy with the Wertheim. We were going to get a Dyson, but decided to take a chance on the S8790, due to the overwhelmingly positive feedback we read about it. After owning the Miele for a few months, I am extremely… Read more
happy with our decision and purchase. The S8790 has far exceeded expectations. It's very quiet for a vaccuum, the quality is top notch. The ability to adjust suction power on the fly, or to let the machine adjust the suction power depending on floor surface are handy features for us, as we've got both carpet and lino in the home. The suction on the top setting is very effective, much more so that the old Wertheim was.
We were concerned about buying another bagged machine, but these bags take a long time to fill. Only just recently changed the first bag, but we could of left it longer as it was only half full.
Overall, I recommend the Miele S8790. It's a quality German-made product, that I expect will last us a long time.
It SUCKS big time!! – What a great vacuum cleaner. I wouldn't have considered Miele if it wasn't of the reviews here. Wanted to replace our 5yr old bagless Sanyo which really doesn't do a good job and is a mess to clean dust container and hepa filter. My wife also was sold on a Dyson. Any Dyson really, they must have really good marketing to get into people's mind as… Read more
the best. Went to the good guys Nunawading, nice young man there showed us all Mieles and Dysons. When we tried the best Dyson, it wasn't even picking up fine dust on the carpet that he put there. The Miele S8790 sucking power, even at only 1200W due to European restriction, was very impressive. And it's all metal tubes, conventional but solid body and fittings. The Dyson looks very technologically advanced and as a mechanical engineer this is very attractive to me, but looking at it closely it felt just plasticly. The s8790 is about the same price, comes with all possible adapters, not that necessary controls on the handle but a nice to have. I like also that it has been reduced in power by half but still suck better than the others.
Bet you'll have a similar experience!
My Wife Wanted a New Vacuum Cleaner?!?!?! – My wife cracked the sh%# with the old vacuum cleaner the other day, unknown to me at the time jumped online after 15 mins said "HN have interest free again we need a new vacuum cleaner im going down there who's coming lol" my son and I said ok lets go btw she has always wanted a Dyson, so we all jumped into the car and made our way down to HN, … Read more

Just works, easy to use, light – Have had this a month now after deciding to go back to a bagged cleaner due to allergies (emptying the bagless vac's can be messy) The Miele is fantastic, easily the best Vacuum I have ever owned. It just works. I initially thought the remote on the handle might be a little gimmicky, however its simply brilliant - so easy to turn the machine… Read more
off quickly if you need to, and very easy to change suction settings across different floor surfaces.. although I also find the Auto setting works really well between carpet and tiles. The ergonomic handle is also comfortable to hold, and the adjustable telescopic tube is long enough for taller people to use (it's the longest I have seen on anything I have owned)
Even on full suction, the Miele is easy to push/pull across the carpet thanks to the roller wheels on the floor head, and also thanks to the machines cushioned wheels and low profile - I find that this unit does not get stuck going around furniture, or corners as others I have owned did.
The other thing that actually works well is the cord retractor - its one touch, and actually get's the cord in in one go, even if its been a little tangled.
All in all, I highly rate the Miele and would highly recommend to anyone looking for a new machine
Not at all disappointed not over excited as I've had Miele before – Looked a Dyson because of all the publicity but decided to stick with Miele as it is a well evolved conventional design concept that in the case of miele is well engineered with good quality and it works very well. I chose this model because it came with the best hepa filter as we live on a busy street and have a bit of a fine dust problem. It… Read more
also has two power brushes which really work well for getting dog hair off the carpet and the smaller one is a god send for the car as it has previously been far too difficult to remove from my cars interior. This model also has an indicator to tell when the hepa filter needs to be replaced which is important for me. I bought it through the online store where they threw in some extras including a miniature hose and brush kit which is great for cleaning things like the front of a stereo or parts of the dashboard of my car.
Our previous miele must be over twenty years old and is still very powerful but the swivel joint that goes into the body has worn out and sprays dust out when the bags are near full and other parts are broken by a heavy handed family member. I didn't consider repairing it as 20 years service is more than good enough for me and the new models have better features.

