hi dear
It's really a wonderful helping tool..I love it..
but I have only one question..what metal does the pot made of, is it made of aluminum or stainless steel ,if you please?
thanks in advance
The pot is stainless steel
Hi Wessam. Thank you for your interest. The inner pot is indeed stainless steel, like mindy81 mentioned. :-) Kind regards, The Philips Australia Team.
Besides the slow cooker book from Jamie Olivier, is there anybody who is able to provide me with a table of temperature/time - ingredients. Or a (internet) link ?
I miss amongst others simple things like cooking rice etc...(Yes, just started ..;)
Thanks,
Remark: only found a very summary list at Philips (http://www.p4c.philips.com/cgi-bin/oleeview?refnr=0094774&ctn=HR1041/31&dct=QAD&scy=au&slg=aen)

Did not receive an reply upon my e-mail.
Mmm..unless several attempts to reach out to Philips...the Philips Jamie Olivier Slow Cooker is still in its package.
Too bad that Philips is not able to provide the cooking time/temperature for basic dishes....

Am I able to get a replacement part for the cutting tower?
The part that spins around inside the machine (looks like a paddle) is broken.
Hi Mary, that sounds unfortunate. Could we have you reach out to our team to check this? You can reach our Australian team at 1300 363 391 and our team from New Zealand at 0800 658 224. Thank you!

Hi,
My stirrer stopped working as well. I opened it up and it looks like the engine has burnt out. I only used it a few times and it was good while it lasted. But now it won't work at all, the stirrer was the most important part of this product. I'm really upset that philips would make a product which has a defect that so many people are reporting. Is this why it was discontinued?
Please advise Philips. It was a big waste of money.
Hello Tony. Sorry to hear what happened with the unit. We would recommend to reach out to our colleagues at 1300 363 391, option 2. They should be able to assist you further.
My Jamie Oliver Phillips Homecooker suddenly does not want to stir anymore? What can I do to fix it?
Hi, I'm actually in touch with Phillips about the same problem. It just stopped stirring one day. When they get back to me I'll let you know what they said and will give you their contact details. I wonder if this is a common problem with the Jamie Oliver Phillips HomeCooker?
I'm sorry I cannot help with your dilemma. All I can say is a really simple obvious thing in that just make sure you haven't turned it off by mistake ! Hopefully Phillips can help you
Thank you, I will really appreciate it.
Hello Marshe, thank you for your question. Concerning this strange occurrence we would like to advise to contact us directly through telephone. Seeing that you're based in South Africa, we would recommend using this phone number: +27 086 108 4456

Hi again, it's good Phillips got back to you. They haven't replied to me!
Hi,
My one had the exact same problem. The stirrer stopped working. What do I do???? I'm based in Sydney.
Thanks
How do I make my cooker stir?
The cooker button marked with an arrow is the on/off button for the stirrer
Ha ha, duh! I'm so silly, it would help if the cooker came with instructions though!
Hi Susie. Thanks for submitting the question. If you still need the user manual, you can check it out here:

Can i oil fry (deep fry) with the Jamie Oliver homecooker?
Well it's probably not recommended and it's certainly not in the instructions that you can. It's a stainless steel pot and the stirrer is a heavy duty plastic and the top temperature is 230..hope this answers your question
Hi Candise,
We do not advise to use the Home Cooker for deep frying, it can only be used for frying with thin coat of oil.
Thank you.
does it have the weigh scales like the thermomix and does it come with inbuilt recipes? I was considering the Bellini supercook but have just come across the Jamie Oliver cooker.
No scales or recipes. Quite a different machine to the Bellini, this one does no chopping. One models is sold boxed with a separate machine that will slice, shred and grate, but not chop. I bought this because it is wide and shallow enough to actually brown food, something Bellini (and Thermomix) do poorly.
If your budget stretches to it, have you looked at the Tefal Cuisine Companion? Don't know anyone who has one, but it looks interesting. It appears to combine the features of the Philips and the Bellini/Thermomix, though how well it does this I don't know.
I'd like some basic instructions for cooking rice and pasta and using the steamer e.g. temperature to use, quantities/ratio of water, rice/pasta, how long to cook for etc? I've searched the internet bur can't find anything. I think these type of instructions should have been provided with the cooker. Thanks.
I can't give you a one size fits all because different types of rice and pasta need different amounts of time - refer to the packet instructions for timing. That's why the instructions aren't included in the cooker - it varies a lot.
I'd salt and boil the water, lower basket in, add pasta and cook for the amount of time it says on the packet (check for doneness a minute or so before your time is up). When done, lift the basket out of the water or it will keep cooking. Note: pasta needs to be fully immersed in the water.
Rice is similar but you will need to have the lid on, I guess. I use the absorption method for rice so I don't do it in the homecooker.
Steamer: have plenty of water in pot so that it doesn't boil dry, once it's boiling, add steamer trays and lid. Make sure there's enough space around each piece for steam to circulate freely.
*If it starts boiling over, turn the temp down. Trial and error at first, as with everything. Would write more but character limit.
Thanks for the info Ursula.
Hi Kathymm62, thank you for your enquiry. You can find a lot of basic recipes, a blog and several YouTube videos on our website: external link . You can also check the FAQ on the website, under the section "Use and Learn" you will find a list of different products and their steaming time, temperature, amount of water in the pot, et cetera. (see: external link
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
The Philips Australia Team
Does it work like as an airfryer?
I haven't had any experience with airfryers, but no, I don't think it would get hot enough. I think that an airfryer would involve the movement of superheated air within a chamber, so, no... none of that kind of cooking going on there.
Thanks a lot!
Hello Akireh, you can heat and cook with the Jamie Oliver HomeCooker and It has a constant stirring function. Follow this link for more information: external link . With the Philips Airfryer you can easily fry, bake and roast. You can find all on our website: external link . If you have any further questions feel free to contact us: 1800 302 535.

