VerifiedMPN: FSA56Can I use a FS56 head on my FSA56 trimmer?
I have a FSA 56 battery powered weedeater and it will not run when trigger is pulled. Can't get it to do anything. The batteries are showing full charge.
Does the FSA 56 need to be greased, and if so where?
I find it very hard to remove my Stihl battery out of my Stihl line trimmer Can you lubricate it for easier slide in and out
Having trouble finding spool cover for my fsa 56
8M X 0.8 CIRCLIP FOR fsa 56 head shaft needed
Can you use the PolyCut 3-2 on a FSA 56 Trimmer
Is there any way to convert the FSA 56 to take the much better Autocut 3-2C trimmer head that comes on the FSA 57? An arbor adapter, perhaps? I hate to think I'll have to dispose of the FSA 56 because of the crappy head. I wish I'd waited just a few months before buying. The FSA 57 was released just a couple of months after I bought the FSA 56. The head has been nothing but trouble.
Tell me about it, I've had nothing but trouble with mine, the head cove breaks, and can't find any on line
Hi, I have been wrestling with mine for nearly two hours trying to get the trimmer head off after removing the clip. I have heated it, sprayed wd40 on, been pulling out and it still won't budge. I'm worried I'm going to end up damaging the motor or mechanism underneath it if I continue trying to pry it off. Why do they not make it the same as the petrol trimmer heads, where you just kick it in place and then rotate the head until it unlocks. So much easier. In theory this should be simple but in reality it's harder. Are there any other trucks to getting the head off? Thank you
Hi David, unfortunately not. If you have removed the cerclip then it is just dried and congested. It’s just sitting on a shaft with a T bar.
Hi David - I've had the same issue. If you can secure the head (I unscrewed the housing to make this easier and then rested the head on the jaws of a workmate), you can then use a hammer and the flat head of a nail to force the spindle out of the head. You will not do any damage, ie., there is no thread on it. My new head came with a new cerclip, too, but I was able with a hammer and screwdriver to get the removed clip back on.
I took off the clip and use a needle nose pliers with a bend in it and pried it up once I figured out it wasn't threaded it was just friction holding it in place.
I have a stihl fsa56 trimmer. The battery has always been difficult to remove. The last time I used it the battery won't come out at all. This battery has always been difficult to get off the charger as well. Otherwise a very fine product.
My FSA 56 is making a squealing noise. What’s causing this & how do I fix it?
I would say the first place to check is if there is any debris under the head. Remove the cover and the spool taking care not to lose the spring underneath. Remove the cir-clip (it may break, so I would get a replacement cir-clip before starting) on top the shaft and pull off the head. Clean the all the debris that has almost certainly collected there. Then spin it up and see if the noise has gone. If it has re-assemble. If it hasn’t you will need to open the section that the shaft goes into and check the motor and gear assembly (several screws through the body and it will split in half. Inside is self explanatory and if is damaged it will meet to be replaced. It comes as one assembly (not cheap).
Hope this helps and that is only debris under the head.
Good luck
I see all the questions are months old. My question is I want to replace the string head on a FSA 56 with a cutting head. Please give me specific instructions for a novice. Steve H.
Hi Stephen Take off the spool cover, take out the spool, followed by the spring. You will see on top of the shaft a small circling. Once this is removed (you may need some circling pliers) you can just pull the remaining part off.
Be aware that the circling may break, so I wold advise you have a new one at the ready. Circlip size is 8M x 0.8
Just do the reverse to apply your cutting head. Although, not sure the FSA 56 is up to the job of a cutting head.
Hope this helps Bob
Is there a speed feed head for the FSA56?
Hi Kenneth
Not sure what you mean by speed feed. If you mean one that you just bump on the ground. That should be standard on the FSA 56.
Regards Bob
I have Fsa 56. Why is the spool feeding line out continually while in operation until it is tangled up which makes trimmer quit operating?
It’s likely that the spring loaded button that you tap on the ground to get more line is stuck in.
Can you use the polycut 2-2 replacement head on the FSA 56 trimmer?
Hi can you please tell me how to fix a problem with the battery popping out during use (not locking in properly). This happens when I use the hedge trimmer & longreach hedge trimmer. I use the same battery for the brushcutter and it works fine. Thanks
I have a fsa 56 Stihl trimmer , been looking for a replacement head cap. Where can I purchase one? Is it maybe enter changeable with another model?
Cannot get the head off. Removed the spring and the c clip and it won’t come off. Help?
It will pull off Robert. It’s just sitting on a pin that goes through the shaft. It’s probably just crammed with dried long grass and stuff. You could spray underneath it with WD40 or some other penetrating oil. Don’t try soaking it as the motor unit is in the pod behind it.
Heat it with a hair dryer after removing the circlip. Then wriggle the cutter head back and forth. After a few heat and wriggle cycles you will see it creep up past the circlip groove. A few wriggles later it will slide off.
On the FSA56 I am wishing to install the head for poly cut blades . What is the secret to remove the old string mechanism head?
It’s held on by a circlip exposed once you remove the string container you will need a circlip tool or a pair of long nose pliers.
Is there a way to replace the string feed eyelet in the FSA 56 trimmer head. As you are aware it wears out in a short time, which causes the string as it feeds out to break. I have several heads all bad...and now cannot find replacement heads. VERY, VERY frustrating.
Vicki the eyelets can not be replace of the cutting head of the FSA 56 trimmer and if you have a local Stihl dealer you can get a new head form them. the company I work for is a Stihl dealer and I get new heads all the time for this trimer. I just replaced a head for a customer today. The head you are looking for is the AutoCut 2-2. You can go to Stihlusa.com and search for a dealer near you or the company I work for is called Runnings and we have 57 stores through out the mid west for the east coast. You can go on to our web sight Runnings.com and search for the head and we will ship it to you.
Daniel, is there any way to replace this head with the much-improved head that comes on an FSA 57?
