Sirius SL906-L Excel Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedHello, Can somebody please tell me if the Sirius SL906L 85cm can still be installed with the motor fitted remotely inside the ceiling space ? Or Do they now come with the motor fixed inside the actual hood ? Thank you
Hi Drew, Thanks for contacting us, the model you are referring to is the SL906 EM-L 850 or the new model coming out the SL906EMEL850. This has an external motor we have 3 different types of motors that work with this range hood, the SEM1, SEM2 and SEM 5. The one that can be installed inside the roof cavity is the SEM1.
If you are wanting an onboard rangehood (where the motor sits inside) that is the SL906L850 or the new SL906DL850.
Thanks!
Regards,
Emma

Does the SL906L EXCEL850 – 85cm Twin Motor Undermount Hood have the motor inside?
Hi N d'Cruz, Correct, this is an onboard rangehood, meaning the twin motors are inside the hood itself. Regards
Thank you! This helps.
Hello, what is the dB rating of the SL906L850 please - the onboard motor model Thank you
Hi Carmonzo,
the dB rating is 58db on boost. However, individual installations will vary the dB rating, depending on acoustics and size of the room it may be slightly quieter or louder.

Greetings
Is there a minimum distance the fan motor needs to be away from the hood when installing? We have a 2metre run to external mount site. Is that sufficient?
Hi Andy,
Please contact our Technical Team on 1300 762 219 to confirm if the 2 meters is sufficient.
Is there anyone who sells the Sirius Range Hoods in New Zealand?
Hi, we have the SL906EXCEL850 range hood, which we installed in Aug 2015 and after reading all these lovely reviews I have to say we are nothing but disappointed with our purchase. It doesn't seem to extract a great deal and is very noisy. Have even been considering looking at an alternative. Would appreciate some advice. Regards Lisa
if the range hood is noisy and has poor extraction. have a look at where and how the ducting has been installed ( bear in mind less bends the better). does the ducting have an exit point? avoid using flexible foil ducting, they vibrate causing it to be noisy
what size/typeof ducting is needed with Sirius units? Our builder says he can't fit the Quasair ducting in our ceiling space (there is a second floor above the kitchen) so we are back in the market looking for a different exhaust system for the kitchen. We have a 900 mm combined ASKO induction/wok burner cooktop, does the serial numberon the Sirius indicate the width? We may need to redesign the kitchen cabinetry to accommodate a different size.
Regards
Barbara
Is this twin motor?
Yes.
Anything with an "excel" will be twin motor

Hi Sirius Official team,
I am currently trying to decide between the Sirius SL906-L EXCEL 850 (onboard motor) and SL906 EM-L 850 (offboard motor) to be mounted above a 90cm induction cooktop.
I am having difficulty choosing between the two as there are no showrooms in Tasmania where I can see (hear) either unit operating. Sirius official, can you please advise which would be a better option for my kitchen/house set-up, I have a flat roof that is at most 3m above the cooktop - is this too short a distance for the offboard option?
Thanks in advance!
Dear Dizzy renovator, we have showrooms at Harvey Norman Cambridge park they have an undermount off board and then you can also try Elite Appliances. Three metres to the off board motor is ideal so you can manage both configurations. Thank you Sirius Brand.
Thanks Sirius Official. Unfortunately neither Harvey Norman nor Elite Appliances in TAS have fully installed units to listen to.
Can you tell me your RRP for both the SL906-L EXCEL 850 and the SL906 EM-L 850?
I am considering sl906-L Excel 1000, but my current old rangehood is 112cm tall. 28*90 space.
Is it ok to use excel 1000 for 112cm high? thanks.
Hi Bovely, please call our sirius team to help you here - 1300 762 219, thank you Sirius,
What is the difference between SL906-L EXCEL 850 and SL906 EM-L 850?
