Terrible products & customer service Have purchased a pair of boots & within 12 months my big toe broke through they replaced them only for the 2nd pair to start doing the same thing but they didn't want to know about it had to take them to a boot… Read more
maker to put a patch of leather on the inside to stop it happening now the leather is pealing not good for a $695 pair of boots. Also i was given a belt as present but it is one size to big & they won't swap it because they say it has a kink in it when i only wore it once
Follow-up · The boots just started peeling done nothing out of the ordinary The boots are a perfect fit they were fitted in store by the manager of the store The belt was stored on a belt hanger
Bought a pair of boots on 17/04/2026. Sole of both boots seems to be faulty. I realized this after 4 times wearing them. Took them back after 3 weeks of purchase on 12/05/2026 to Emporium store as I live far away from city. Got told that the Manager is not in store and sent me to Melbourne Central Store. After visiting Melbourne central store the… Read more
staff were talking between themselves saying why the Emporium store sent me there when they knew that we don't have manager either. So asked to visit Emporium store on Thursday as the manager will be back. I called on Thursday and spoken to the Manager, she asked me to visit again. I visited the store again on the 17/05/2026. I got told by staff again the Manager is not here and they can't do anything. After looking at the soles of both boots,. The guy said that leave the boots and we will get this repaired and let you know to come and pick it up. Customer paid $700 for a pair of boots not to get it repaired after 4 wears. This is not the type of customer service someone expect after paying huge amount for the boots. Very appalled with the quality and service. First and last time for me with kind of service and poor quality.
And response was that this is normal on every RM Williams Boots. Buy a cracked sole for $700 and then send it for a repair.

My son gave me an R. M. Williams belt, for my birthday, as he knows I love their gear. After I wore this belt though, I found it was just cheaply made and of poor quality. Firstly I have a few belts for my 38cm waist....this was by far the shortest, of any of them. The belt had three holes, for rivets to hold it together, but they only put two… Read more
rivets in. The rivets were the wrong length (too long)and stuck up, above the leather. This means the leather gets jammed on a rivet head, when pushed through the metal fitting. Now are the mighty fallen !

I am writing to share a serious issue with a pair of R.M. Williams boots purchased for my son in September 2022 from the QVB store in Sydney, at a cost of approximately $700. The purchase was made based on R.M. Williams’ long-standing reputation and its marketing of these boots as premium, durable, long-lasting products. Unfortunately, that… Read more
expectation has not been met.
After approximately one year of normal wear, the rubber soles deteriorated and required replacement. While disappointing, this was not the primary concern. More significantly, both boots have since developed large tearsin the leather uppers themselves. Structural failure of the leather within three years is plainly inconsistent with reasonable expectations for a premium leather boot.
My son recently returned the boots to the George Street flagship store for assessment and was advised that R.M. Williams does not provide a warranty and that the damage was attributed to customer fault. This explanation is both surprising and concerning. The boots have not been subjected to misuse or abnormal wear.
Under Australian Consumer Law, goods must be of acceptable quality, including being durable, free from defects, and fit for purpose, having regard to their price and any representations made. A premium leather boot marketed as long-lasting should reasonably endure well beyond three years without the leather itself failing.
The dismissal of this issue without meaningful investigation or remediation is inconsistent with these statutory consumer guarantees, which apply regardless of any stated warranty policy.
Given the nature of the defect, the short service life, and the price paid, I consider these boots to have failed acceptable quality standards. This experience raises serious concerns about product quality and after-sales support for a brand positioned at the premium end of the market.
As a long-time R.M. Williams customer, this experience has been deeply disappointing. Based on this outcome, I would not recommend these boots to others and will not be making future purchases.
Quality is worse than garbage and service is worse! This pair of comfort craftsman blew apart within 12 months and the first time I took them back to Salisbury for repair they said that it was a manufacturing fault and repaired free of charge, this is now the second time in 3 years and I'm told it's because they are "worn'" and it isn't a fault… Read more
this time. Trying to slug me $285 for a repair. For a $650 pair of boots you're better off buying several pairs of blundtstones or another brand. Plenty of reviews and videos of how terrible the quality is now compared to 20yrs ago. I love to support Aussie made but this is just garbage now.

