I recommend Petsy. No sub limits . I chose $25,000 cover with $150pa excess and all vet consults covered with I especially like. Pleasant Australian call centre. I have made several claims for my dog Darcy, which were approved quickly - 2 an hour after I made the claim. Show details
They are super efficient and update you throughout the process, good customer service. Another thing that I find helpful is that they contact the vent directly, without me having to ask for the vet notes and send it to the insurer. Show details
Have had nothing but amazing service and support for my pup! Highly recommend Petsy for your fur babies. The team are always lovely to communicate with and claims are assessed quickly. Show details
I’ve always been very satisfied with Petsy, payments come through pretty quick and email communication has been good as well. Show details
When we brought our puppy home, I had no experience with pets, but had started researching and was kind of ready. I had booked a vet visit the very next day. During that first visit, the vet asked if I had thought about insurance. He warned that if a puppy ever got a paralysis tick, the treatment could cost over $20,000, and without good… Read more
insurance, it could be devastating. I told him I had decided on Petsy, but he wasn’t familiar with them and suggested some of the bigger, more well-known companies. I went home, did more research, compared policies, and checked differences. I found those other insurers had sub-limits and lots of fine print, while Petsy was clear, straightforward, and covered what mattered. So I stuck with my choice. Less than four months later, the vet’s warning came true – our puppy suffered tick paralysis, and we went through absolute hell. At that moment, all we cared about was her coming back healthy. I hadn’t even thought about the insurance claim, the Vet had put through the claims automatically, our puppy was still at the hospital when Petsy emailed about the refund, it was a beautiful surprise. They processed everything quickly and with no hidden clauses – exactly what you hope for in a crisis. Petsy is amazing. Honest, straightforward, and so supportive during one of the hardest times of our lives.

I changed pet insurance last year I have two dogs being disabled I depends on other people to take my dogs to the vets so I don't see the vet myself a lot of the time but they only gone to any vet for vaccines and getting the nails done.I been very lucky both my dogs have been in great health. But recently my Kelpie cross has been drinking a lot… Read more
of water and I was a bit worried about her so I took her to the vet who checked her out she still needs a wee test but all looks good maybe a little arthritis so got some anti-inflammatory medication for her. And to my surprise my vet has not heard of petsy pet insurance and out of all pet insurance company's and so I had to pay the whole bill and claim the rest back from petsy. Being disabled I don't have much money but I used my pension money and paid it. As soon as I got home I sent the invoice to the insurance company after 3 days I received a email saying before we can pay a claim we need every vet records you have for the past till I got her so 6 or 7 years back I have no idea the name of any vet she has been too maybe the RSPCA for her vaccines. I now live out in the country. I have two dogs who touch wood have been well most of their life's. But the point I am making why wait till I need my money to live on and ask about her past history. Been taking my $150 every month. If they was not going to cover you pets for any reason then they should say and ask for my dogs history. What if something serious had happened to one of my dogs and they needed $8000 of treatment and me thinking I have insurance so I am ok for the insurance company to turn around and tell me I may not be covered. It's leaves a bad taste in my mouth. So I would recommend you contact them and make sure you have cover. Ask them if they need to contact every vet your animal has ever seen to make sure you pet has insurance. Being sick and disabled it takes time to find out addresses of vets ECT should of asked for this information from the start of the insurance cover. It makes you think they can choose who to cover so they can leave out people who may make a large claim.
Not a straight-forward process with older dogs – I am happy with Petsy Insurance and I am a tough cookie to please. They are really nice people to deal with. If you are interested in insuring your pets with them, please read my review of my personal experience with them, starting at the bottom of my post and working your way up. I am SO pleased that my two dogs are covered by pet insurance. … Read more
For the previous 15 years and 4 pets, my veterinary costs were minimal……..until the snake bite in October last year and from then on, it has been horrendous.
UPDATE NUMBER THREE: March 2023 This time I claimed for the new dog who had a gross vomiting and diarrhoea sickness that I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy. The cost for the vet, including an overnight stay, was $591.54 and I received $298.03 from Petsy as reimbursement. Again, claiming was straight forward and I received the reimbursement back expeditiously.
UPDATE NUMBER TWO: January 2023 Updated to a 4 star rating My older dog was bitten by a brown snake for the second time. This was my first claim on my Petsy Insurance. Potential policy purchasers need to know that you have to pay the veterinary costs first and then claim on your policy. I am informed that many pet insurance policies are like this, but not all. So if you are not “cashed up” or have a “clear” credit card, be warned. The cost this time was $6,688.12 and with the initial vet consultation and the annual excess for this policy deducted, I received $5230.50 back as reimbursement. The claim process was straight forward and I was paid within 7 days of submitting my claim.
UPDATE: 14 December 2022 I have to say that Petsy staff have gone out of their way to communicate with me since my initial review, and I am impressed. Very nice people, and for a gasbag like me, easy to talk with. Clarifying issues: It turns out that my “replacement” dog did have a skin condition when taken into care at the refuge several months earlier which was treated by a vet, and I was not told of this by the refuge or the foster carer when I accepted the dog. I have since clarified matters with the foster carer. This skin condition is classified by Petsy as a pre-existing condition and is excluded from the insurance coverage until reviewed in 12 months. Also, my “replacement” dog had conjunctivitis according to the vet report to Petsy, although the foster cared said this wasn’t correct, and this too, is excluded from coverage until the 12 month review, Regardless, my “replacement” dog shows no signs of either conditions at the moment….hopefully it stays that way. I do feel that Petsy really tries to do the right thing, and I feel more confident in the product as a result. However, as I have told all Petsy staff, with whom I have spoken, one only knows how good their insurance company is when a claim is lodged.
Initial review: Given a three star rating I am not a fan of any insurance companies, so I have not previously insured any of my animals until late this year. In October 2022 I lost one dog to a snake bite and it cost me $9200 to save my other dog, also bitten by the same snake. So, when I found a “replacement” dog from a refuge to keep my saved dog company, I thought I would take out pet insurance for both of them “just in case”. I chose Petsy Insurance based solely on the good reviews on Product Review, which is a site I have posted reviews to, in the past. My “saved” dog is almost 7 and in the 5 years he has owned me, apart from annual vaccinations and the incredibly expensive snake bite, the only other cost has been for dentistry, which I have not taken up in this policy, knowing it would be an exclusion. On the day that the two-year old “replacement” dog came into my ownership from the refuge, I took out pet insurance with Petsy, registered her with the local authority, got her annual heart worm vaccination and purchased tick/flea medication for both pooches. Over two weeks have gone by now, without confirmation of policy coverage, and I was notified yesterday that I would be contacted in relation to pre-existing conditions for both dogs. I expected a short delay with the “replacement” dog, but none with my “saved” dog as he has been treated by the same veterinary practice for the past five years. I know the “saved” dog doesn’t have any pre-existing conditions and the “replacement” dog was sold to me by the refuge as being in good health, so it will be interesting to see what transpires. It is not straightforward insuring older dogs, so be warned, and I am concerned that even if coverage is offered, loop holes will be found to wheedle out of paying out claims. I will post an update when there is progress.
If you love your pet but aren't loaded with emergency cash then I recommend petsy – I never thought I would use pet insurance until I saw what a family member went through with their King Charles Cavalier "Bella''. Unfortunately she had a really bad fall and they had to put her to sleep. Yes, she was pretty old but I'm embarrassed to say it was due to the cost of the vet - they simply couldn't afford it and we weren't in a… Read more
position to help at the time. It was heartbreaking. We did our research and yes read a ton of reviews, played around with the website but we finally settled on petsy after we called customer service - she was definitely a dog owner haha. We have 3 kids in high school so life is very expensive right now, while I know if push came to shove we could and WOULD look after our baby but GEEEEZ it would hurt to get a whopping bill from a vet! Thank god we havent had any issues yet but I can sleep knowing that what happened to my family is hopefully never going to happen to us.

