I'm trying to use a twin needle. The manual is useless; says to move the stitch width to the twin needle position but there's no indication of what/where that is. Also says 'Twin needle is only active when the twin needle switch is lit' - where is that?? So I decided to just have a go and it sort of works but is bunching up the material so that it makes a ridge; the zigzag on the back won't sit flat. I'm using ball-point needles on stretchy fabric.

any idea as to how to adjust the feed dog? it is not feeding and appears to be too low

littleblackbird
littleblackbird

As far as I know, the feed dog is either up or down, ie: engaged or not engaged. There is a slide switch at the rear, behind the sewing plate. See page 12 of Instruction booklet. What the booklet doesnt tell you though is that there are things NOT to do, as I found out and my feed dog 'thingo' slipped off inside the machine. I rang Singer Australia and a lovely man called Donald talked me through how to locate and re engage it. (this was all during Covid lockdowns)...

Why does the button hole start in different position its not consistent ? example some times it moves forward 1cm other times it moves 5mm to start. Making buttonholes looking uneven.

Do you have your button set into the buttonhole attachment for the correct sizing?

Lynda S.

has anyone ever had their machine stuck in reverse?

littleblackbird
littleblackbird

Sorry no, but my feed dogs were stuck down only this week and a really helpful service man from Singer Australia talked me through fixing it over the phone! It turns out you can't manually lift them or you slip the rod out. Whoopsy. Call Singer....

My machine recently got stuck in reverse. I took it to a repair place and they said it is something to do with the computer board and quite expensive to fix. As I only paid $140 for it 2nd hand a few years ago, I have decided it is not worth fixing. They did initially tell me it may just be a spring, so hopefully that's what your problem is. Good luck!

Machine does not sew. I get this code C2 on when I apply other stitches except for button hole stitch. Any help?

Hey Lee there is a manual guide of that, I’m sure it has needle down function, I’m sorry if I’m wrong you can do What I had to do when I was stuck, was learn all the machine manual operation through their manual book, call The distributor where I purchased my singer learn it all from YouTube!, or calling singer costumer service centre when i was stuck do the buttons hole, I called Them to find out of do the buttons loop, there’s the guy that patiently guides me for the machine operation process

Don't rely on just Singer tutorials. Most of my own questions have been answered accidentally by off hand comments by the tutors. The lever on the left side of the shank, don't forget that. None of the tutorials actually tell you to thread the thread through the needle hole in the button hole foot. A lot of people use stabilizer and then there is the needle. And then there is the dreaded cleaning under the plate (I don't ever remember cleaning my old clunkers, but computers are sensitive) Don't know if this is any help. Trust me..... I feel you frustration.

I don't know what part of the bottom sew are you struggling with. Make sure the arm in the back is drawn down as the indicator and support of the attachment. Did you receive the cd that came with the machine.

The tension keeps changing randomly...I was halfway thru a pair of childrens pants and it was fine then suddenly went stupid. I've tried the tension dial but no use. I'm very frustrated.

Try and rethread the entire machine. Clean out around and under the bobbin and case. Those tiny bits of fluff cause so much trouble. Makes a lot of difference. I hope this works for you. I feel your frustration. (Just unpicked an embroidery 3 times, on a towel ).

Adjust top tention if its to loose Top tention 1/2 or 1 nr lower. Continue testing on scrap material Bobbin adjusting is also important. Right little screw turn tight to hold Turn left tight and turn little bit loose by 1mil. The bobbin tention can cause to brake aswell Sometimes the bobbin screw get loose when sewing. Re threading. Quality thread Can unscrew plate to check for thread buildup or dust.

Pls reply if you tried everything.