So much for 'lifetime' quality products – my leather duffle bag is falling apart after only 4 years of light use. The inside is flaking and peeling constantly and goes over everything I put inside it. Customer support refuses to offer any sort of repair service. The best they could offer after weeks of back and forth was half price off a brand new duffle bag which I declined because i don't want to pay 400-500 bucks for a product that's only going to last 4 years. Attended the Bondi Junction Store with my 20+ year old Craftsman, I needed new elastic and a soles. The boots have served me very well. the quote price was given the boots were repaired and I collected the following week. Simple. It was not cheap, but I suspect I shall have the shoes for another 30+ years. Show details
An outstanding shopping experience with Raj and the team at the St George’s Terrace store in Perth. They were knowledgeable, patient, and went the extra mile to help two of us find the right sizing and boots — handling an exchange seamlessly along the way. Premium products matched by equally premium service. We did hit a small hiccup with the TRS… Read more
(GST refund) process as overseas purchasers — through no fault of the store — but a quick call back to Raj and team and they helped us navigate and resolve an opaque Border Force requirement straight away. That kind of follow-through is exactly why in-person retail matters.
The people here truly match the quality of the product — highly recommended all round. A benchmark for how retail experiences should be. Many global brands could learn a thing or two from this team.
“Lina and her team at the Newmarket store provided me with incredible service and resolved the issue immediately. Lina was professional from start to finish, and I 100% recommend this great team—especially Lina!” Miguel

After fighting cancer for the past two years, many surgeries and treatments, my wife bought me a $369.00 crocodile skin belt for my birthday to cheer me up. We needed to take it back as it was the wrong size on the 7th Dec. I was told 5 days but it arrived on the 23rd. OK that's fine and I understand delays and I received 3 emails ( one from… Read more
Auspost and 2 from R.M.Willams) saying my belt had arrived and is ready for pick up. I go in to pick it up and am told by two ladies that I should have waited for a call (which was never stated in any of the emails, and the call ) as it is down stairs and they can't go down and pick it up. They were very aggressive and belittling in their manner especially one of the ladies and purposely made me feel like an idiot. They then decided to make me wait till after Christmas to make the phone call to come and pick it up. To purposely belittle someone to make themselves feel better is disgusting, if your having a bad day don't take it out on the customers. From looking at the reviews I can see I am not the only one to be poorly treated in this store. Go anywhere, but DO NOT shop at R.M.Williams Southland. They do not care about their customers even though the customers are what keep the shop open. I will never ware or shop R.M.Williams ever again after the treatment I received from these two women. Disgraceful
RM WILLIAMS As a professional pilot, I have recommended RM Williams to colleagues around the world for many years. For that reason, I am extremely disappointed with my recent experience. I placed an order in good faith and paid $849 for a pair of boots. After waiting over a month with no communication, I was required to contact RM Williams to… Read more
track the order. I was then informed that the order had effectively been overlooked and that the boots were no longer available.
A day or two later, I was advised that the order would be cancelled and a refund issued. At the time of writing this complaint, more than two weeks have passed since the refund was processed, and six weeks have elapsed since the original order was placed, yet the funds have still not been received. This experience reflects poorly on customer service and order management—particularly for a brand positioned as premium. I expected significantly better service, communication, and accountability from RM Williams.
As a result, I will be reconsidering my loyalty going forward.
Why does a simple thing like purchasing a belt has to be turned into frustrating experience by your passive aggressive staff! If an item is out of stock it’s up to you to restock it not hold customer to ransom! Really nice products but shocking customer service! Show details