Love this vacuum! – So happy that we bought this vacuum. Researched for months, looked at all the online reviews, tried them all in the shops, asked all my friends. Took so long to decide, because everybody told me to buy a dyson. But Choice magazine really preferred Miele. Anyway, very glad we went with the Miele. A few months later and we still love it. quiet, powerful, takes ages to fill the bag. We have 3 girls with long hair in the house, and it is great at picking all that hair up. It works well on our cork, wood floors and the carpet.
I love that it has three slots where you can rest the head if you need to take a break. I love the controls in the handle, and the ability to really quickly get more or less power with the touch of a button. I love that it cleans so thoroughly. Did I mention how quiet it is? I didn't realise that I used to brace myself for the noise every time i vacuumed with our previous Vacuum. Would definitely recommend a Miele, and this one in particular.
Don't even think of anything else !! – I purchased the S8790 (Dark Electric Blue is the colour for this model) and was a little hesitant as my last vacuum was an upright Amway which I had for 20+ years and was brilliant but this certainly was a pleasant surprise absolutely love it and heaps of extra attachments aside of those in fitted in the case on the actual machine, bags hold a… Read more
lot and are not expensive to buy (4 In a Box) which really should last a fair while. Fill Indicator is great only one the indicator shows the machine to be full when vacuuming but you only need to unhook the stainless steel vacuum rod from the control on the handle and it will show the fill level accurately. Great for house and Car. In particular the turbo brushes, vacuum bags last for ages.
Great, powerful and quiet Vacuum! – This vacuum is incredible. It is extremely powerful with great suction. Great for picking up pet hair. This vacuum is so quiet in operation. It is also light weight and is easy on your back. I love the controls on the handle so you can control the suction without having to bend down. The S 8790 comes with the power head which is great for sucking… Read more
up dog hair. All in all, I am very pleased with this purchase. This is much better than the hoover we previously owned. Powerful suction, controls on the handle to change power, light weight, extremely quiet operation. None
Really great – I upgraded to an S 8790 after many years using a mid-range nilfisk. I read many reviews online and researched far and wide before settling on this model. After using it for the first time today I am impressed with how effective it was at cleaning up my (ancient) carpets. The controls on the handle/wand make it really easy to use/vary the power, as… Read more

Exceptional machine - worth every cent – I've been a Miele fan since I was knee high to a grasshopper. Admittedly, I do have what borders on an appliance fetish, but this was kindled in the efficient, effective, elegantly and spotlessly clean surrounds of a house decked out with Miele kit. I've owned a number of Miele appliances over the years, and have been deeply satisfied with each of… Read more
them (and not simply because of the range of attachments they offer ;-)
My latest acquisition is the Exceptional s8790 Vacuum. It is my 3rd Miele vac, after a 1981 model inherited from my Grandmother, which was still working perfectly when replaced in 2007 with an s5 series model. The s5 was reluctantly handed over to my ex in an act of ill-advised self sacrifice, when attending to the gory task of dividing the children...
This s8790 blows all previous (in themselves exceptional) Miele vacs away in terms of performance, quietness, build quality and lightness. It's quality is so far beyond the (not inexpensive) Hoover Core I had regrettably purchased post separation from the s5 (clearly whilst on a grief-induced drug binge which impaired my brain function and encouraged risk taking behaviour), that in comparison (the Hoover) is a piece of under-designed plasticky bagless dreck, and shouldn't be recognised as belonging to the same phylum as the s8790, in an appliance kingdom where Miele is the undisputed king.
If you need a new Vac, do yourself a favour and invest in a Miele. Dyson trade on gimmicks and admittedly great marketing. Hoover trade on the memory of what may have once been good machines, but now are unmitigated doo-doo. And Electrolux (in the Aussie market) are brand licensees trading on the name of a product no longer available to us. Miele delivers quality - anything else is a compromise. "Eco line" Economy - Powerful suction delivered by 1/2 the power consumption (1200W) of most of its peers. Attachments galore. Remote controls on handle. Lightest Vac I've ever owned. Best cleaning I've ever had - "magically" eliminated 2 years of cat hair the previous Vac claimed wasn't there! Uses bags, so not as environmentally friendly as some competitors. But hey! It uses half the power and probably will last 3 times as long, so it makes up for this in spades.
