I've had my kettle for only 8 months - today it suddenly won't stop boiling. Any ideas?

My Smeg kettle is a few years old and out of warranty but has recently developed a big bubble under the paint. I am very disappointed because i chose this product because of its perceived superior quality.
I hear you, not what you expect from a top end costing product. Reckon you'd have a warranty claim there if it's just a few years as "reasonable life" would be 5 years on a kettle that expensive

Hi Karen I am having the same issue. The bubble started off small but is now quite large. The steam is also coming out of the lid near the handle / it’s very concerning and I’m worried about getting scolded. Do you also have this issue?

Should the water level light up on kettle when switched on .....iv just brought a smeg kettle only the switch lights up

I have a real toxic taste in the water of the new kettle and a smell of plastic inside the kettle. Not good as you cannot drink the boiled water.

I have spoken with Smeg, Diamond Service about the kettle and they are going to replace it for me. I did this in an email on Tuesday 29 August, 2023 when I was given a reply from [Name Removed]. You have all my details on that email.
Hi , i have had my smeg kettle and toaster for 6 months and have had no problems except my son dropped kettle in the sink, luckily the kettle had cold water in it, however the lid cracked and the handle and surrounding plastic snapped completely off. It was a great kettle but it snapped easily.

I just bought a Smeg kettle and the water level indicator steams up, is this Normal?

I need to replace the 6 small plastic inserts that slot into the bottom of my kettle to keep it slightly above the charging plate. Does anyone know what they are called please and where I can get some? Many thanks
I bought a Smeg variable temperature kettle. The lid opens almost every time I boil the water - when still boiling or just after boiling. This gets really annoying. My former 30 pounds kettle did not do it and this one is 170 pounds and cannot explain why lid cannot simply stay closed when boiling or just after boiling! Any ideas?
Is it normal for the exterior to get very very hot to touch?
My exterior blistered. Started off the size of 10c piece and grew to palm size over the next month. Although out of warranty replaced by Smeg. They do get warm but not to hot to touch.

Hi RustedSmeg, The interior of the kettle is made of stainless steel so it can't rust. The kettle requires to be descaled to remove the built up. Regards Smeg
Thank you for your answer. It is Orange rust. It has been discaled and sadly it still has this orange rust alone the very bottom joining parts to the base.

The kettle seems to start boiling and then switch itself off again. There’s plenty of water in it and I’ve checked a different socket. Any ideas what’s causing this?
Is it normal for the smeg kettle to have a condensation on the top when boiling water?

Hi, I just bought a Smeg kettle, the little ball in the water level indicator doesn’t move up with the water level. Is this normal? I assume it should move up and down with the water level.
