The claim was simple and very quick through "Gap Only". Our policy covered us as stated, and we were very grateful that we could get the surgery and support that we needed. Thank you. Show details · 1
I switched to Petinsurance.com.au about 2 years ago and can't fault the coverage nor claim process for my dog. My dog is on better insurance than I am and the claim process for him is better too! :) Even if there are additional questions that the claims team require, there is a quick phone call to confirm details or request any further… Read more · 1

The go gap claim process was all organised by my veterinarian team & made the whole process very easy as I didn’t have to do anything. Love it Show details · 1
I have been so thrilled with how Petinsurance.com.au have looked after my Frenchie Bob. They covered Bob's BOAS surgery, which then resulted in quite a lot of complications and extended stay in ICU. This was extremely stressful for me, especially as cost mounted. However my policy has now covered 80% of these costs - saving me 10s of thousands of… Read more · 1
dollars. I am so happy with them that I am going to add my other dog to the policy. I truly recommend these guys.
I have had both of my Chihuahua's insured with PetInsurance.com.au since I received them. I have made claims for my Eldest dog (5 years old) for both an undetermined ED visit and surgery for Elbow dysplasia, which involved x-rays and CT scans under anaesthesia. The claims were settled online and with the Vet Clinic doing all the work and me just… Read more · 1
paying the gap. There were no issues or problems and everything worked very smoothly. More recently, my younger dog (3 years) has had major surgery for a Grade 4 MPL and is scheduled to have further surgery for a Grade 3 MPL as well. There was also a need for considerable scans to be taken as well, also under anaesthesia. The insurance claim was again handled by the Vet Clinic and I just paid the gap, which was much less than I thought it would be. There have been no issues at all with the insurance to date and everything has worked extremely well.
Our 10mth Border Terrier decided to swallow an entire (raw) chicken wing with only minimal chewing beforehand. It lodged momentarily in her throat before she was able to swallow it. This was enough to both frighten and hurt her to the extent she was shaking and wanting to hide, making me think there might still be an obstruction And, of course,… Read more
this happened out of our Vets normal clinic hours. I called the Vet who met us at the clinic where X-Rays were performed. There was the chicken wing, in it's entirety, lodged in her belly. A big relief to all. Our Vet utilises the "gap only" system which meant my out-of-pocket costs were minimal, and the account was immediately settled. Considering the cost of an emergency consult plus the X-Rays, and also a drug to help settle her digestive system, I was dreading the bill. I was very thankful to have organised her insurance only a couple of weeks prior to this happening. Our yearly premium was almost paid for entirely from the rebate we received! Thank you for a great product!
Have used insurance twice recently for 2 surgeries. Used Gaponly and it was brilliant. All done and dusted within 10 minutes. Show details · 1
I have nothing but sincere thanks for this company at a very stressful time. My not even 2 year old dog without doubt would be dead as I would never have been able to afford his emergency care. I can’t recommend them highly enough. If you are wavering about getting insurance for your pet imagine a bill of close to $20000 and how you will pay it. He has pretty much made a complete recovery and I’m incredibly thankful. Show details · 1
After an emergency visit to VECA in Campbelltown, so happy with the quick and easy service. The Vet submitted the claim on my behalf and it was all settled within 24-48hrs. Thank you! Show details · 1

The claims process is straightforward, and the turnaround time is impressively quick. I’m consistently surprised by how much we get back. Our most recent claim covered the majority of the vet bill. Show details · 1
I’ve been insured with them for the past 3–4 years and barely needed to claim. This year was different. My puppy, Dottie, was diagnosed with cancer. It was overwhelming and scary. In the middle of all of that, the last thing you want is stress around money or claims. They made it easy. Claims have been processed quickly. Gap-only claims are simple… Read more · 1
and seamless. No back and forth. No added pressure. That peace of mind matters more than anything when your focus is on your pet. Yes, premiums go up over time. But when something serious happens, you see exactly why you have it. I’m genuinely grateful for the support during a really tough time.
My dog has had ongoing skin allergy appointments and our claims have always been dealt with swiftly. The new gap free service is an added bonus as we recently had a large vet bill and only had to pay the gap at the time of payment. I would highly recommend pet insurance.com.au. Show details · 1

