Doesn't last on temperature – Started off well and was smooth to use. It did take a while getting used to automatic temperature selection. However the iron now cuts out during ironing. Cannot even finish one item before the blue light starts flashing again and doesn't heat back up. Have done a descale and it comes back to temperature but then turns off to blue flashing again. Too frustrating. Show details
Disappointed after 3 years – At first I was happy with my Philips PerfectCare Azur. Auto temperature property and strong steam were helping me a lot. Then I realised that after one year that de-calc was not working properly (the amber sign never lit) (It was my laziness to contact the customer service!). And now, after 3 years (and out of warranty), it keeps tripping off… Read more
during ironing. Then I have to plug it in again and wait 2 minutes to heat up in the middle of ironing. I have to buy another iron tomorrow.
Extremely disappointed ... and now this iron died just out of warranty – We purchased this iron mid-January 2015, and last night it failed to turn on or heat up. No warning and a couple of months out of warranty. It wasn't dropped or damaged in any way. It has been a failure from the beginning but we've persevered with it due to its cost. It never got hot enough to do a good job on anything heavy, such as jeans or… Read more
cotton drill. Even shirts have needed many passes of the iron to produce a crisp result. Ironing shouldn't be this hard. Further, it will not dry iron ... unless there is water in the tank to make steam, the iron doesn't remain hot. There are some fabrics such as silk and certain sewing activities where a dry iron is necessary and this iron is a complete fail in this regard. Very very disappointed in its performance overall and now so very frustrated it has ceased working at all. An expensive iron should last longer than just the warranty period plus a couple of months. Is this a case of "planned obsolescence"?

Works well – I was sceptical about an iron with no temperature control, but it actually works very well. I used to have to adjust the temperature a lot, because some of my shirts melted and stuck easily, while others were quite a thick cotton that needed high temperature to get the creases out. This iron handles both automatically. I think the people finding it not hot enough probably need to use more steam. Show reply
Couldn't love an iron more – **** I love this unit. Don't have to adjust any temperatures. I don't burn clothes anymore. From heavy work clothes to soft silks and other fabrics this machine just glides over the clothes. I would highly recommend to anyone. Am now buying one for my daughter who is moving out. Show reply
Steam Iron with NO Temp Control - Unbelievable stuff, I love it – Philips Perfect Care Azur is a Steam Iron with Optimal Temp Technology which means that it has no Temperature Control and you can keep ironing your clothes without having to worry about burning your clothes by mistake... It works like a charm... In fact it is so Perfect that you cannot burst a balloon with a hot iron... Here are product review… Read more · 1

Worst iron ever - Philips hotline said to take it up with the retailer! – It's NEVER optimal temp, leaks water on everything, doesn't get creases out of shirts, takes 5 times as long to 'try' and iron your clothes. Waste of money. I tried calling the 1300 number suggested in below reviews and was told I would need the receipt and to take it back to the store I bought it. I've since moved interstate and do not keep… Read more
receipts for small purchases so I'm left with a dud product. I was told it could be replaced under warranty if I had the receipt and went to the store of purchase... clearly by the reviews it's not a store issue or a replacement fix, the product design is just extremely poor. I've got no idea what they tested this thing on to determine it was the 'optimal temp' iron... maybe they should have called it the 'child safe' iron - prevents burns because it's not hot enough to do the job it's intended for.
So much for buying the most expensive iron on the shelf and expecting a good outcome!

BUYER BEWARE....DON'T BUY ONE – I am so over this iron. It doesn't do a good job at all... come to think of it all it does is cost me time ironing over and over again and money spent on an overpriced non performing product. Ironing is not one of my favourite duties so I am really not impressed with having to go over and over the same garment trying to iron wrinkles out. I… Read more
bought this iron in April 2015 and I will be returning it as it is still in the 2 year warranty this being the only upside of the product. My previous iron was a Tefal and I was very happy with it I let myself be swayed by the advertising of the new age steam iron. I have learned from my mistake and I will not make one like this again. My intention is to return this iron and buy a new Tefal.

Disappointed with water leakage – Only use distilled water in our iron due to poor water quality in remote location, after ironing on average 2 items, light starts to pulsate (not blink), iron loses temperature and then starts to leak. Only way to solve is to turn iron off at power wait, turn power back on and start again. Don't have the ability to return to retailer only purchased in Feb. Show details

NOT RECOMMENDED - AND PHILIPS DON'T CARE – The "Terrible" feedback rating from 37 reviewers is totally accurate. An innovative design (auto temperature) that simply doesn't work. Low temperatures and leaking water prevent this iron from being useable. Contacted Philips today. Won't admit to the issue or recognise this product is not fit for purpose and doesn't meet its advertised claims.… Read more
It's pretty obvious from all the reviews that consumers are not happy. Philips should recognise the issue and offer to replace the product or provide refunds.