Bought 1 pair in chestnut that have been OK (not great)... But also bought a black pair in the same size. 1st pair had a defect that resulted in a sharp object in the lining rubbing (until it bled) within minutes of wearing. Had these replaced under warranty after only 1 wear. The second pair were slightly better, however the sizing differs too… Read more
much and after about 3 wears the sizing has changed and they are now unwearable as the toe area has shrunk and is now too tight on my toes. Strange how the black boots are different sizing to the brown....despite marked the same. Frustrating. Wouldn't recommend at all.
The most disappointing, and most expensive experience of my life! I got a pair from the new collection as I decided to invest in high quality boots that will serve me for years. After trying to break the boots in for 4 weeks and giving the product a chance., I only found out they're completely unwearable. causing a lot of pain and discomfort. Emailed the customer service twice. Zero interest in their customers. I'll try calling them this week.
Got a. Oxford long sleeve shirt, collar was to high up the neck. Poor tailoring. Got an email Williams t-shirt for $70. Only to check the label at home made in Vietnam. What a ripoff. RM Williams will go broke just like Colorado selling expensive big brand names made in third world nations. Show details
I bought a pair of RM Williams boots several years ago and the person who served me fitted in boots that ended up being too small. He insisted that the boots were the right size for me, and they would “wear in, in time.” Even though they felt snug I took his word believing they would wear in, but no, they never did and always hurt my feet. unfortunately brought them back for exchange after the 60 day limit and they would not change them, despite having little wear. I also like other reviewers found the quality of the product is not what they were in previous boots I have bought from them in the past. They feel like a pair of $300 boots you pay $600 for. I’m done with RMs because of poor service and poor quality and intend to try Wootten boots next.
Can I leave a minus 10 review my wife brought a $150 dollar belt from them for me at Christmas it has been worn around 12 times in total and the tanning / dye is peeling off. (holes are closer to the buckle the peeling is at the other end of the belt. Played for a fool by two young so clever stooges BUt as soon as I said to one that perhaps if he did some exercise he might have to add some holes too Oh no its ok to make fun of an old man but not for the old man to fire back at them, Sorry RM is now a has been relying on its former reputation for people like me from the bush. In comparison I brought a pair of shoes from Florsheim and it ended up they did not fit I took them back a month later and they exchanged them sadly the next pair same thing and they exchanged them too Now this is what I call service and RM is a sad parody of what used to be a great company would I buy from them again never would I recommend them no not even to my worst enemy. Want a belt buy a rivers want shoes Florsheim want a baseball had buy nike
I had the most amazing experience in the Sydney store. I went in planning to buy one pair of boots but ended up buying two pairs. This was several months ago now - the boots have worn in beautifully - incredible craftsmanship, super comfotable and the store experience felt really special. Show details
Shoes are around 5 yrs old but I have an older pair as well. The soles just fell apart despite not being used that much. I clean the boots with RM Williams polish but wasn’t expecting the soles to completely fall off on the section under the bales of the feet on both shoes. with customer service and they are about as much use as a chocolate fire guard. They indicated it’s normal for a shoe sole to wear out in a couple of years but my sole is not worn out just came completely unstuck. The quality doesn’t match the cost and in the end the brand will lose out. I’ve had to pay for a repair before the shop will send them for review. As expected they just resolved them and sent me a tax receipt. A business like RM Williams is amongst the first to complain when we buy imports but I’ve had other brands I wear day to day last better than these. I won’t be back to them again. Customer service is clearly only a sentence full of words but no action to follow through. Poor service and poor quality from a brand that looks like it’s losing its branding of old.
I've owned my shoes for close to 6 months now. I've been wearing them Monday-Friday 9am to 5pm and have some poor experiences with them. First of all that squeak when I walk. I feel different parts of my feet rubbing on the leather interior and squeaking and if I have been in the heat and my feet have sweat at all, the squeaking gets very loud. … Read more
Second I find the back of my heals to feel a bit raw after wearing them. I wrote this off as the shoes being new, but now 6 months later they still just rub the back of my feet the wrong way. The leather folds are creates a point on the inside of the back of the shoes which pushes itself into my achilles. Some of the stiching on the stretchable fabric sides is visibly wearing with strands of thread up to 2mc dangling off the shoe. I have had to trim these back already but I fear for how long the sewing can hold on for.
For the $699 that I paid this is just a really sub par experience and I wouldn't recommend these shoes to anyone I know. My previous pair of shoes were $140 similar looking brown slide on boots and they lasted me almost 7 years before the soles completely gave out. They were slightly uncomfortable a month or two after purchasing, but I never even noticed them, on my feet for the 6 years after that.
If this is a sizing issue, that does not save my review as the customer experience I had was very subpar and unable to actually help me with sizing after trying on 6 different sizes. It's not like I've never bought a pair of shoes before and had to choose my size..
Poor quality control - irregular sizing – After carefully trying many different pairs in store, I settled on 11G for a perfect fit. I bought 2 pairs online (the store would not price match online sales so I was glad not to give them a cent), one from Gooleys (great service) and one from Assefs (also great service). The one from Gooleys fit as expected - perfect. The one form Assefs gave… Read more
very quickly and now feels like a fully size too large! The size was exactly the same for both pairs. This massive variance has left me perplexed - my options are limited and I am now looking at insole options, which I really wanted to avoid. At $600-700 a pair, I find it unacceptable to have such a difference in sizing, notwithstanding the fact that they are handmade and that a small variance is to be somehow expected. How I wish we had easy access to other European and American Goodyear welted boots here in Oz.

