Philips CD Soundmachine AZ1837/79 Questions & Answers
VerifiedMy trusty Philips Sound Machine AZ 1852 is showing the letters au on the screen with a small lock in the top left hand corner? Does this mean the end of its working life?
Hi. My player plays CD's well, however after a few minutes, the CD starts "over-spinning" making the player stop the CD completely/ I can almost describe the speed as the sound it makes sounds like a plane taking off. Is there a way to fix this? Thanks
I haven't had that problem. I suggest taking it back and asking for a replacement, it sounds like it is malfunctioning and the problem is with it. Hoping your warranty is still valid. Good luck. Sandra
I bought a CD soundmachine AZ1837/79 and when it is connected to the sound mixer through the MP3 sound outlet port (3.5 mm pin socket) the unit is stopping and no sound at all. Do I need to use different pin socket?
Thanks Sitha
Hi Sitha, thanks for reaching out to us with this question. The reason that you have no sound is the fact that the MP3 connection is an input to connect the MP3 player to the unit. Unfortunately, there's no output connector from the AZ1837. We hope this answers your question. Please let us know if there's anything else we can help you with. You can always reach out to us on Facebook or Twitter (@PhilipsCare) as well.
Kind regards,

My Philips (Model AZ1837/79 will not play a CD. While the disk is obviously spinning, I am unable to get any sound. The radio and USB function quite well but not the CD function and has not ever since I first received it. Unfortunately, I did nothing about it and now my warranty is out. Any ideas on how to motivate it?
John
Hi John, thanks for your question. We can imagine the lack of sound makes it quite hard to enjoy your CD Soundmachine. ;) We'd like to see what we can do to help. Did you try to play different CD's? If yes, are these CD's bought or recorded? And does the display show an error message? We're hoping to hear from you.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
Thank you for your prompt reply. I only have original (bought) CD's and are kept in god condition and I have tried a number of them without success. When attempting to play a disk the machine does not display an error or anything untoward. The disk is spinning and I can hear a hum from the machine. I can press the "forward" button and the dial registers that the disk has gone to the next tune but still no sound. I pressed the pause button and on restarting a sound emitted from the machine for approx. 2 seconds. However that only happened a couple of times. Thank you for your interest and I look forward to your reply.

Thank you. We took it back to the place of purchase. They confirmed it to be faulty in the CD playing area and they replaced it.
Can the player be wall mounted. ie.play in a vertical position?
Hi there,
Thank you for your question. The unit is only designed to play when it's horizontal, like on a table or a bench.

I want yo use the AZ1837/79 to play cds /mp3 talking books.. If I turn the machine off will it return to the point where it was turned off - or does it go back to the beginning if the cd? Also does
2.0 from 1 reviewit have an earphone socket?
Thank you for your question, Ann-Marie! If you play a CD and turn the player off, the position of the CD will reset to the beginning once you restart the AZ1837/79. However if you play .mp3’s through an external device, you might be able to pause them over there. Through the MP3-Link you’ll be able to attach a headphone with a 3.5mm stereo line in. :) We of course hope this answers your question, however if there's something else you'd like to find out about our CD Soundmachine, feel free to send us another question, or contact us on 1300 850 633.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
