Never again. Six months to have claim settled and less than half considered. They wanted receipts for old items including one purchased in 1950! Who keeps a life time of purchase receipts. Worst travel insurance ever existed – Lodge a claim for my damaged suitcase during my travel which falls directly under my cover and the assessor takes 1.5 months to respond to every comment and also their comments are not clear which push your time by another month to get a clear response. Totally useless and would not recommend. There are way better travel insurance out there that are way more reliable. Do not waste your time buying their cover. Total waste of money! Show details

Due to Covid-19 we were not permitted to travel and I requested a refund of my premium but was initially rejected on the basis that I took out the policy BEFORE Covid-19 was a known event. providing it was before May 2021 but I personally could not see Overseas Travel being allowed before that time. As a RACV member for almost 50 years I was disappointed with this outcome as I have been a great supporter of their Travel Insurance because of the product offering, competitive pricing and good reputation of RACV and I have recommended it to many of my friends. However I had the case escalated to RACV Member Relations who dealt with the case promptly and efficiently and within a short period of time the matter was resolved to the satisfaction of both parties.

Good travel insurance – Our hire care in lake Como Italy was broken into and all our luggage was stolen! Racv were very good once we got home. Provided the police statement and had to list everything stolen item including presents we bought there and then provide receipts for the clothing etc. I used bank statements for non paper receipts ..Any clothing without receipts… Read more

we couldn’t produce they refunded 50% to us ! I posted receipts as I did not know how to download them .This took a month but very happy with RACV ... our daughter took out basic care which was only $2500 cover and she lost a lot more than that! Go for the larger amount . We had $7500 cover and received over $3000 back

days before we were meant to leave. That's almost $300 back, no questions asked. I have used RACV in the past and will continue to use RACV in the future.

Note - not giving full marks for transparency as I bought cover on Feb 3, which was three days after the cut-off for COVID related coverage (it became a "known event" for all overseas destinations on Jan 30). There was nothing alerting me to the cut-off or lack of coverage when I bought the policy, and even when I went looking for information on coverage a few weeks after I bought the policy to check if I was covered, the information about the "known event" and cut-off dates were buried in the website and not easy to find.

Siobhan has been amazing. She listened as I explained my circumstances, showing a great deal of compassion. Within a couple of days Siobhan emailed me to assure me that I would receive a full refund as I was unable to use the policy. She followed up with a phone call to ensure I had received the email and to offer her deepest sympathy to my husband and me. I greatly appreciated her professionalism and her personal approach. I would recommend RACV travel insurance because of the magnificent service I received from Siobhan.

You only know how good it is when you have to make a claim – Had to make 2 claims on my policy this time, one for medical expenses and one for stolen money when we were forced to take money from ATM in Buenos Aires, both claims have been paid in full and as we had opted for nil excess we got back the full amount of our claim, lodging claim on line was easy and requests for extra information meant I only had to scan documents. calls but only data), and my flight being delayed, I nominated my sibling to call on my behalf to enquire about my delayed flight. Instead of addressing my needs, RACV customer service brushed off my delayed flight instantly and named it as coronavirus. So, I had to get hold of a phone immediately to reclarify that it was not because of coronavirus but rather because of airline companies wanting to save cost by not flying when there's lack of customers on board. They instantly shut me out saying that there was a breach of fraud: fraud because my sibling called on my behalf. How am I supposed to get in touch with RACV when I am in an emergency situation if not through my next of keen: siblings who are currently residing in australia? And instead of addressing my needs, they are giving me more grief and causing me more anxiety by saying they will no longer entertain my call and any of my claims due to my sibling calling on my behalf. How is this legally right and justified of them? So, in the event of future emergency or deaths, I still have to be the one calling RACV to claim? This is outrageous! This is a total breach of basic customer rights and insult to my long term loyalty to RACV. Extremely distasteful and lack of professionalism on the part of RACV.
