It's the first time we have use RACV travel insurance, although we have had numerous cars & other insurance policies with them over 25+ years.
We took out 2 travel insurance policies in February for travel in 2020, however with the worldwide spread of CoVid-19, we are unable to travel.

Tokio Marine Management are a disgrace
Trying to claim an international flight, my husband cancelled because of uncontrollable pain. I have all the necessary documentation from his doctor,physician and specialist stating clearly that his pain was from an undiagnosed disc bulge.
I can always trust RACV
Even though I had to cancel my travel arrangements RACV kindly gave me a full refund of the premium. This was after I made a single phone call to a dedicated line set up to handle enquiries relating to the effect of the Corona Virus on travel insurance policies.
I been too many time oversea and always used this insurance company .
I recommend RACV to my family and friends, my policy was really good but under the circumstance unfortunately I cancel and got all my payment back. Thanks
Giving me more grief than help
I have been a loyal customer of RACV for the past 10 years for my cars, houses and travels. Thus, recently i travel to Japan under the extra travel care of RACV. But unfortunately, due to me being overseas without a international calling phone number (japan is well known for strict regulation in not allowing visitors to have international phone calls but only data), and my flight being delayed, I nominated my sibling to call on my behalf to enquire about my delayed flight. Instead of addressing my needs, RACV customer service brushed off my del...ayed flight instantly and named it as coronavirus. So, I had to get hold of a phone immediately to reclarify that it was not because of coronavirus but rather because of airline companies wanting to save cost by not flying when there's lack of customers on board. They instantly shut me out saying that there was a breach of fraud: fraud because my sibling called on my behalf. How am I supposed to get in touch with RACV when I am in an emergency situation if not through my next of keen: siblings who are currently residing in australia? And instead of addressing my needs, they are giving me more grief and causing me more anxiety by saying they will no longer entertain my call and any of my claims due to my sibling calling on my behalf. How is this legally right and justified of them? So, in the event of future emergency or deaths, I still have to be the one calling RACV to claim? This is outrageous! This is a total breach of basic customer rights and insult to my long term loyalty to RACV. Extremely distasteful and lack of professionalism on the part of RACV.
Decided to cancel my planned trip to Japan due to health and safety concerns and wanted to cancel my travel insurance. I rang the hotline and was surprised with how easy and accomodating they were to cancel the insurance with no questions asked thank you!
Due to personal commitments and some uncertainty about travel risks, I have changed my travel plans - dates and destinations. I contacted RACV for advice and in one simple phone call was able to change all the details and even received a partial refund. Good service for good travel cover.
I rang yesterday enquiring where I stand if l am impacted by cancellations due to the Canara virus. I gave the operator my policy no. And he didn’t know where I stood. Said it was a hypothetical question And if happens just lodge a claim and wait and see! !

Perfect customer service
I initially sourced a quote off the RACV website. I had a question to ask - Celeste was lovely to speak with and very helpful and completed my purchase. The cost is almost half what the travel agent handling our booking quoted - and we have a group booking of 98 for two weeks of travel.

Value policy. Hard to beat.
First time users. Policy was much cheaper than alternative offered by flight centre. List of inclusions covers all contingencies. Will be interesting to see service if we do happen to make a claim after our holidays

Worst experience with a service provider in my life
We had flights cancelled on us while overseas, with no option provided by the airline on the same day to get us to our destination. We had pre-booked family reunion (accommodation, meals, activities) and thus were not able to delay our arrival. So we booked alternate flights and sought to have the cost covered by RACV travel insurance.
Were told by RACV that the event wasn't 'special' enough to warrant a claim under section 4C of our policy. The trip was planned and booked to reunite our family with my sister who had been living overseas for ...the first time since our grandfather passed. The activities planned were carefully selected as a way to commemorate the relationship my sister had with our grandfather as she was left in a difficult mental state being away from home during this difficult time. I have never had a more unsympathetic and disgusting interaction with a service provider in my life. This culminated with RACV accusing me of fabricating an itinerary for the trip once we were home. Had the reviewer bothered to look at the contents rather than just the meta-data of the document they would have seen that the itinerary was imported in as a photo. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere, if travelling without travel insurance is gambling then getting a policy through this company is no different - it will just cost you a few hundred bucks extra.

No Empathy or attention to details
This was my first time, will not be using them again. I lost everything due to fire and water damage overseas. The claims officer lacks attention to detail has not even bothered to look at the information already provided, asking again to provide the same information. Has no empathy. Response time is unacceptable 10 working days after every conversation has breached privacy. RACV is just trying its best ti get out of paying a claim while a claim logged with CGU by my husband for his things went so smoothly and was hassle free
