Construction supervisor was always helpful and professional. Problems were sorted quickly and nothing was too difficult. Admin process was stressful so far as communication and changes to the tender eg Tiles in bathroom were presented to us at the sub contractor as inclusions however this turned out not to be the case which is fine. The issue was… Read more
the increased cost was simply passed onto us to sign off on when what should have happened is an email or call to say that there was a discrepancy and how would you like to proceed. Options would have been either pay for the additional tiles or go with the cheaper finish. That way we could have decided one way or the other instead, the decision was just made for us as we were simply obliged to pay. Previous construction supervisor damaged our driveway, said nothing about it until we discovered it and no apologies or attempt to tidy the damage let alone repair it. Overall house looks very good and very good finishes. Clean up after construction was very thorough.
Jamie-Lee was wonderful in giving advice and support that was common sense, and practical with our selections. Her guidance and reassurance was very much appreciated in selection colour schemes that suited what we were discussing. It is definitely a great process and not as overwhelming as I thought it would be. Show details · 1

Could not of asked to build our first home with a better company. High levels of communication from the get go. From the initial representative to Tahlia the Construction Administrator to Aiden the Foreman. We would definitely use Montgomery home if we build another house. Also to mention a quick 26 weeks build from the slab down to the handover. Show details · 1

We have just achieved handover with our beautiful Montgomery Home - Carolina 354. From start to finish, every step of the way was positive. Montgomery Homes Knockdown Rebuild Review We recently completed our warranty work with Montgomery Homes and felt this was an appropriate time to reflect on and share our experience with our knockdown rebuild. en-suite. As our block is sloped, Montgomery was the only volume builder we found offering a split-level design over three levels. They use a drop edge beam system—a concrete slab on two levels connected by a concrete wall—which, in my opinion, results in a sturdier and more durable home.
Pre-Construction We first visited the Montgomery office in May 2021 and paid our deposit in July to begin the process. The tender, selections, and DA phase took approximately 8.5 months. We encountered some challenges during this stage, particularly when our Sales Executive left midway through. However, the General Manager stepped in and resolved the situation to our satisfaction.
Despite this being a difficult time in the industry—due to COVID lockdowns and supply chain pressures—we found the staff we dealt with to be helpful and professional. We appreciated the flexibility offered during design: we were able to make substantial customisations at a reasonable cost.
The selections process was smooth overall, although we found Thynk (Montgomery’s then supplier) to be quite expensive. I believe Montgomery no longer partners with them.
Construction We signed the building contract in May 2022 with a 10 month build time. A minor complication arose when our lender wouldn’t allow us to demolish the existing home until after the contract was signed. Once signed, we had a limited timeframe to deliver a cleared site or face penalties. Thankfully, we managed this without issue.
Construction commenced during the heavy La Niña rains of 2022, which caused some delays. The build was completed in December 2023. Prolonged construction timelines were largely due to industry-wide delays in securing trades, driven by the post-COVID building boom.
Our Site Manager, Shane Antilla, was exceptional—professional, communicative, and patient with our many queries. The finished home appears to be built to a high standard, with excellent attention to detail.
Handover To manage costs, we opted to complete some work post-handover, including flooring, carpet installation, and additional electrical fit-out. As Christmas approached, Montgomery worked hard to get us into our new home on time. We agreed to complete a few remaining tasks after handover, which was a huge help and much appreciated.
Warranty There were a few post-handover issues, most of which were addressed promptly. Montgomery’s warranty team had a solid process in place, and the handyman, Craig, was outstanding—capable, efficient, and able to fix almost anything. However, a couple of trades were slow to respond, which extended the warranty period to just over a year.
Conclusion We’re absolutely delighted with our new home and feel we received excellent value for money. The flexibility we were given during the design phase helped us achieve a home that strikes the perfect balance between custom and spec-built.
If we had one suggestion, it would be for Montgomery to consider a different appliance supplier. We’ve been underwhelmed by the ILVE appliances, which don’t seem to match the overall quality of the build.
We would happily build with Montgomery again and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend them to others. A big thank you to the Montgomery team for building our dream home.
WARNING.....3 Years to build a home with Montgomery homes. Please make sure you if you are in NSW you are not a pushover to this company. After taking 15-16 months to complete the pre- construction part of their build programme (see other review for issues there) we have just been told we will have to wait ANOTHER 12 months (weather permitting or… Read more
could be longer) for the building to be completed as per contract- the Contract states that from beginning of build it will take 54 weeks. It doesn't however say their company and insufficient processes, poor customer service, inability to communicate, lack of client respect, constantly changing their minds costing us money with ZERO recourse or financial compensation to the homeowner, will take however long they want, it never said in there we are going to string this out. They took 15 months just to get us to a signed contract. When initially we were told by their sales staff J*** and some bird L***- out at Vineyard, the complete process from first tender to end of build will take 12-15 months. And every time A*** (the new client liaison manager) came and apologised for their incompetencies or change of minds or delays we were told not long now- and then without warning they hand it over to the build team who said- 'yeh, it's a shame you had such a bad time with pre-construction but that's not our problem' NOT YOUR PROBLEM!!!!!!!!! it's not our problem you are costing us but at least now we hold the strings- no money for no job!. Crap company Crap attitude Crap everything. Even their suppliers said this was standard of them... wish we knew this before we signed.
Building a home is a big decision. I was really nervous after I signed and hoped I made the right decision. But now I’m almost at the end of the build and I’m glad I chose Montgomery. away. I was assigned supervisor Tim Lees and I always felt like he genuinely cared about the build and was doing everything to bring it along without sacrificing quality. I’m a month out from handover and love my new home. Handover can’t come quick enough! Thanks Tim! I also want to acknowledge Dean Allison. He was there at the start of the journey when I signed up, but he was always there to help and support me at any stage. It’s not very often you come across blokes who are men of their word these days, but Dean definitely is. It was reassuring to know that Dean had my back throughout the build. Would I build with Montgomery again? Absolutely.