Blew up 28 days after warrenty expired! – Another appliance with a short warranty that dies conveniently just after the warranty expires. I was ironing four nights ago when I heard two pops from my iron and then that smell of when you accidently put metal in the microwave came out of it. Dead iron. Gone. It was an average iron, definitely not fabulous and I will not buy this model again or Phillips again. Water leaks and need to iron areas several times to get a good result.

Expensive disappointment – I was encouraged by the sales person to purchase this item as it was supposed to be the best iron ever. Sadly I paid top dollar for this disaster of an iron. Water leakage onto clothing, low temperatures resulting in persistence to iron basic poly cotton business shirts which looked like they never were ironed in the first place, oh and the lack of steam. So it is now in the bin. Don't think I will ever buy another Phillips iron.

This is the worst iron I have ever used! – This iron is just useless and I have struggled with it since its purchase. It won't iron out wrinkles from basic fabrics and don't even bother trying to iron cotton or linen. Putting the clothes under my bed to iron out the wrinkles would be as effective. Will never buy a Phillips again. Pity I had to rate it even a one star, however cannot rate it zero it appears.

Worst iron, piece of junk, how disappointing – My boyfriend bought this iron at Harvey Norman and thought it would be good because he paid over the odds for it. how disappointing. Does not heat up enough to press cotton or linen effectively. Leaks water randomly but is not hot enough to dry the wet spots! Now leaking rusty water. Useless from the start. Very heavy

A really bad choice, leaks and marks clothes and just doesn't iron!! – I researched this iron and it was recommended by Choice, after about a year of persevering with it I am off to buy a new iron. It just doesn't iron the basics, shirts, t shirts, cotton and linen all look terrible after "ironing" with this iron. Bad buy and waste of money.dfsa

Very disappointed, No heat control and not hot enough to iron with – I agree - miserable purchase and will not buy an iron again that doesn't give me a control lever to choose which setting. This model does not heat enough to do shirts, linen, etc and generally I have to re-iron (we all love that, not) so very disgruntled and unhappy with this purchase.

Very frustrating iron to use – I am very unhappy with this iron. It takes too long to heat up and does not get hot enough to iron cotton, linen or work wear. It won't get hot enough to fuse interfacing to fabric and as it wasn't by any means a cheap iron, I feel short changed.
That makes us unhappy too, Millie!… Read more
Waste of money - worst iron ever – Can't believe I let the sales rep talk me into this iron. Complete waste of money. Does not get hot enough and likes to leak water over clothing due to not enough steam being produced. Very disappointed in product. Very disappointed doesn't work as advertised – Brought this iron (azur4912) in January as it was rated best by Choice. Worst purchase ever. $129.00 (lucky it was on sale) and 7 months of frustration later and I had to purchase a new iron. No one in the family liked it. Would not get to temp and hold it. Nothing is ever crease free.

A big disappointment! – I bought this iron this week and was very disappointed. The iron would not get hot enough to iron my husband's work shirts. The shot of steam would not puff when I pressed the button. The steam shot out of the sides of the iron when ironing but not at the bottom on the clothes and when I stood it up all the steam came shooting out. This iron had… Read more
won awards so I thought that it would be fantastic. I had there Azur iron before and was very happy with it but they do not make it any more so I thought this one would be really good. It was very hard to put the water in as it opens on the side .
I returned it after 2 weeks and got a full refund! Very happy with that.

Awful – Worst iron I have ever used. Absolute waste of money and doesn't iron the most basic items. Phillips needs to look at this and fix the problem or remove them off the shelves. Can someone from Phillips contact me and organise how this can be fixed. I spent $200 on an iron that does not work.

