Smeg K7099X Series Questions & Answers
VerifiedHi, I have rangehood K 7099 ENC 2 which stopped working. Light in front are still on but real lights or motor are not working. I might need an installation manual and maybe suggestion what might be wrong (front lights on...?). I live in the country Tasmania and getting electrician who will take couple of hours to figure out what might be wrong, would be very expensive, frankly it might be cost prohibiting. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Kind regards, PS Switched off power for 5 min and front light did not come on again (sorry)

$1100 + two technician visits ($400), not much help. PCB boards 'not communicating'. $1600 buys a new one or maybe advice on different brand? They are usually half (or better) price. Smeg, like Alfa Romeo, looks nice but when 'driven' it's rubbish. PS Smeg technician was trying to help, but he works for the company. Thanks.

The light usually turns off and won't go back on again while the fan is on. Also, I'm not sure that the fan is operating properly at its different speeds Any suggestions? Thanks Peter

Hi we had 2 X SHW900B rangehood installed at our 2 homes on the same block. The units don't work properly as there is no fan sucking up the smell, instead the whole house has the cooking smell since the rangehoods have been installed. Can someone please check this out for us at both homes?
Suggest you go to another brand .. experience here puts zero confidence in the performance and reliability of these units .. Good Luck

It has power and but the fan is not spinning...disappointed with the quality. Not sure why this is happening.

Had a SMEG P791 rangehood installed in November 2016 and it has a burnt out the motor and melted motor run capacitor. I have replaced both these items but it doesn't run properly. The lights work fine but the fan cannot be turned off and rather than increase in speed it reduces speed for the third and forth buttons. Replacement motor and fan kit is a SMEG part that cost me A$383 and the capacitor has the same ratings as the original except the voltage is 450 not 470. Can someone help me to sort this out.
Hi Marcus R., Thank you for your enquiry. Please call our technical support team on 02 8667 4833 and they will be able to assist you with your query. Regards Smeg
My Smeg rangehood fan won’t turn on. The light works but just hear a clicking sound when try to turn on the fan. I tried turning the power off for 10 mins but no change. Is it worth getting service out to fix? Sounds expensive just for them to come and then every 15 mins they charge extra. what if they can’t fix it and I need a new one? It’s going to cost $1000 plus the cost of them not being able to fix. Won’t ever buy Smeg again. Bosch fixed my oven for free even tho it was out of warranty by over a year.

Hi - I have just built a new kitchen and I have a smeg extractor fan, yesterday the power tripped and now the lights and fan do not work. I have been looking online and it seems as it is a problem with all smeg extractor fans.
Please help I need it to work urgently!
Hi Emma try turning off the power to the hood for 10 minutes and then back on if this does not work please call Smeg service on 02 8667 4833 to book a service call.
Regards Chris
Hi Emma go straight to store u bought it from who will direct u to company that does repairs. Contact service dept at smeg as well to get some sort of resolution. Keep all records of ph & email contact as well. We were given all sorts of stories by service people varying from 'dirty' electricity to our power board in house faulty ( it is new). This was finally rectified hopefully? By them installing 2 new motors in extractor fan! Good luck!!
I have a SMEG K7099x90 The lights and fan have stopped working , again This has happened twice before. I don't cook much as I run a 7 day business and eat there. So you can imagine my disappointment. How often would it need fixing if I was a person using it all the time. Can LED globes be fitted instead of Halogen and where does one purchase globes? Cheers
Hi Susie turn the power off to the hood for 10 minutes and then back on it should work again, the lights can not be changed to LEDs
Regards Chris
Hi susie, hopefully your still covered by your warranty or it could cost you for service visits. after 4 visits and the repair people changing the electrical board twice my extractor at last seems to be behaving. Although the light button on the control panel is continually on, not sure if it's supposed to be or not? I was told all sorts of unbelievable reasons by the service person as to why it wasn't working, the most outrageous I thought, was that apparently we have 'dirty' electricity in Australia compared to Europe where the product was manufactured???????? Anyway as far as your changing lights sorry can't help you on that one. Good luck
Susie my Rangehood does the same thing .If you turn it off at powerpoint and wait til the first red light goes out ,then turn it on it will reset.I realise you shouldn’t have to do this but it appears to be the only way
