2006-2011 Proton Savvy Questions & Answers
Car wont go in to neutral what could cause this
Could be a clutch issue, gear box, synchroniser ring…. It’s hard to say without going to a mechanic but my guess is a clutch issue, which happened to me.If it is then good luck trying to find a clutch cable. My mechanic had to shorten mine because they don’t make them anymore and it was absolutely impossible trying to source one from here or overseas. Honestly trying to get any parts replaced is an expensive nightmare!

Do not buy a Savvy. They are worth nothing. One gasket I bought was $600 The parts were made by Renault had their markup put on then supplied by the proton agent with their mark up again. Constant break downs as well. Worst late model car I have owned.
Hi there, my name Ma. I own a 2006 proton savvy and the problem I'm having is that in all the cars I have owned except for this one, u would normally have access to your car radiator, in this case my proton is abit different. So my question is. Where or how do I refill my car radiator with coolant or can I use water? I do know about the coolant reservoir. Is that where I put the coolant?
hi there..I have been a mechanic and proton savvy owner since 2008..for your information, you do not have direct access to the radiator, instead you just have to fill in the reservoir tank which is at the top right.. Hope it helps
Does a Proton Savvy D4fa engine bent its valves if the belt breaks whilst in motion?
Yes bent. Need to replace valves or get second hand head.
I have a problem of my proton savvy for 2008 after repairs of timing belt, valves and schemed top engine it start but doesn't have power, any help?
How to change the generator belt in 2006 proton savvy?
Hopefully you have changed it by now. Need spanner and torx Allen key or special torx socket
how hard is it to change timing belt on a savvy and at what kilometers? b0b
It's probably better to ask proton Australia that question though it's usually better to do it around 50 000 to 60 000 kilometres or so at a proton Australia workshop or a mechanical repairs workshop
Yes it is quite difficult and does require some special tools. In saying that the mileage says in the book that it is recommended at 90000klm.
I hate the proton savvy the spare parts are 3-4 times more expensive than other normal cars in the same class and because the hood compartment is so compact it makes a mechanics nightmare of hell trying to repair spare parts in the engine compartment, for example to try and replace a new timing belt for the proton savvy. The timing belt is hidden away underneath, which means to gain access to it you have to remove the the engine mount, head cover manufold, and head gasket cover and sometimes you can't even use regular standard tools to do the job, it requires special customised tools to open certain screws and nuts/bolts, etc. I am saying all this because I am a proton savvy owner, sorry to say I could only buy this car as it was the cheapest at that moment in time, when it was first launched in 2005 as it was all I could afford. I was lucky I was given a 5 year warranty with 3 years free servicing because for the first 5 years I did not have many problems with the car. Now the car is almost 12 years old and I am having so many problems with the car, all at the same time, non-working aircond, non working radio, rpm very high when trying to start up the car in the mornings, speedometer not working, timing belt needs replacement, head gasket needs replacement, etc. etc. along with 10 other spare parts which need to be changed s well and sending my car to an authorised proton service centre in Malaysia is a JOKE! What the service centre want to charge me to completely do a full engine and car overhaul would cost me the same amount of what my car is currently worth on 2nd hand car market of RM8,000 - RM9,000.
Can you drive the semi auto proton savvy just as a automatic? As in you just put it in drive and that's all you have to do?
It's probably better not to muck around with something that's reasonably designed and use it the way it's supposed to be used / if you still are interested perhaps you could get proton Australia workshop or a transmission specialist workshop to put it another gearbox though if it works well and it is a risk to safety why would you want to
the battery came out of the key and now the car wont start, does something need to be reset
Good luck mate, unfortunately it means the key needs to be re coded again and you may have to contact the dealer which is goning to hit your hip pocket. Unless you have a spare key.
You most likely lost the tiny chip that is in the key thats all as battery changing does not cause an issue. Seek proper advice.
