Sharp French Door SJXE Series (Inverter)

Bought nearly 3 years ago - Fridge completely failing – Fridge is cutting out. No indication if it is actually working. It started making lots and lots of noise about 6 months ago, now it's very quiet- probably because it's actually not working. Woke up to find the cooling and freezing wasn't working at all. All food had to be thrown out. Sharp isn't interesting in helping at all as it is 6 months out of warranty. Constant fan noise – I have had this fridge for almost 4 weeks (received August 2018). much extra power it might be consuming).

Sharp sent a tech from the local service agent who (promptly) came and adjusted the door gap thinking it was a temperature issue. Problem did not go away. I rang Sharp and questioned a technical person as to whether the constant running of the fan was normal and he said it wasn't.

Back in touch with the service agent and they now tell me the constant running is normal (so conflicting information)....and that I am only noticing it because my house is very quiet!! (not a very well thought out response considering I have lived with the same background noise level for some time and never had an issue with my old fridge).

Back on to the Good Guys (being very helpful) now to try and get this resolved.

I like the fridge features and style however, if the constant noise is not resolved, I will be requesting a return and possible alternate brand if the constant noise is regarded as normal.

Perfect fridge – Probably the best fridge my household has ever had. I love the 4 doors it makes it so easy to get what you want. Especially the freezer section. Being short the fridges with the deep freezer draws are not ideal for me, so this fridge having two door freezer compartments is perfect. also the main fridge section has a mirror at the back meaning you can see all your food, this is a great idea and makes it easy to see food hidden in the back. There is more than enough space in this fridge, yet at the same time it physically doesn't take up too much room.

The noise is pretty quiet, I sometimes hear it from the living room but usually you don't even notice its there. At first I noticed the fridge section wasn't keeping food as cold as my old fridge however now it seems to be fine.

Only downside is the panel on the front doesn't seem to display anything. Either I haven't read the booklet well enough or there's not meant to be anything there.

happy with how it performs. It looks good and the glossy effect on the stainless steel keeps it fingerprint resistant and smart looking. The doors seem to be designed that so they won't slam, but what it means is that if you try to swing them closed they half close and then open wide again. They need to be closed firmly. However the few times I didn't do this the fridge beeped and let me know there was a door open which is a feature I really like, and I quickly learned to close them firmly. There is no permanent temperature on display to keep an eye on. It is noisier than previous fridge/freezers that I've owned. I am certainly aware of it at times as our house is open plan, but not to the nuisance level that others have found. It does make a dripping noise at times which has had me searching for leaks, but it seems to be just one of the range of sounds it makes.

Fridge:

I like the fact that I can open both the French doors for easy cleaning and rearranging, but I can still open just one side to remove or put things in.

The temperature is consistent.

Lots of storage in the doors.

Good size fridge shelves

BUT

I can't stand beverage bottles upright on the fridge shelves, so I just have to hope and pray that the lids have good seals on them when I lie them down - this is a significant oversight in the fridge design.

Freezer:

The freezer drawers open and close easily and it's easy to find things.

This model has ice trays rather than an ice maker and it makes the ice well and the trays are easy to turn and empty into the tray.

Temperature is consistent.

i never knew our old fridge was so ordinary – Things i love about this fridge. I can put large platers in. the double doors is the best design for economy and ease. The ice maker is sooooo easy, elegant and takes up little room and i can take out half in winter. Good quality draws. Great having two door freezer with draws down the bottom. (the best design!) Bad quality Stainless Steel facade subject to rust – We purchased this fridge on the recommendation of a salesman at Harvey Norman Cairns November 2016. Customer Care division Tempo. 4 weeks later no response so we rang and hung on for a response. After considerable delay we were told Sharp would do nothing as the problem was cosmetic and because of poor care. We have a 12 year older Samsung fridge of similar size which shared the same conditions and there is no rust. This fridge looks on the outside ready for the tip. We would strongly discourage anyone from purchasing a Sharp refrigerator.