Does the home cooker have builtin scales?
No. It is a hotplate with a central rotating device which comes up through the centre of the custom-designed saucepan to rotate the stirring arm (you can only use that particular saucepan of course). The hotplate has a handful of temperature settings, none of which corresponded with the actual temperature produced by my unit. The stirring arm did not actually touch the bottom of the saucepan (no matter how well I tried to ensure it and the saucepan were seated in place) and therefore left a layer of unstirred food to burn to the bottom of the pan.
I no longer having this cooker, having sent it to landfill. It was one of the worst purchases I have ever made and I was amazed at how disinterested Philips were in dealing with it.
Hi,
The Philips Home cooker doesn’t have any Scale to weight the food.
Kind regards
The Philips Australia Team
Hi, dose the JO homecooker come with a satisfaction guarantee. After reading the reviews I'm so confused. How can the opinions vary so much?
I am not sure Gemma, ask Phillips. But i think of it as a very hand cooking pot! and that is all. If you want something that does it all save up and buy a Thermomix.
Hi Gemma, I don't agree with the Thermomix - I think it is a glorified liquidiser. I have cooked all sort of cuisines using th JO and have had great results. I highly recommend it because it is an amazing tool - you will not regret it. I use the tower each day as I love salad and I can do all the preps in seconds. Do give if a go and buy from a reputable dealer so you have peace of mind. Give the Thermomix a wide berth as you will regret it - to make delicious soups you must roast your veggies first
No "satisfaction guarantee", and as you have seen Phillips make no attempt to remedy the problem, they simply deny that a problem exists. Part of the reason for the variation in reviews may be that some units have a problem with the stirring paddle not sitting flush against the bottom of the pan, leading to food burning onto the bottom. It may also be a matter of differing expectations. I chose mine because it supposedly (according to Phillips reps on this site) had very precise temperature control. It actually has only limited choices of temperature level, and the temperature it reaches is not the one indicated.
Honestly, you are far better to spend your money on good quality saucepans and just skip the self-stirring aspect. It's an appealing idea, and I wish it worked properly, but in the end this is just another fairly large appliance to store in your kitchen without providing any meaningful gain in cooking function.
Good luck.
Gemma, indeed many people love our HomeCooker, others less so. The only way to really know is to experience it for yourself. The appliance comes with a dedicated recipe book made by Jamie Oliver and these meals always come out perfectly. From our experience, you’ll then find yourself experimenting with some of your other favourite recipes and see if the HomeCooker makes them easier to cook or even nicer to taste. Philips Team.
Sorry, but my JO burned the potatoes to the base, following exactly the recipe for rosemary potatoes in the Jamie cookbook twice !! I was so sure I must have done something wrong the first time!! The crust stuck to the base and burned, while the potato was colourless and unappealing.. I also find that the stirrer does not function well. I took a picture of 3 coloured layers (onions carrots and zucchini) as they were just pushed to the outside of the bowl, building up until they eventually fell over the paddle/ stirrer.
I had more sucess with a soup recipe, but overall am very (expensivelg) disappointed
Where can I find more recipes from??? I have the cook book what came with the machine. Please help me someone I see so many thermomix recipes online.
No clue, sorry. My HomeCooker has never worked for anything except a passable rice pudding. Philips don't seem willing to acknowledge the inaccurate cooking temperature problems and the fact that at least some of these machines leave a gap between the stirrer and the saucepan so that a layer of food goes unstirred and just burns to the bottom of the saucepan.
You can find more recipes in the App Store under Home Cooker. Be patient with yourself - you can convert any recipe that you would normally cook on the stove to the home cooker. I usually start with browning my onions, garlic etc on 250 then add my meat etc and I let most recipes good on a gentle simmer ( this is normally on around 120) you need to keep an eye on it the first time you cook a new recipe but after that it is easy. I have slow cooked and normal 1/2 hr cooking and love the machine. Made Maggie Beers soft Polenta and it was yum
Can it cook mashed potato like a thermomix? I'm also concerned that a common complaint is food sticking to the bottom of the pan. I'm contemplating either the Homecooker as its more affordable or the Thermomix as this does everything but expensive. I don't have a food processor or a mixer so can justify one or the other. I don't think the Thermomix grates, slices or juliennes which also puts me off. Can't decide?
Linda, we're afraid the Home Cooker will not make mashed potato. It can boil of course, but won't mash. There are a certainly a few complaints about food sticking to the bottom of the pan, but we can tell you that it is not a common issue at all.
We try not to compare our HC with the Thermomix as they are quite different in what they can do (and the price!).
Pls use this link as an example of what can be made in the Philips:-
external link
Also, FYI, you can buy a Home Cooker with or without the cutting tower.
Linda I wouldn't buy it for the tower. As a cooker I haven't found sticking an issue but I do season all my cookware with oil regularly.
linda look at the bellini i have it and love it it is affordable if you are after thermamix style
Hi. I have just bought my HomeCooker and have enjoyed the four dishes we have made. However, even though I have followed instructions thoroughly - temperatures, timings etc food sticks hard on the bottom so cleaning up afterwards is problematic, especially as I cannot use a scoured or Jif. This is spoiling our enjoyment of this machine. Any suggestions, please? Many thanks.
I don't have any issues but I do use a slash of olive oil each time. I always season my pans when i get them too Oilve oil). Hope that helps.
Have you tried soaking in white vinager then adding bicarb it cleans beautifully for most burns