Great machine! – We were looking to replace our 10 year old Wertheim vacuum cleaner that had a motorised power head. Finding the vacuum cleaners with a motorised power head we liked to be over $1200 we decided to look at what else Miele had on offer. While not originally thrilled with the idea of the air driven turbo brush, it seems to be just as good as our… Read more
previous vacuum cleaner (we've had it for a month). The mini turbo brush (included) is fantastic for cleaning the car. The machine is very quiet, holds a good volume in each bag and is quite lightweight. Replacement costs for the parts that could break, e.g. the turbo head or the handle with controls on it, don't seem to be excessive. The salesman said that Miele vacuum cleaners tend to last for 12 to 15 years. low noise, lightweight and easy to wheel, mini turbo brush
A vacuum cleaner that actually works – I purcahased this vacuum cleaner in September to replace my Dyson barrel and I am absolutely wrapped at the performance of this machine. The suction is amazing even when the bag is full. It is quiet and the wand has on / off and variable suction controls right at your finger tips which makes things easy to control. that you have to buy bags as it is well worth the small extra expense for the performance and quality you are buying. Don't let the sales people try to sell you something else that they are probably getting paid a higher commission to sell. After buying this machine I would not even think about purchasing another brand of vacuum cleaner and if you can afford it purchase this premium model as it comes with a turbo brush, multi floor brush, mini turbo brush and hard floor tool which has castlelated bristles that allows it to actually suck up the dust off hards floors and not just spread it around like other vacuum cleaners. All in all I am very happy with this machine. Suction, build quality, quiet operation, wand controls and all the attachments supplied Could manouver a bit better
Best Vacuum Cleaner Ever! – We purchased a Miele s8790 Premium Total Care Vacuum Cleaner and could not be more pleased with it! It is so easy to operate and manoeuvre. Totally Pleased – We have bought the Miele S8790 Premium Total Care Vacuum Cleaner. We are more than impressed with it. We have 5 children and 2 dogs, a lot of mess. in the dust mess, no hassle to more cleaning another mess. We have had it for about a month now and we haven't had to change the bags. Excellent. We really like it. It has a head for carpet and a head for tiles plus more! It's quiet and it's very powerful. Absolutely nothing I can pick at it for.
Miele S8790 - excellent, no complaints – Having been looking to make the step up into a quality vacuum cleaner from a cheap and nasty bagless model, I finally settled on the Miele S8790 which is the second from top of the line model. I got it for a good price and I'm very happy with it. The downside of bags is ongoing cost, but with bagless you still need to replace the filters… Read more
regularly. The upside is not having to dig out clumps of dirt and hair with your hands and inhale dust emptying a bagless compartment ever again (it's never as easy and convenient as it looks in TV ads) and the bags clearly hold more than most bagless compartments, so you're doing it less often. Miele don't seem to have the habit of new bags for each new model, so I'm confident of still being able to obtain bags in many years to come which is reassuring. The turbo brush makes light work of hair (I don't have pets but humans shed too, especially the long haired female variety!) and it is relatively easy to cut the hair from the rollers after it's accumulated. There's also a mini roller to make light work of hair from couches, beds and the like. I was a bit sceptical as it is air powered rather than motorised but it works great and one less expensive component I need to worry about breaking down. The attachments have a handy storage compartment and the vacuum cleaner looks like a vacuum cleaner (with a hint of style) rather than something pretending to be from the space age (hint hint Dyson). Controls on the handle are a luxury for me but are probably standard for most non-budget models these days. It's also quiet (you could quite comfortably vacuum at night and neighbours would be unaware) and energy efficient without sacrificing power and the air that comes out is quite cool, so I'm not as afraid of a burned out motor any time soon. Great suction, easily variable speed. Quiet and energy efficient. Air powered turbo head works well. Aesthetically pleasing and good variety of attachments. For the price 2 years warranty seems a bit miserly. The build quality is high so I hope it will long outlast that. Replacement bags aren't pricey but aren't cheap either, but at least includes replacement filters too. The manual warns of possible damage to leaving it in "standby" mode for long periods, which is a bit of a concern as it would be relatively easy to do this by accident. It should auto-off after 20 minutes of inactivity in this case...
Best Vacuum ever invested in for my health – I did my research and then instore demonstrations on Dyson D29 and Miele S8790, hands down Miele S8790 did it for me, so I purchased it due to multiple functionality, practicality, quality control (rigorous testing impressive) and the guy who did the demo knew his stuff.