Abysmal client service – RM Williams double charged me at it's Queen Street store. For a simple belt purchase there were 2 people involved in the transaction and they still got it wrong. 3 months later and after many discussions with "[Name Removed]" the issue remains unresolved. Avoid this company- it's client service is abysmal
Excellent quality shirt but slightly small fit – Bought a Collins Shirt in white with Navy Pinstripe. Made in Madagascar. Good quality in every way except that the Regular fit is on the slim side of regular in the body of the shirt. Not sure if all versions of the Collins shirt are the same but if you like your shirts to be roomy around your stomach go up a size. Nice quality cotton and has a chest pocket. Would be 5 star if it was as roomy as usual regular fit shirts around the stomach.

Frustrating – I sent my Craftsman boots to be serviced (~$250) from the Perth city store. The right boot came back very tight. I could no longer wear the right boot for a full day without pain. or their Whatsapp service. I am still yet to get a response over 2 weeks after messaging them. I phoned their customer service number who went on to say that their service is slow and they are dealing with a back log of calls. The Perth city store ended up calling me with their solution being to send the boots back to the service centre for what may be a 3 week to 8 week period. Their other solution was to keep conditioning the boot every second day to stretch them. This is my second pair of RM Craftsman's and the 3rd time I've had boots serviced through RM's. For a premium boot, and premium service costs (I'm my opinion) the service has been poor and I won't be buying these boots again. If conditioning these boots (even after a month of wearing them) doesn't work, I'll be selling them and moving to a different brand.
My 3rd pair and never buying again – 3rd pair of comfort craftsman and NEVER again. After 12 months sole starts to come apart on 1 boot. Service is slow and cumbersome. At the $650 price tag, quality isn’t what it should be. My next boots will be Rossi at half the price and equally looks great. Show details
POOR Customer Service – Bought a pair of Boots from their Store here in Brisbane. Boots on and off, and generally require the assistance of someone to help me, as they are tight, beyond comprehension! I have been to their Stores, and in getting nowhere touched base with them directly. Well, what a waste of time, they want to stretch my Boots and at a cost, which I disagree to pay. I have since been into a Store and had my sizing done again and consequently tried on her selection, which fitted amazingly wonderful lets say, easy on and off, and snug. I asked her if I can try on the size that I already had, she replied that would be too small, and we tried anyway, I struggled to get it on, consequently proving to myself that I was originally advised incorrectly. Now my point is, not the quality of the Boot, I honestly couldn't say at this point in time if it would last or not, as I have stopped wearing them, it's with them not backing up their mistake, which is very obvious to me, they made one, poorly trained Staff possibly. Also they certainly take their time in getting back to you, again, another bad mark in my book. I have a Company, and would bend over backwards to get this right, the facts are there, so much for Customer satisfaction, out the door with this mob, absolutely terrible service, shameful.
Used to be a good Australian product – I purchased a pair from the Claremont R.M.Williams store recently and have returned them today, the sole has a different height to the heel and one of the shoes appears to be tighter/smaller so blisters on one foot. told by the manager that I will have to wait a couple of months to get them rectified and insinuated the insoles could be taken out however the shoe would be too big, the manager recently sold me the shoe. It is a shame my last rm’s bought in the city 10 years ago were brilliant and the city staff were fantastic. I will not be buying another pair again, there are very good Brazilian crafted shoes I will be going back to, they are also half the price. The after service care is poor and the shoes have been poorly made. Waste of time…