Pesty have been absolutely incredible — I couldn’t be happier with their service and promptness. My pup was sadly admitted to hospital for 4 days with pneumonia, which was a very scary experience. On top of the worry, the financial stress could have been overwhelming, but Pesty paid the vet directly and helped me massively. Every claim I’ve… Read more

I truly couldn’t be happier and highly recommend this pet insurance to anyone. Thank you ❤️
Large dog - down to three legs- definitely needed intervention. Our vets swept in like champions and then our insurance through Petsy eased the stress by processing our claim in a heartbeat. We were not left wondering what the outcome was going to be. Communication was timely and favourable. The claims process was easy to navigate. Show details

Confirmed not pre-existing, then another agent denied claim – I insured our 10 week old "healthy" puppy. As part of a routine vaccination (after policy was taken out) the vet checked pup's ears (brown, not irritated). In the pre-check Petsy initially said there was a pre-existing condition. When I queried this in the pre-check, they reviewed and confirmed that under their policy it was NOT pre-existing.… Read more
Months later I put in a claim for a new mild yeast infection in ear and follow up. Claim denied due to a pre-existing condition! I emailed back with Petsy's previous advice to me. I did not hear back from that agent - then almost 1 month later I received an email from Petsy that I had made a complaint and that they would get back to me within 30 more days. In the meantime I am paying for cover, and am out of pocket awaiting more advice when they previously said it was NOT pre-existing. How can this be? Awaiting the outcome.
I cancelled after a few months – UPDATED review. Five stars for a good signing on experience, then three for poor communication and mistakes three months in. I cancelled the policy. Show details
My puppy has a pre existing condition – Joined up my puppy (4 months) for Petsy pet insurance and the first claim I made was rejected. Why? Because it was deemed she had a preexisting condition. How does a newborn have a preexisting condition??? She doesn’t. Show details

apart, though, is how kind, empathetic, and helpful their team is. It’s rare to find that kind of compassion in the insurance world, but with Petsy, it’s consistent. I’ve had several claims over the years, and every time has been stress-free. Highly recommend!

Our 9 months old golden retriever had to be rushed to the emergency vet on Christmas Day because she'd eaten a stone. 24h later she'd had an operation and we were out of pocket by $8000. Petsy paid 80% back, it was amazing, the insurance has already paid for itself many times over! Show details
Petsy has been an incredible support to us and our dog, Mollie. She recently had her toe amputated due to misconduct by a previous vet, which led to a second vet performing the procedure.
