Organised quickly and efficiently. Based on my health issues this trip was cancelled – Found all the advice I needed. Insurance paid and issued quickly. Disappointed in time taken and constant emails requesting more information from prominent surgeon. 6 months for claim to be settled. So many road blocks within new owner in my opinion. Show details

Totally disappointed – I tried to pay for a policy and received a message that there was a problem with my quote so I then chose another provider. I did try to phone RAC just before 5pm (WA time) but was told it was outside their hours and to phone on Monday. In the meantime I insured elsewhere and later received an email with details of an RAC policy which I asked RAC to cancel. Terrible customer service. Show details

Still waiting for an answer – Put in a claim for a basic cancelled flight occurrence. Checked with them at the time if the occurrence would qualify, which they said it did. 4 Months later we are still waiting for an answer. We have been contacted twice asking for the same information, which we supplied, but still no answer on the claim... Can't recommend this insurance. Show details

Excellent coverage and pricing – RAC is my go to for nearly all my insurance cover these days. Love that RAC Travel policies cover so much but also the staff were so so helpful in answering some curly questions, big thankyou to Travis in West Perth. A big plus for me and often the deciding factor is that eveything, including the call centre is based in Australia. Excellent experience – This was the first time I used RAC travel insurance. It was easy to set up online. After getting covid while on holiday in Tasmania, I claimed for flights, accommodation, car hire and meals. I was very impressed with their customer service whenever I rang the call centre. My claim was paid in full without query and the refund was in my bank account in 16 days. I would have no hesitation in using them again. Show details

All is great until you need to make a claim – I have used RAC travel insurance serval time ,first claim , I don't think it was read/understood , quest for information over the top / not possible to get (privacy) I had to change plans as My Father was unwell ,told by DR 48 hours would be the deciding factor ,so plans changed!!!!! Show details

Read the fine print for Cancellations and list deposits your not covered – The PDS section one outlines cover for “Cancellation Fees and Lost Deposits for travel and accommodation arrangements that You have pre-paid and cannot recover in any other way if Your Trip is cancelled or cut short at any time, through severe circumstances beyond Your control that You did not expect or intend.” With 17 direct and 40 general… Read more

exclusions for this section of the policy with the key one being “cancellation, delays or rescheduling caused by Your Transport Provider” I surely did not expect my flight to be cancelled within 3hrs of travelling, it was beyond my control, no deposits recovered due to policy exclusion.

The policy section is poorly written suggesting you will be covered, Can’t see any circumstances that this section of the policy will actually cover. Read the fine print.

Do not use RAC insurance:. They deal with a Foreign insurer who does not want to settle claims – We made a claim in June 2022 and four months later NO settlement. Now we find they have subcontracted the policy out to a foreign insurance company. We had to seek the help the Australian Financial Corporation Authority ( AFCA) who advised the insurers to settle our claim. All our insurance for cars, house, travel is with the RAC. We intend to cancel all of our policy's and look for a genuine Australian Insurer. Show details

RAC TRAVEL INSURANCE = CAVEAT EMPTOR (buyer beware) – Previously as Gold membership RAC members we have taken out RAC House and Contents insurance and Personal Vehicle insurance with no claims and a 100% NCB for our vehicle. RAC Travel Insurance Policy was taken out in May 2022 as the package was costed at AUD 16180 = serious money ! RAC Insurance website was used to buy the insurance online and indicated any claim would be assessed by RAC assessors as after all they are an insurance company = now the RAC Horizons magazine indicates all claims will be assessed by the underwriter Tokio Marine Ninchendo but NOT when we took out the policy in March 2022. Claim form was submitted 4 May 2022 with all documentation and was assessed by Tokio Marine Management Australasia who then required further medical history from 2019 to May 2022 posted Express Post with a Tracking number and I had to sign a form that gave the assessor access to "all assets, liabilities, earnings, salary & wages" = absolute seeds for identity theft which RAC SERIOUSLY NEED TO REWORD THEIR CLAIMS FORM. Management of Tokio Marine was involved and eventually AUD 16080 was EFT'd to our nominated account on 18 August 2022. As RAC GOLD membership for 40 years we expected a professional approach to our only RAC insurance claim = as the old adage says you don't know how good your insurance company is until you make a claim ! We contacted RAC Insurance online three weeks ago and was just given a reference number but have not been contacted since. WE WILL NOT RENEW OUR RAC GOLD MEMBERSHIP NOR EITHER POLICY IN 2022/23 AS RAC IS JUST AWARE OF THE FINANCIAL BOTTOM LINE NOT MEMBERSHIP BENEFITS !

stress has been overwhelming and I am devastated to be treated so unfairly. At no time was I given help to find a doctor and when I emailed asking them to call me they informed me that the company doesn’t make phone calls. I was terribly ill in Cairo and had absolutely no support.

Easy to obtain policy on-line – I have used RAC Travel insurance several times and find it easy to obtain on-line, including the coverage of Pre-Existing Medical issues, and the cost is fair when comparing to others of a similar service level and reputation. Peace of Mind – When I travel overseas, I tend to head to RAC for travel insurance.
