I have a Smeg stand mixer and the gap between the beater/hook and the bowl seems too large so I often have dry ingredients left in the bottom and have to mix manually to combine. Can this gap be adjusted? Jane
Several points… I have 4 beaters.. the dough hook, the standard K beater, whisk and I purchased the optional scraper which was/is standard on the SMF13. The dough hook is not an issue as it is picking up a ball of dough for kneading. Forget the whisk.. The K hook, I agree there’s a gap… so I generally use that for breaking pulled pork, mixing fritters, meat loaf, stuff like that. The scraper is great for other floury stuff like cakes, muffins, corn bread, cookies etc. NOW… having said all that waffle….. THERE IS a way to adjust the gap using the screws at the back of the mixer on the neck… it’s not documented. I’ve seen a YouTube video on it with a different brand, AND I HAVE NOT TRIED IT.. but same screws are on the SMEG… what it does is adjusts the tilt head to reduce the gap…. You want some, so using a US dime or an Aussie 5 cent piece (about the same size) as your gapper… you can adjust the tilt to reduce the gap.
What is the price?
Have an SMF02 Cream that is 4 ½ months old and it appears the transmission has failed. Planetary motion is there but lots of grinding noise inside the housing and bad vibration. Would like to replace it as it has failed so new. How can I do this.
