Good evening I am a plumber in WA and have a problem with a circuit board on a 531260PO system it was manufactured 21/4/2006 serial 2769462 . I am hopeful there is an upgrade that could keep the system functioning as there are no leaks on the system and although the water isn't great over here in WA the system has had anodes replaced regularly and has had a panel replacement about 5years ago. Don't hold you breath Richard. There are aftermarket solar hot water system controllers available. Look for Aestiva (Made in Australia) and Sorel (made in Germany) available on ebay for under $200. You can install them yourself.

Richard, I have a similar model HWS 20 OCT 2005, 531260N0. It has a mains short on a similar Southcorp Solar Controller board and so am interested in what you ended up buying. NB: the Sorel only have a 40C degree ambient operating temperature range specified. Not sure about the Aestiva.
My current next step is to remove and trace out the circuit and look for transformer short or dry capacitor problem.

Hi, System is only a year old and already given us issues, we are not getting any hot water downstairs, but we are getting ample of hot water upstairs. The only time we can get hot water downstairs is by turning on the gas booster. The solar seems to work fine since we are able to shower upstairs with just solar power. Any troubleshooting will be appreciated.
PS Rheem wants to charge a call out fee despite system under warranty and a year old. Ummmm.
I think you should really leave the booster powered on (on any gas boosted solar system). It will autodetect if the temp needs boosting and fire accordingly. That issue sounds strange to me - perhaps your hot water pipes take a long path, servicing upstairs first from the storage tank and that's why you lose temperature downstairs.
What I would do is ask a plumber to investigate first - not Rheem. They just use an approved local plumber anyway so at least you can get a quote.

There is a metal hitting sound when we turn on and off the hot water? Is it normal? I have checked few houses, there is a sound when we start and close the hot water but not that kind of sound. Is there anyway we can fix it? I am not sure if I need to call the service as they might charge me saying it's normal so I want it to be fixed but don't want to pay it either. Does anyone have the same issues?

The system has detected the temperature differential between the tank and solar collector. It is telling you that the circulation pump is running.

Moved into a brand new townhouse. The hot water bill for first 3 weeks was $142.00 and says this is equal to 7 people in the house. We have 2. Estimate for 2 months is $390. Gas hot water and hot plates costing $6.50 per day. Does this seem excessive? Checked usage frequently and this is consistent. Is the 511161 known to cost this much to run?

What part needs replacing if the boost burner doesn’t kick in when the temperature of the water in the tank drops.?
Hi Brendan you would need to ask your technician as they know what would be causing the temperature drop in your tank . this is our first rheem hot water lowline gas heater and I know nothing about it as l am not a technician only a home owner l hope this helps you and sorry I could not give you the answer you need.

How can i disconnect the solar heating part. Keeps leaking from the roof either connector or joints of the piping. Costly plumber fees for very little heat from the solar panels!

Rheem Solar loline model 531260N0 I cannot find the control to turn on/off gas booster anywhere in my house. I am the new owner. How does it look like and what can I do? Rheem technician came and cannot find the control. On cloudy days there is no hot water. So now it's on solar and gas.

I am having this annual event of hot water failure in autumn and winter. The gas boost button does not work, but pilot light is on. Called service every year since 4 years ago. The system was installed in 2003 when this house was built, but I only purchased it in 2010. Replaced the in-house control and also another part of the boiler, still not working. I am now boiling water on my stove for my 5 years old daughter. Really frustrating. It seems all my neighbour experienced more or less the same issue. What should I do?

how to set my gas booster , is there a manual
I am in a townhouse which is nearly 4 years old I have a Rheem Solar water heater 160L model 51116102. There is no problem with the operation of the hot water service but there is a green light at the bottom of the water tank which pulsating and flashing on and off and making a noise which is very annoying when you are outside.is this correct?

I have a 531260N0 model, and a service repairer has told me that I need a replacement solonoid. My problem is that Rheem stopped production of this model spme time ago and no one appears to know where I can get a replacement part for it. I would have thought that Rheem would still have parts as this unit is approximately 10 years old. Can anyone tell me who sells any of these solonoids as Rheem are of no assistance.