'Choice' 5-star Rating? – I purchased this iron 2nd hand on eBay after researching the latest steam iron review carried out by 'Choice'; I now know why it was so cheap - this must be the worst iron since Grandma's coal-fired version! As with other reviews; the iron doesn't get hot enough to iron linen/cotton, it heats up at first then doesn't 'cycle' meaning I have to… Read more
turn the iron off at the mains then wait another 3-5 minutes for it to reach temperature!
There is nothing redeemable about this iron - not even heavy enough for a boat anchor.
Maybe the National Museum would like to purchase mine and display it as the 21st Century's Worst Piece of Household Technology? (Wonder what country it was made in?)
Sorry to hear that the product didn't meet up to your expectations.
Leaks Water & Doesn't Iron – I was sceptical about this technology, unfortunately I should have purchased a regular, adjustable heat iron. Aside from taking ages to heat up, then not ironing effectively, it switches off very shortly after being left inactive and then you have to wait AGAIN for it to heat up. Even when it's ready to use & has been ironing several minutes, it… Read more
leaks water over the clothing and sometimes down the handle. This makes me concerned about electrocution as it dribbles to where the cord inserts into the handle. The most frustrating aspect is the time it takes to dry out all the wet patches on the cotton fabric whilst seeming to switch itself off/lose heat. Do not recommend this iron until Philips have the technology functionally effective.
Fortunately the Good Guys really are good about exchanging it!

Took a risk that has paid off – Being a new Iron it was hard to find many reviews on this Iron. Philips have taken a new approach to Ironing and it has no temperature controls so the concern is will it melt the silks and synthetics. My last two irons were Tefal and both have broken down after a few years so I decided to move brands to Philips this time. So far I can only talk up… Read more · 1
this Iron. What they claim is accurate. The Iron works more on steam than on heat so it is easier to iron, faster and does a better job. Synthetics and Silk Iron without a temperature change and Jeans and linen still iron with speed and without creases. I highly recommend taking the risk and changing they way you iron with this product.
By far the worst iron – Philips is usually quite a good brand but this iron is beyond a joke - I can't even get the creases out of a Tshirt - I bought this iron because a sales rep had told me about all it new technologies that Phillips has bought out - I'm sorry but what a load of crap. The iron steams and seems warm enough but it doesn't get the creases out. I Am very… Read more

Worst iron ever! – I would even know where to begin - the fact that the iron is not even near hot enough to iron clothes, that the "optimalTEMP" is crap, it takes 10 minutes to warm up, water leaks onto the clothes?? fairly good, but this iron is beyond a joke. To iron a t shirt is a mission as it struggles to get the creases out as the iron doesn't even reach a hot enough temperature.
I bought this iron because a sales rep had told me about all it new technologies that Phillips has bought out - I'm sorry but what a load of $@!*. There is nothing new about this iron - yes! The iron steams and seems warm enough but it doesn't get the creases out at all.
I Am a FT working mother and the last thing I want to do is spend an extra hour on my ironing because of a dodgy iron. I am very disappointed with this product and I advise everyone to walk the other way when they see it on the shelves.. Very disappointing that such a reputable company has put such a dodgy product on the market and still continue to sell them. In my opinion the only place this iron belongs is in the bin.

Are you serious? – Worst iron ever! No where near hot enough to iron a crease out of anything. Steam for about 15 seconds and then you're on your own. My suggestion for anyone looking to buy one, run! This iron will surely ruin Philips iron range if it continues to be on the shelves.

Worst iron ever – The good guys sure did their job talking me into this lemon. Specifically explained what I wanted it for and it had to be up to the task of ironing quilting fabric. It's not. Drips water all over your clothes – Don't waste your money on this iron. A definite lemon, it doesn't live up to anything in the sale pitch. After the first use, I realised why it is free, the iron doesn't live up to any of the promised features. "No… Read more
drip" was a must, after owning a previous iron that occasional dripped over my clothes. This iron doesn't heat up enough and after a minute of ironing will spew water all over your clothes.
I did research the reviews, unfortunately, the iron must have not been that widely used at the time, as it is now. Don't ignore the poor rating, it truly is an indication of a product that should be avoided at all costs.
Worst iron I've ever owned – After using a Sunbeam for approx 20 years it was time to upgrade and I purchased the PerfectCare Azur. What a waste of money and as soon as I can get back to Good Guys with my receipt I am going to try and swap it or get a refund. It's unable to remove normal washing wrinkles from pure cotton shirts, even after slowly (and I mean slowly!)… Read more
running the iron over the shirt, using extra shots of steam and then ironing the reverse side, the shirt still looks terrible. On standing the iron upright the amount of steam that shoots out into the kitchen is remarkable. After two shirts the water tank needs refilling. This single star is given because it can manage to iron hankies though not too well. Luckily ran into a Philips Rep in Harvey Norman today who's given me his card and told me to tell Good Guys to give me an exchange or refund. The last Philips I'll ever knowingly buy. Total fail.
