Have a 3yo Smeg PUM901X rangehood with external duct. There is oil (cooking?) Dropping from the hood onto the cooking surface. Removing the filters the oil is clearly coming from the fan component. Why, how to fix, clean ongoing please?

The third fan button (high) of my PUM60X has stopped working. Everything else works fine. How do you fix it?

Narelle R.

How long is the recommendation for the ducting from the unit to the outside vent, I feel ours may be too long because the condensation is so bad it drips all over my stove top when I boil anything? I’ve been told we can only use the back elements of the stove for it to vent properly.

No sure. My issue was the noise.

I have a PUM90X and went to change the lights by taking out the filters and the 12 screws, but the cover doesnt come out as indicated in the manual. Any one have the same issues? The Rear can move freely but where the lights and fan buttons are it wont budge, any other screws that should be removed. really annoying that the manual doesnt match. or explain better.

Smeg
Smeg   DM

Hi Chun W - This model has a strip LED light, there are no screws that need to be removed to take out the strip as it is clipped in. This job should be done by a technician. Can you kindly email us direct with your full name, address and contact telephone number so we can co-ordinate a service call with you. Our email address is service@smeg.com.au Kind Regards, Smeg Australia.

I could not believe it. The same problem happened to my pum 60x rangehood yesterday morning at 3.30am. It seems 3.30am is the turn on time. It was noisy and woke me up. Pressing buttons would not turn it off. To get back to sleep I had to switch the fuse off at the switchboard. Since then an electrician unplugged it in the overhead cupboard. I have now emailed smeg and they have responded by arranging for the smeg agent to call and inspect the problem. Ross p

Full marks to smeg customer service. They promptly arranged for their agents electrogas to call, which they did today. First class technician arrived on time, who promptly identified the problem and we could all see that a cockroach had short circuited and cooked himself on the power board. Smeg were very generous and covered it under goodwill (well done to smeg-they really support their products). All ended well. Congratulations to smeg. Such service makes you support smeg products. Our Smeg range hood PUM60X has developed intermittent fan and light issues, very disappointing as I believed I was buying a quality product when we fitted out our new kitchen. The unit is used once or twice a week, not heavy use and is cleaned often. As I read the reviews on this model I am frustrated by the fact that the sales agent at an upmarket Adelaide Shop recommended it. :( What are the options to replace with a same size but better range hood? Do not want to have to remodel kitchen cupboards just to solve this problem. Does Smeg make a similar product that will fit but with better operational quality?? Is it worth repairing???

Moved into a new unit with supposed smeg appliances - the rangehood has to be a fake cause surely smeg wouldnt make a product that has no switches to turn it on - nothing anywhere! The most useless piece of crap Ive ever seen. Beware of these fake smeg appliance pieces being installed in new units.

I am about to purchase a PUM90X from Noel Lemming but need to check that it is able to be ducted through an external wall. NOT the roof. What size cupboard do I need to allow and do I need to buy a ducting kit. I am in New Zealand.

Graeme
Graeme

No idea. Mine is ducted to the roof. If you get one, check that whatever ducting they use does not stop the flaps inside from opening. The design seems to make it easy for the flaps to be obstructed. Once it was taken off and retaped a bit more carefully the flaps opened OK, but it only cut the noise down by 10dB or less. Still way too loud.

My Rangehood won't turn off pressing the button. I have to switch off at the power point every time & its getting a bit annoying as I have to climb on a chair to do so. I purchased the more expensive Smeg brand thinking it was going to be better but only 2 years in & it's been a disappointing choice. Any help?

Hi, I have the PUM90X Smeg rangehood .. the strip of lights are dull, do I buy individual lamps or is it a strip light? If I do buy individual lamps where can I purchase these from?

Hi Julie Edmonds. Thank you for your enquiry. There could be a number of factors that have made your lights appear dull. hi , i purchased the PUM90X rangehood we moved into our new home and it wouldn't extract steam , I brought this to the attention of our builder who sent out his installer and it was found to not have 150mm extractor pipe to channel to exterior of home it was reduced by half, they used a larger ducting and its working a little better but not great, its also so noisy you cant hear anything but this roaring fan, could you arrange for someone to take a look at this? all my appliances are smeg and love all of them but this extractor fan is like having a jumbo jet in my kitchen. its installed under wall cupboards that have steam and water running down as i cook on induction cooktop below, terribly unhappy with this product, as their anything that can be done to make this work better and block off the noise. i also purchased extended warrantys on my appliances , we move in 2017. been fobbed off with its not a great unit , i feel i paid $$929.00. + ext warranty

We have just installed this rangehood using the charcoal filter. The air blows up the top and into the cabinetry. Is there a plug we need to stop this? Thanks

Smeg
Smeg   DM

Hi there Kylie. Is your range hood recirculating or ducted to the outside? If it is ducted, you do not need charcoal filters and the air should go out to a vent outside. If your rangehood is recirculating it is good to use the charcoal filters as it purifies the air and eliminates odours when cooking.

There is not a plug that you could use that we know of. But please do check how your rangehood is installed.

If you have any further queries, please do not hesitate to contact us direct, our Service telephone number is: 02 86674833 or our email is service@smeg.com.au - thank you Lesley.
