HI, Our 556 FRT has worked well right up to last week. the display is completely dead. I have changed the wall socket to one that we know is working but to no avail. Is there a fuse that needs to be changed into the power supply? No fan or lights at all.
Shane
Hi Shane R, Thanks for the question. We recommend contacting our 1st Care service team on 1300 555 545 to book a service call or alternatively you may book online following the link provided - external link Thanks, Rinnai Australia.
Hi, My issue is that I am in a remote regional town and so service calls are expensive as there is around 400Km travell associated normally. I'd like to determine whether bringing the heater to the service center or just removing it and replacing with something is a better option commercially. ( I have 4 of appliances in our apartments, one of which is not working) I need to ensure that I am in a serviceable area prior to filling out all the required data in the form.
Shane
Hi Shane, We would not recommend uninstalling the heater as this should only be done with an authorised gas fitter. The service team will be able to confirm for you that there is a technician within your area before a service call is booked.
Thanks Rinnai Australia

The filter light keeps flashing ... we clean the filter, replace it and after a short time, the light flashes again. Any ideas?? We recently moved into the house so not sure of the history of cleaning by the previous owners.
Hi Denise
Thank you for your enquiry, has the heater been serviced recently? We do recommend with any gas heater that they are cleaned and serviced every 2 years to ensure optimum safety and performance.
Thanks Rinnai Australia
Thanks for your reply. We have only been in the house a short time, so don't know the service record of the heater. We keep cleaning the filter as instructed, but still no joy. Is it safe to leave the heater running with the filter light flashing? thanks.
Hi Denise,
Given you do not know the service history of the unit, we would strongly recommend having the heating serviced as there may be build up from several yeats of use,
thanks Rinnai Australia

Hi the speed of convection fan at the beginning is hi and the heat is quite good but after approximately 15 minutes the speed drops and the amount of heat will decrease. How can I fix the problem and get the heat like the start until the temperature in the room reaches the set temperature.
Hi Majid S, Thanks for the question, firstly, check that the economy button is not pressed on as it will reduce the heat and fan speed. Check the Set point and Room temperature display in case the room sensor is reading a higher temperature than actual as that will reduce fan and heat.
Make sure that there are no obstructions around the rear, sides and top of the heater causing reduced air flow/ventilation.
If you require any further assistance please call our Technical help desk on 1300 555 545 option 3.
Thanks, Rinnai Australia.

Hi fernando heusser,
Thank you for your question.
We would recommend you contact our service team on 1300 555 545 to book a service call.

Fernando, I have the same problem. Rinnai won't admit it but the gas supply company plumber reckons the code 12 problem is the sensors/electronics settings are far too touchy for Melbourne gas supply grid. Like a hair trigger. Won't tolerate normal slight pressure deviations, like any other sensible appliance. Only fix seems to be to increase house gas pressure at regulator, which will cost you not Rinnai. I'm not going to. Will put up with the failures, restart , restart again.I reckon appliance not fit for intended use. My gas pressure perfectly normal under proper test. Plumber reckons this problem common, becoming a nuisance across Melbourne.
Hi, when we turn the heater on, a red light comes on, it works for about 5 minutes ad then cuts off, stops. Any ideas? Jane
Hi Jan, it depends where the light is showing, you may need to clean the filters if this is the light that is illuminating. If the unit is cutting out, it may be that the filters are blocking the airflow to the unit and it will cut out as a safety precaution.
Alternatively if the heater has not been serviced recently, it may require a general service which you can book here:

Thanks Rinnai Australia
Hi Jane, I've had the same problem with another model, Ft 309...." Code 12" , gas supply problem,etc.. Intermittent, most of the time the heater works OK, so difficult to prove. Called gas company to check house gas pressure. Perfectly normal under proper test. This plumber reckons having a lot of call-outs re alleged low gas pressure on Rinnai Ft heaters, when, like mine, it's not. Plumber reckons it's the Rinnai electronics, pressure detector set far too sensitive for Melbourne gas supply grid. Plumber reckons only solution is to adjust the gas regulator at the meter to increase your house gas pressure. This will cost you, not Rinnai. Don't call Rinnai for service fault under warranty, they will find no fault with their heater and bill you around $300 for a false call-out. I just put up with the thing now, no use trying to talk sense to Rinnai.
Hi i have 556 ftr when i put the temperature over 23c the heater tern off and indicate cod 14 what dos mean? and how can i solve this problem thanks Alex
Hi, this sound like an error code which indicates there is a blockage in the filter or airintake. The heater will shut down as a safety mechanism. If cleaning the filter and check nothing is blocking the intake do not fix the issue, a service call will be required.

Hi Can the filter on these units be replaced ?
Hi Christopher, Thank you for the question. I have checked with the technical help desk team and they have confirmed the filters can still be purchased through Tradelink or Reece stores. I have also checked the manual and it states, filters should be cleaned every week during the winter season.
Thanks Rinnai Australia

Hi I have a Rinnai 556FM Heater what does it mean when the on light flashes Red after it tries to start?
Hi Tracey, The ON indicator will change colour from red to green when the heater reaches the pre-set temperature and stops running. If the heater does not ignite then the pre-set temperature may not be set to a setting which is higher than the room temperature.
Thanks Rinnai Australia
Hi my heater keeps turning off with the number 33 flashing can you help me at all please and thankyou
Looks like the overheat sensor and needs a service call unfortunately
Hi Helen B, Thanks for the question, as Ronaldo has mentioned, this error does indicate a fault with the overheat sensor and a service call will be required to fix. You can book a service call here:

Ive just noticed a small amount of water on the floor behind the my heater 556FTR (rear right side viewed from front). Its not a large amount which leads me to think it may just be condensation. All functions otherwise appear normal. No smells or other issues. Should I be concerned?
Hi Kent, thanks for the question, we would recommend a service call for the unit to be sure there is no underlying cause for the water which may lead to issues. You can book online here: external link Thanks Rinnai Australia
thx. I will keep an eye on it to see if it worsens in which case I will contact my local tradies to take a look. ...