We recently had our first meeting with Catherine from Montgomery Homes, and it was a great experience. She was friendly, professional, and took the time to explain everything clearly. Even though we’ve just started the process, Catherine made us feel comfortable and confident moving forward. Looking forward to working with her on our build Show details · 1

Unprofessional, incapable of resolving issues and concerns, unable to meet budget constraints (added $150K to budget limit), unwilling to accept fault. Not worth your time considering building with them. Large staff turnover meaning our project has been handed from staff member to new staff member and so on. Show details

Maybe look around before you sign! – Many reviews as our build has not progressed … we signed our initial tender (we told them our budget) back in November 2023- February 2025 and we are still waiting for our final tender!!! We signed back then unknowingly being tricked into a false price (as the sales people who no longer work there as they have been let go as i'm pretty sure this… Read more
is illegal, not that anything was ever said to us) were leaving massive spend off the tender so the price looked great- for us it was Storm Water provisions and other big ticket items, but found out after cooling off when they sent us a revised tender for 'a lot' more, and then when we needed an explanation...ZERO contact with anyone for 3 months. We were then handed to their Newcastle office for our client liason officer.. NEWCASTLE!!! 2.5 hours away from us?!? Whose great idea was that? Again- Zero communication. Then the next 6 months was constant chasing and emails and asking for explanations as to why it was taking so long and same 'oh sorry we forgot' 'sorry I missed that' 'won't be long now' we were initially told this would be a 9-12 month COMPLETE process to end of build. Council took 5 months- but then their acoustics report man, recommended to us, can up with a $140,000 quote for commercial grade 10.38mm thick windows. and to find out another month later 'he made a mistake and nothing extra is needed' was a complete joke. So we are 15 months along- paying rent as we sold our place back in November 2023 and we are only more in debt then we started off. And have zero to show for it. So I would say just be very careful who you sign with as I 100% regret ever signing with Montgomery Homes. And this may be just a one-off bad experience but for an $800,000.00 price tag ($200,000 over the budget we quoted)... it's disgusting. And now we have just found our gas outlet on the rear verandah disappeared from the last and final plans …. I emailed the consultant and the entire team of pre-construction at MH and after 5 days NOTHING!!!! The consultant emailed that she tried to contact MH but no response ….. and here we are again!!!!!!! Nothing from A### their fantastic customer consultant

Tim is approachable and easy to deal with. He has an eye for detail, which is reflected in the quality of the trades and their workmanship. And best of all, he gets back to us when we have a question.

We are very happy with the construction side of things, particularly with building supervisor Tim Lees - he was very professional, prompt, answered all our questions and put us at ease. It was my first time having a new home built and overall I love my home and it is my personal sanctuary however I would not be so nice or so understanding and patient if I ever built again and unlikely I would use Montgomery. the upgrades I made so I didn’t get nor did I expect anything for free. However unfortunately, the experience with warranty issues was not as positive. My gold tapware faded and became patchy, and while it was replaced after some follow-up with the warranty team, the process was less than satisfactory. The plumber who was assigned to the task seemed indifferent and informed me that some of the tapware would not be replaced due to access issues behind the tiling, and others were on backorder. Unfortunately, the replacements were not provided within the warranty period. The items that were replaced continued to fade, and by the time they were fixed, the warranty had expired. The garbage bin frame rusted, and while Montgomery replaced it, the same rusting issue reoccurred. Additionally, the outside vents on the eastern side of the build fell off just weeks after the warranty period had ended. When I reached out, I was provided with the contact details of a handyman. Similarly, the tiles in two of my showers cracked, and though I contacted the team just outside the warranty period, I was assured that there would be no waterproofing issues, and again, referred to a handyman.
The carpet in the parent retreat began unraveling, and although Montgomery sent a carpet layer to trim and tuck the loose loops, the issue persisted. Furthermore, the carpet has shown significant staining from general wear and tear, giving it the appearance of being laid decades ago, rather than just four years ago. While the home itself is lovely, the quality of some products has been disappointing and has certainly detracted from the overall build Additionally, the back steps have begun to crack. I was informed that this was simply normal weathering and assured that the stairs were still safe. However, despite repeated requests, no one ever came out to inspect the issue in person. Instead, I was repeatedly asked to provide pictures. Not once did a representative visit to assess all of the warranty concerns and address them comprehensively. The ongoing delays and lack of on-site visits have led me to feel that the communication strategy may be designed to either tire customers into giving up or wait until the warranty period expires.

The build itself was well managed and the house built well, thanks Tim. All the issue in the build were addressed in the last week as we found them. slabs, driveway. Every time a change was made to the design they seem to rewrite the whole plan, so things need to be watched so doors, etc don't go missing. So it's just a house on a block of land. That's it. Thousands more needs to be spent and at least another four weeks of work on the owners part to get things organised. On our site, we lost days to wet weather, due to slippery conditions. The roof and walls were up. So if the driveway was there, they wouldn't have lost those days.
