There is no coverage West of Pt Augusta. The phone can't register to the Southern Phone network although it says its available. I think they use the Optus network that is in my experience useless in regional areas. Their online support is useless. I wish I could give 0 star, literally the worst provider I have ever had. Staff were not bad, they did try to help but the network service is terrible, horrible. call nor receive call; I missed my doctor's calls, and my relatives and friends were thinking that I blocked them. Once I caught a wrong bus while traveling and had to return back but there was no service to call anyone or see the bus schedule or to book uber. So don't waste your money and time, I know the cheap price seems nice but there's no point of it as the service doesn't work. Thanks.

Very happy with the service AAA++++ – I have been with Southern Phone mobile phone for about 18 months or so now. The service has been so good my wife also changed over. Coverage seems to be very good in Tassie. There are several plans to choose from according to the amount of data you generally use. Horrible service – After the network 3g switch off my mother purchased a new 5g phone and used the existing sim card. Southern discontinued her service and would not reconnect even though it was explained to them that she has melanoma and other serious medical conditions. Avoid at all costs – After requesting a different sized sim card, due to upgrading my phone prior to the 3G cancellation, Southern Phone reported that they didnt have my number on file, and they could not send me anything, even though I had been a customer for years. After recieving a bill a month later with a late fee, I contacted Southern Phone by live chat and recieved no support 'because it was the weekend' (why have live chat on the weekend if you can't provide support?) I called back during the week and was told that I couldnt cancel my account because there was no phone number on file. I explained probably because I cancelled my service. The rep then said the only way to verify me was to send my passport and drivers licence to a random email address. I said I was not comfortable doing this and the representative hung up on me. I called back and was asked to do the same process but the rep said he had to end the call and call me back. After recieving no call back, I phoned again and went through the process for a third time. The represenative then said I still had to pay my bills because the previous representative had not cancelled my service properly . The incompetence of this organisation is beyond belief. Poor customer services – I started using Southern Phone recently which works fine most of the time but not at my workplace. other networks like Vodafone & Telstra work fine at my workplace except Optus. After that they kept telling me to restart the phone and try the sim on another phone which I already tried hundreds of times, It's really hard to explain to them the issue. Finally, someone wrote my complaint and said it would be fixed by 26th May. When I contacted them on the 26th they said it was delayed and would be fixed on the 28th of May. I politely asked them to email me once it's fixed and the agent said "You will likely notice the restoration of your service before we are notified, so you may know before we do." and closed the chat. I contacted them again today and they said there is no outage try restart phone etc etc. I am done explaining them, first, there is a long waiting list on live chat and when someone joins the chat, they reply after ages, and if I reply late they simply close the chat without informing me and fixing the issue. Painful experience with southern phon – Absolutely horrible experience with southern phone. Internet doesn’t work most of the time and troubleshooting team are hopeless instead of fixing the problem they will you there’s a problem with your modem or dsl cable need to get new ones. Hard to get refund on service not being used due to no connection. Definitely going to a different provider. I wouldn’t even give 1 star for the service they provide.

Should not have got a license to be a Provider – Taken them to the Ombudsman over not fit for purpose non-service. I gave Southern Phone one last chance to refund monies, they offered somewhat less, (knowing they have a big problem and that it didn't work) and I was supposed to be satisfied with being ripped off. I emailed the CEO, no response! So now heading to QCAT for my monies back PLUS compensation for all of my lost work time. For what could have been sorted sensibly by just admitting they did not provide the service and I had not virtually used and have a whole lot of hassle over a year now and IT WAS OBVIOUS. call centre had been closed for an hour while I was still waiting. I figured the company is so trash that there wasn't going to be anyone there to answer my call. The hold line says they are one of the best providers for regional Australia, and it felt like a huge slap in the face, them boasting about being the best while I wasted over 10% of my waking hours today waiting to resolve an issue that THEY caused. emails confirming that the direct debit has been successfully set up yet, every month I get a text message telling me that my bill is overdue. I will be cancelling my plan with Southern Phone and finding a company where it is much easier to set this up. lot of time on to connect with a human being, they said that because more than 50% of the data has been used, a data boost (of 1 Gb) was applied. I told them that I never wanted a data boost, but the guy insisted that this is an automatic process. He could not turn this auto data boost off. Now I am ended up paying them 40$ for a plan that should have costed me 10$ a month. I have asked to terminate my plan in the hope for no further unasked for services/charges

Absolutely horrible – It's been a week since I have got a sim from them. I still haven't been connected even though I activated 1h from receiving sim. They changed my number already since receiving sim , telling me they gave my number to someone else after giving it to me. Not much help from customer service except, were not sure what is happening.