Negative reviews
My dog’s policy premium was increased by 25.36% this year with no meaningful explanation tied to my actual policy. I was given a long, generic justification about “vet cost inflation,” “age/breed data,” and “risk factors,” but nothing specific to my claim-light history or any change in cover. When I escalated through IDR, the “resolution” was a… Read more
two-month premium waiver — appreciated, but it doesn’t fix the underlying issue of transparency or fairness. I also struggled to get written confirmation that premiums wouldn’t be deducted and that cover would remain active while the complaint was under review. For a brand administered by PetSure and issued by Hollard, I expected clearer communication and a policy-specific explanation, not boilerplate.
I’ll happily stay if I get an evidence-based breakdown for this rise and a proper review of the renewal price. Otherwise, I’ll be moving my pet cover.
I have had the insurance for about 3 years, tried to claim a simple checkup due to some issues my dog was having unexpectedly, sent in invoice and a clear discription of why, when the vet etc. then was emailed days later requesting vet notes and so on, they have the number etc, I'm not doing there job for them, the invoice alone said everything… Read more
what went on. So long story short after 3 years of paying monthly premiums which aren't that cheap mind you, they lost a customer over a $100 invoice. You are definately better off just sticking $100 a month away as a just in case find instead of jumping through there hoops, in saying that even though I'm not happy with the service they were the better pet insurance around, so it really does not say a lot lol.
Just got an assessment back from these scammers. They asked all sorts of follow-up questions (Vets notes, then full history of every visit to the Vet for the entire life of my dog) looking for ways to get out of paying a basic claim. Eventually they broke the claim up into 3 separate claims so that the excess meant there was no payout. Show details

Sophie developed diabetes in 2025. Sophie has been insured with Petinsurance from early 2024. Petinsurance have been very responsive and have processed the claims speedily. The process has been seamless and the refunds were paid within a couple of days. Where the Gap scheme was used it took about 10 minutes to process which is an excellent turn around time. My 2 dogs have been with pet insurance for 5yrs & 2.5yrs. The gap only payment is easy. As is the online claim section on the app. My 2.5yr old has epilepsy, I am relieved to have the backing of pet insurance for him. Highly recommend pet insurance. Show details · 1
I have had to make three claims already for my 3 year old Weimaraner. One for a snake bite, one for mast cell tumour removal and one for an emergency trip to the vet for some respiratory issues. Every time my claim has been paid out quickly and with no fuss. Would recommend. Show details · 1
We joined PetInsurance.com.au to cover our first family pet a year ago, and it’s been a great experience. I am very happy with the service I receive from Pet Insurance. My French Bulldog has had several issues and Pet Insurance has paid 80% of every bill. I only ever pay the gap at my Vet so I am not out of pocket for large bills. It only ever takes about 10 mins for approval to come through even during the Vet evening surgery hours. able to provide a quote for a procedure ahead of time I am able to get pre approval via email which takes about 24-48 hours. This allows me to budget ahead for my dogs medical issues. I highly recommend Pet Insurance.

Positive experience. Insurance for pets often has quite negative reviews, however no such problems with this company. I chose 'Gap only' and the claim went through very smoothly. Show details
We’re really good in processing claims promptly and keeping us informed. Claim process was easy and submitted by vet and paid. We only had to pay the”gap” which they kept us informed of as did the vet. Would most certainly recommend them. Really good value. Show details · 1

Excellent service and no questions asked on claims I have had nothing but a smooth and easy experience using Petinsurnce.com.au. Love their online 24 vet assistance with follow up the next day. Today Gil at customer service was most helpful and had my intentions in mind by offering me a great saving on my annual premium. Highly recommend. Show details · 1
Read the fine print. This policy doesnt cover much. Their "pre-existing" condition clause is garbage and used to deny almost everything a dog would seek treatment for in the ordinary course of their life. For example, our dog has long ear hair and gets an ear infection occasionally. Because she was treated for this previously, it is considered a… Read more
"pre-existing" condition and all subsequent occurrences will not be covered. Makes us wonder if the next time our dog ingests something they shouldnt (this happened once before and was the reason for us to get this coverage for her) if that would be deemed another "pre-existing" condition and justify the denial of coverage.
Not impressed. I've been a long time customer and always get texts for when my premium is due, so I log into the portal and pay manually. Two months ago texts randomly stopped and I received no emails! So for two months I was late paying for the first time ever due to no notifications that payments were due. I ring up petinsurance.com.au and… Read more
get overseas (which I've never had before), I then constantly get put on hold, I'm told someone else's information and then told to ignore that information as it was the wrong profile up! I then get told you no longer do text messages saying payments are due.
Absolute waste of half an hour on the phone!!! If the system works for customers why would you change it and not have an option to still receive notifications?!
I'll be ringing around tomorrow other pet insurances to see my options.
***Update***
Given two months free for the stuff up but straight away getting no notifications, only a final notice.
I ended up hanging up due to a rep not listening and becoming very angry in his tone. He isn't aware of any updates on the server (as previously told to me) and it must be my fault! Not there system.
If it was my fault my details wouldn't be correct and I wouldn't be getting a final NOTICE.
This is the final straw. I'll not be paying my premium. I'll be ringing around next week to find a better pet insurer that doesn't dismiss customers.
I wish there were a 0-star rating to give. They are the worst insurance company ever for quickly rejecting claims, but they take 30 days to review again and find they were wrong. They create the worst conditions, and you have to be careful reading their terms, as you will get nothing if your pet gets an infection. Show details
Only time they actually paid out they later admitted was an accident and they've subsequently amended the policy to make sure that won't happen again. Every renewal the eligible claims get narrower and narrower to the point that I'm pretty sure he's now only covered for a short list of very specific injuries or an incredibly short list of illnesses.
