Saxon 48L Portable Garden Carts Questions & Answers
How do I put the wheels on please
How do you get the wheels off the cart? I need to put them on a new cart top(the same kind) Thank you in advance.
How to assemble cart, how do the wheels go on.
1. First pass the axle through the two raised spigots under the base of the cart. They can be a tight fit. 2. Center the axle so there is equal amounts of the axle on each side. 3. slide the wheels onto the axle with the hubcap side facing out. (Don't put the hubcaps on at this stage.) 4. screw a nut on the threaded section of each side of the axle by hand. 5. Using the supplied black plastic spanners tighten each nut until the wheels still turn freely. You may need a pair of pliers or something else to stop the axle from turning while tightening the nuts. 6. attach the hubcaps by tapping with a piece of wood or your fist. (this step is optional). Do not be surprised if the wheels rub against the wheel arches as these carts are poorly designed and the wheels are too big.
Thank you. I just put the wheels on and wondered what the 2 black things were, they are presently sitting in between the assembled cart. I thought they looked like spanners but then thought that usually manufacturers don’t include spanners especially two of them. Now I just have to disassemble the cart and take the spanners off that are dangling, lol. Females! ah? Lol. Thanks again.
I too thought like you. I thought the spanners may have been some kind of offset spacer. Then I thought maybe a spanner, but why 2 of them? Hence why I'm here after googling the process.... not sure if I should blame my female gender or my old age. But it's all done now.... Thanks to the information provided here.
Same here. Didn’t know what they were.
Same. Best laugh I've had for a while. "What are these 2 extra things??" Spanners! Lucky for online instructions. I feel as proud as if I'd assembled the Endeavour Spacecraft!
Hi there I just asked a question above just wondering if you can help me with it. Thank you heaps.
Thank you, Johnm80, appreciate your easy to understand directions!
Hahaha! I'm here for the same reason and I too thank Johnm80 and laugh about the 2 spanners. I'm female but I'm usually very clever at mechanics and sorts, but the two spanners didn't add up, hahaha, laughing at Gabby's comment about feeling as proud as if she had assembled the Endeavour Spaceship.
There are two spanners so that one holds the axle still while tightening the nut on the other wheel. Without the 'holding spanner' the wheels and axle spin.
how to remove label
What label are you talking about
Haha, this is a joke? The stick on label, you just pull it off.
It's very sticky. Eucaliptus oil works wonders
After figuring out the black things where spanners and me and mum LOAO at the comments here. We got out the wet news paper, scraper blade. Tried a scara and eucalyptus oil and eventually got out the sand paper. Looks as good as new. Few scratches and a bit of a grey green patch but hey! We got the wheels on. And now I have a couple of extra plastic spanners in me tool box
how to assemble 48L cart
What are the 2 plastic spanners for

To put the wheels on
Do you make smaller ones for children and if so where can I buy one please
How do I put the wheels on the 48 Litre Garden Tub and what and where do the black plastic bits go?
I don't remember but I don't think it was too hard. It should have come with instructions, Try tapping them on each side of the spindle thing? Or better still take back and get a refund that's my advice!
Thank you. I'm taking it back today. I tried all ways with those bits but nothing worked.
Two black plastic parts are spanners ( tools ) to put the cart wheels together hold one side and tighten the other side. Hope this helps you
Thanks. I eventually worked it out. Much appreciated.
Can wheels be replaced on 48l garden cart 1 has come off?
My Saxon 48l cart kept falling over all the time so I took it to the Tip. So cant help much...…. try Bunnings.
There are a range of wheels for carts and barrows available both on eBay and from Bunnings. I don't know this particular cart so firstly have a close look at the wheel and axle if it has one. If you can remove the plastic plate which covers the middle of the wheel you can get an idea of what type wheel you need as replacement, if using the original axle it will need to be the same size wheel. Alternately remove both wheels and use the old cart as a patio planter pot and buy another - very cheap at the moment from Bunnings.
How do you put wheels on saxon multipurpose 2 wheel cart? Are black plastic things spanners or do they help cart balance
cant remember wasn't hard I do know that.....I took mine to the rubbish tip early on (kept tipping over) not a good product better off spending a few bob more & getting a garden trolley with pneumatic wheels that's my advice.