Extremely noisy, died a few months past the 2 year warranty – Crisper-lid broke within weeks, Sharp replaced it. Good fridge, crappy accessories – All of the inserts are made of this brittle, crappy, cheap plastic that cracks. When you ring up their customer care number they refuse to replace them (within warranty mind you) and send you a price list. ^%$#^&**&%^%$ I say. I've lost two door inserts within 2 years. Make a fridge with parts that don't crack with normal use for crying out loud. And back your customers up with decent service. Show details

When I called Harvey Norman they said I need to contact Sharp myself which I did. After numerous calls and emails back and forth they have said - it is normal for the refrigerator to make noise, as per the Operation manual. I have never heard of a fridge to make a constant sound before. I thought Sharp was meant to be a reputable brand. The last conversation I had they said a manager would call us back. We are still waiting and are externally disappointed! I wish I had found this site before we bought as other customers say it is noisy too.

Dents in the doors – The fridge runs well and fits nicely into our fridge cavity. HOWEVER, a few months after purchase we noticed dents in both the top doors. two top replacement door shells. They did not replace the full doors, just the outside of the doors. No dents. Now 6 months later each corner of the top doors has a dent. We are so careful, it has to be the pressure from the inside of the cabinet v the outside air pressure. Does anyone else have this problem When the original doors were taken off the rep. told us to push on them to see how easily they might dent. No way, they were very quite sturdy and could not be dented by pushing on them. It is obviously a design fault.

Well Done Sharp

Very noisy – Have just bought this fridge & can't stand the loud noise it goes from a loud hum to constantly running it only stops when the doors are opened. We've never had a fridge this noisy. I turn up the TV at night so I can't hear it. We bought this model because of the stylish look and solid shelves but I wish they had fridges turned on in the shops so you can hear the motor running before purchasing.  Show details

Practicality – Love the freezer separate sections and like the draws in fridge although there is an extra cold draw which does freeze the bottom of some foods The only problem I find is the fridge Is a little deceptive with the space ; it’s quite small not deep enough for jugs to stand up or accommodate large casserole or salad bowls There is a taller one if I had seen the alternative I would have bought instead for e tra fridge space as had the room  Show details

Interesting Problem – I today received the Sharp SJXE624FSL that i purchase from The Good Guys. Seems to run quiet, temp control good, but one interesting thing happens when either fridge door is opened and the light comes on. Our TV loses signal and once the fridge doors are closed the signal returns to the TV. Wondering if there is a fault that only happens when the doors or lights are on. Quite Good – We recently purchased SJXE624FSL fridge from Good Guys. Quite happy with overall space and performance. However have following concerns: 1. Top front doors are misaligned and I could not get them to align. I could get the bottom ones in alignment though. 2. Perfect fridge – This French door fridge is brilliant. Loads of space as the shelving adjusts and the freezer part isn’t one big bucket like most , it has shelves and is so much better to access. Can't find any bad thing about this – This fridge is unbelievable. The design of the fridge is just perfect. Veggie compartment holds the veggie for a very long time without them going off. Great fridge – I am really happy with my recent purchase of this fridge. I had read it was noisy, however I haven’t found this at all. It is well set out, easy to see everything in the fridge. I did find the 3 degree setting a little too cold, so I have turned it up to 4 degrees to see how that is. The lighting in the fridge is great too. Our perfect first brand new fridge ever! – We like Japan product brand because the quality is very good. It has been 1 year now and no problems at all. The temperature is always cold inside the fridge and it does not take long to freeze ice blocks or other stuff in the freezer. Very easy to adjust the temperature and to clean up. Perfect! – Was bit suspicious on this fridge before purchasing due to the online review of the awful motor noise. But once it turned up and spin,Jes that was Silent ,so for me the rumor is not existed. Its okayy – It can get quite loud but the four compartments come in very handy! I love the handles and it maintains a consistent temperature in all four compartments. The price is alright but I have since found cheaper/more efficient fridges by bigger brands such as Samsung or LG! by using the drawers. It makes for great organisation. It makes some random noises but it’s not loud at all. All fridges make these noises.

Great fridge – Awesome fridge, great quality, LEDs lights are very nice and the temperature is being kept perfectly. What a beauty! – Beautiful french door!, huge capacity, I love how it keeps the cold air in the fridge and the draws for the freezer keeps the cold air inside the compartment, so you are actually not losing out much cold air. I noticed that someone said this is noisy, but I didn't think it is loud, it sometimes makes sound, but I would assume that is normal for a fridge this size.
