Hi, Have the problems with the Ultima 2 inbuilt been sorted out, i notice that the negative reviews are quite old ?
I can only answer based on the work they did on our fire about a year ago. The tech said that the temp sensor was not in the best position and that they have moved it. He moved our sensor to the new location and we have not had a problem since.
Thankyou

Further to my previous question. Does the Rinnai Ultima II require a Condensate Trap fitted to the flue?
Hi Fred,

Rinnai Ultima II console flued. Professionally installed in 2008. Noticed water stains on the ceiling where flue exits the roof. Found that a very small amount of water was dripping from a joint in the pipe before it exits the roof. Checked roof flashing around flue pipe, all OK. Only happens when heater is in operation. If I seal this joint will the water (obviously created from the gas combustion) run down the flue back into the heater or will it be evaporated when it gets closer to the heater temperature (the Ultima II flue does not get anywhere nearly as hot compared to the previously installed Vulcan Burwood heater!).
Hi Fred,
Thanks for the question, we would recommend contacting our Technical Department to discuss this matter further. They can be reached on 1300 555 545 (option 3).

I have just installed a Rinnai Ultima 2 and I am wondering if there is only one heat setting? I have a normal sized lounge room and it takes literally hours to get warm. I set the temp at 25 and it has never gotten above 20. I can't seem to find any reference in the manual to heat settings except a reference to H and L but those do not appear on my heater's screen. would appreciate any guidance thank you
Hi Peter,
We would recommend talking to our technical team on 1300 555 545 option 3, They can run through the operation of the heater with you.
Thanks Rinnai Australia
Well after reading all these reviews, I was about to buy this particular heater and it looks like I will be giving it a miss.
Honestly, given the chance , l would never go near this heater. Smart move.
I purchased a Rinnai Ultimate II heater vis some loyalty points program. It is a Flued Space Heater. The mistake was mine, not Rinnais.
We do not have a fireplace or similar, so it would be effectively an indoor heater. So I have been frightened to turn it on. It is near a window, so if it came with exhaust pipes or similar, I could kind of rig it up to pump the fumes mostly outside. It does suggest on the label on the side it is indoor/outdoor. I did read if there is too much poisonous fumes coming into the house, it turns off. I would appreciate some advice on what I can or can’t do in this situation. If there are suitable exhaust pipes then I’d prefer to buy them, than quietly fall asleep never to wake up. Please advise. It is still in its plastic wrapping, never been used, but it came via a loyalty program so the effort required to return it would probably be massive. Thank you.
Hi Cold, Thanks for the question. The Ultima II heater is a flued space heater and must be installed by a qualified gas fitter. A flue will be required and the installer can recommend the best options for you depending on where you wish to install the heater.
This type of heater cannot just be switched on out of the box.

Rinnai Ultima 11 Flued Space Heater Model REH-311FT(B) - Inbuilt The plumber/gas filter who installed the heater told me the heater draws oxygen from the room and that I should not close the door to the lounge while the heater is operating. I live in a 70 year old home that has wall vents in each room. Two vents in the lounge room. I can see daylight through the vents which means I have cold air coming into the lounge 24/7. I would like to block the vents off but I'm concerned about what the plumber said about the heater needing fresh air to operate. Can anyone help please?
Hi Jestnan,
Adequate ventilation is required for the heater to operate, we would recommend calling our technical help desk on 1300 555 545 option 3 who can confirm the safest oprion for you.

My ultimate ll has no power to start it does it have a battery if so how do I change it
No batteries that l know off, and lve had to have quite a lot replaced on mine. Only electricity is by plugin wall cord.
Hi Carolyn F, thanks for the question. There is no battery for the Ultima II heater, power is supplied through the power cord on the unit. We would recommend testing the power point with another appliance if you can, otherwise a service call may be required.
You can book via the Rinnai Australia website here:

Like Kylie O. a month ago, where can I get a copy of a REH-301FTB manual? I have been searching online without success. Thanks
Hi Rick, thanks for the question, we have sent you a private message so we can send a copy of the manual.
thanks Rinnai Australia
I was thinking of purchasing a Ultima 11 I like the look of it, but it seems most of the reviews are negative, I guess I should look for something else?
From personal experience yes, about every 2 years it is costing me money, combustion fan again has just been fixed, at a cost of $600, and heater is only 6 years old. First fan was a little after only being 2 years old, just after warranty expired.
Thank you Steve,I think I will do some more researching, a different brand probably
Hi Fran52, Thanks for the question, the Ulitma II has been a successful product for many years where we have sold 10,000’s of these heaters. Like most products there maybe issues from time to time. These products are fully backed with warranty so if there is ever an issue the product is covered. For best peace of mind it’s important that these types of products are installed by a licensed tradesman.
Thanks, Rinnai Australia.
Except warranty was only 2 years, and thats when l started having issues. Two years for such a great heater that cost a considerable amount to purchase. And thank you rinnai for your emails contacting me that basically said because work wasnt done by service agent ( we all dont live in major cities and cant wait a month to get heater fixed in middle of winter), although it was done by guy who was your service agent here for over 20 years, and warranty had just expired, badluck, no further replies. Is it really acceptable to be paying 600-700 for combustion fans on this model every few years?
Why can I not find a manual for a REH-301FTB?
Hi Kylie O,
The REH-301FTB is the Ultima heater and has been discontinued for a number of years.
We can arrange for a copy to be emailed to you and we will send a private message so you can send us your email address.
Thanks Rinnai Australia
Hi Kylie O, Did you receive a copy of the manual for the REH-301FTB as a PDF? If so are you able to forward it on if I provide my email address? thanks
I would like to know how to turn the timer off. My sister keeps pushing buttons whenever I leave the room. Can anyone help please?
The instruction book is online external link

I must have been having a blonde moment, couldn’t work it out. So, I just turned the power off for about 10 secs. Voila, all fixed. Thanks for the help.
I desperately need the combined gas inlet union/copper elbow that connects the heater to the gas line. I'm trying to find one, because my local gas fitter tells me rennai parts for the REH-300 FTC are impossible to find. The model also seems to go by the name of 'high efficiency 30'. Any alternative inlet elbows that would fit, or even the spec. so I could get one fabricated would be great. Thanks!
