Stokke Tripp Trapp Questions & Answers
VerifiedI got this chair handed down. I have used the chair for 11 months. Loved the newborn set. Our babyset is from 2016 and the straps are located (screwed into the chair's back) at the level of baby's lower back and that seems really uncomfortable as they are pushing into his spine. He is 11 month now and recently started refusing the chair by stiffening his legs making it practically impossible to get him in. It seems everyone raves about this chair and not just since yesterday. So I am wondering Is there anything I am doing wrong or is it worth upgrading to a new babyset? Chair is from 2016. I have tried putting him in a different highchair where the legs don't have to fit through two holes and putting him in causes no fuss. Thank you!
Hi Christin, It sounds like you are experiencing some challenges with the baby set on your Tripp Trapp chair. The discomfort that your baby is experiencing with the straps at the level of his lower back is understandable and can be quite frustrating.
One option could be to consider upgrading to a new baby set that is compatible with your Tripp Trapp chair.
You can try to measure the gap between the first and second back laminates from the side of the chair. If it is 3.5cm then the current model of Baby Set should fit your Tripp Trapp chair. It has a backrest as opposed to your version and it comes with an integrated harness. To increase comfort, you may also purchase the Tripp Trapp Classic Cushion which you can use with or without the baby set. This will provide extra padding for the back of your child.
I hope this helps.

Hi parents, I have a big baby - 13kg 15 month old at 85cm tall. His outgrown baby bjorn high chair. Could I have an idea how the Tripp Trapp works with big babies? He need to be strapped in. His also a runner and side diver.
How does the Stokke highchair wear over time? I currently have a wooden highchair of a different brand and the timber doesn't cope with the constant wiping down.
Has anyone used the Tripp trapp with a table height more than 76cm as recommended in the product information? Our table is 78cm abs I was wondering if this chair would still work with this table height?
I'm not 100% sure of the maximum table height for tripptrapp but I know that you are able to adjust the seat level depending on your child's (and I'm assuming the table, too) height. Like for example when I first bought the tripp trapp, we had inserted the seat on the fourth slot (from the top). There are still 3 slots above which means that I could still adjust the seat higher but it's probably worthwhile to check it out at the stores yourself just in case. Hope this helps :)
The required table hight (not include timber, just the space underneath) is 72-76cm, so I think 2cm difference is ok?
Do you need to buy the baby seat? My daughter is nearly fifteen months but is small?
Yes I think so. The built-in harness keeps slipping off my daughter's shoulder and I rely on the baby seat as well. But note that with the baby seat, it makes it harder to put on the harness
I didn't and I started using it when my daughter turned 1. She's considered as one of the smaller babies too but I had no problems in using it without the baby seat. And recently, I had guests over and they have a child who's 7 months and sat on the same chair without the baby seat. Just be sure to keep a constant lookout on your child and ensure the harness is on at all times.
I wouldn't buy it and our babies started using the Tripp Trapp from a very early age. They weren't left unattended, of course.
Hi, I was wondering if any one has the white colour one, and if it's easy to stain / clean?
Hi, I bought the white one and yes, it does get dirty from time to time but nothing like a good scrub can't fix so far. But because it's white, it is pretty obvious when the chair is dirty. What I'd suggest is to consistently clean the chair so you'll have no problems with it.
Hi :-)
I was wondering if the timber bar that goes across the waist (I'm not sure if it comes with the high chair, or it's an optional extra), comes off, and goes back on easily (each time you put in and take out your child)?? My daughter needs to be restrained in the chair, but her legs are too long to get into highchairs with a permanent crotch/waist bar.
Thank you in advance :-)
Hi Sharyn, Are you referring to the baby seat? If yes, then that's an optional extra and I actually didn't buy that bit as my daughter sat on the baby snug until she was approximately 8-9 months old. And then I moved her straight to TrippTrapp without the baby seat as she was already sitting up nicely. The good thing about the high chair is that it comes with the restraints and if your daughter is already very stable when sitting but you just need an extra comfort that she won't fall over if she was to lean forward when she's on the high chair then I'd say that the restraints itself should be sufficient - as long as you secure it to her size.
Hope this helps!
Thanks Alana. I was actually meaning the wooden bar at waist height, that has a strap that goes down between their legs, but I've had the question answered elsewhere. Unfortunately the answer meant this Highchair isn't suitable for my daughters needs.
Thank you anyway :-)
There is definitely a knack at using the wooden bar but also easy to put child in and out without taking it off. I used this chair with my last two children from when they started to eat (6 months) to about 6/7 years at the table. The youngest one tended to want to get up and down and would ask me to put bar on so he wouldn't! Lol. The footrest and seat are all adjustable so perfect for different sizes/your daughters long legs and grows with the child.
