Sunbeam Mixmaster - Rubbish – I bought a Sunbeam Mixmaster thinking it was going to perform as perfectly as the Sunbeam Mixmasters I've owned since 1974. How wrong could I be. Ever since I bought it it was noisy and sounded as though it was labouring to work. Then it started to not come on intermittently. Now it won't even turn on. I am so dissapointed in the Sunbeam brand now, I doubt I'll buy it again. Even my Sunbeam toaster died just after the warranty was up. Show details

Sunbeam MX8500 is cheap & nasty! – Had a twin beater Sunbeam Mixer for over 30 years and loved it! Motor still runs good as ever but nylon buttons had worn on beaters so didn't turn bowl anymore. only had infrequent light use so is almost new still but it has started smoking from the Motor!!! So so unhappy! Complete waste of money. Am going to try and find replacement beaters for our old mixer as I'm not game to buy another Sunbeam Mixer after this!!!

Fabulous mixer – The motor is amazing, it has made my cake-making so much quicker, and easier. Yes, we have had the problem with the beaters but it was easily overcome by smoothing down the plastic collar on the beater attachment. Show details ·  1

So stylish – Can’t understand the negative reviews, pay more if you want better, I paid $189 so it’s on the lower priced available. It’s had a good work out and works fine. It also is so stylish I’d be happy just to buy it as a feature piece for the kitchen. Show details

Great mixmaster – I love my machine, I was looking for a mixmaster that would work well and not cost the earth, within 6 months it had paid for itself, I love it. I bought the Florence Broadhurst version from David Jones, which added a nice style aspect to the mixer too. Would definitely recommend to any novice chefs out there.  Show reply

Sunbeam used to be a reliable brand – Had a very old Sunbeam Mixmaster which was great. It stopped working so we replaced it with another Sunbeam. I have had it a few years but rarely use it as the beaters are hard to put in and the bowl either turns very slowly or not at all, so I have to push the bowl around to operate it.

Didn’t last long – Bought for my wife 2 years ago mx8500 now motor runs but beaters don’t work. I am like so many others. Thought Sunbeam was STILL a good product so I would buy another one. Bowl doesn't spin – Highly disappointed with this mixer. My husband purchased it for me for Christmas 2017 from Myer, I went to use it today (2/1/18) for the first time to discover the bowl did not spin with the large or small bowl attached. Sunbeam florence broadhurst design is a disgrace – Florence broadhurst mixer really poor hardly mixes. The bowl doesn't lock into place properly very bad machine waste if money. Attaching and rotating bowl is a nightmare – I recieved this as a gift. I had the issue of bowl not attaching or detaching properly. At about 1 month old the base fell apart it was replaced whole new machine but i still have the same problem. Its useless! Problem detaching bowl – I brought this mix master, and after one use I could not detach the bowl from the base. One day I decided to unscrew the bottom and found that a small spring was not affixed where it should have been, after reattaching the spring I could finally remove the bowl. Terrible product with possible intention by company to fail for replacement? – The product has a terrible life span and when trying to see where things have gone wrong internally discovered that it was intentionally built so that maintenance and part replacement is nearly impossible! Only other option is paying $100 for someone to tell me they can't fix it either.

those long mixes, like a pav. I like that it's not heavy like the kitchenaid and I can easily lift it in and out of the cupboard with the handle.

Don't waste your money! – We received a Mixmaster as part of our Engagement Party Gift Registry. We had requested the mixmaster due to their stellar reputation. another 6 months later, again with minimal domestic use, the motor has just blown up... that's 2 units in 12 months... I just want my money back so that I am able to buy a mixer that doesn't have a catastrophic failure every 6 months!

Very disappointing, I won't be buying another Sunbeam product again, as there appears to be major faults with their design, durability and quality assurance!

Sunbeam failed after 2 years light use – When my Sunbeam mixmaster of 35 years finally died 2 years ago, I thought a new Sunbeam would be just the thing. Wrong. Purchased 4/2014, the rheostat speed is either off or flat out. Very disappointed after all these years and reviews seem to back this up for the brand.

to get hot very quickly, however it just doesn't seem to be powerful enough to handle basic recipes.

I was also disappointed to discover that the bowls of this mixer don't spin, it needs constant scraping and is very noisy to operate.

I don't imagine I'll be able to get a replacement as the device was a gift and I don't have proof of purchase.

What a shame! – I also bought this for sentimental reasons. What a complete waste of metal, energy and money. The base doesn't turn, so I was hand turning the bowl and the beaters get caught on each other. The service centre offered no help. Take it off the market, it's useless piece of equipment. It is such a shame, I regret buying it.

Useless Piece of Junk – I wish that I had read the reviews before I bought this utterly useless machine. The beaters don't even hit the bottom of the bowl, I have to physically turn the bowl to get it to turn around. This is the most useless thing I have ever bought. They should take it off the market immediately.

This model is a Dud – Everything every other reviewer has stated is true. Bowls stop spinning, mixers are hard to insert, food comes out of the bowls and the bowls get stuck to the base. second machine after Sunbeam replaced the first one when the bowl got stuck and no amount of effort could unlock it. When I contacted Sunbeam they didn't even question it when I mentioned the stuck bowl. They just advised me to return it to the store for a new one. Now my second one has the same problem and is now out of warranty. There is obviously a design flaw with the model & I would not recommend anyone to buy it.

Devastated! – I am so disappointed in this machine, I could cry! I bought it for myself for Christmas and it doesn't work how it should :( The bowl turns ONLY when you keep touching it to move. It doesn't scrape the sides which means I am constantly sticking a spoon in the bowl. The attachments are impossible to get into the machine. It has just really upset me! :(

Can't get parts to fix it & it's only 4 yrs old! – Had my sunbeam food processor for 20 years so bought the mixmaster. What a disappointment after only 4 yrs the turning circle gears broke and the poor service agent couldn't get the spare parts to fix it. He did his best, but now it's noisier and won't last. Will not be buying sunbeam again!

spot or they won't go in. The bowls get stuck in the base. I took one back 2 months ago & got it replaced with the same model and now this one has done the same thing - bowl is stuck! Called customer service & they said to take it back & that the 9700 model is better BUT I didn't WANT a planetary mixer!! I cook a LOT & I like the bowl to rotate as opposed to the beater so not sure what I am going to replace it with now!! Not happy! Bring back the old model & the glass bowls!!

so no doubt the makers are not cooks! Agree with the comment about butter and sugar not mixing properly just the worst thing ever for people who love their cooking.

remotely looks like it should but still can feel the sugar but give up…I am gutted as I thought Sunbeam was a respectable product but my views have changed and now will have to save again to buy another brand… I hope other people read this before they make the same mistake.

Piece of junk – This item has never really worked to capacity from the get go. After only having used it at the very most 8 times it completely conked out. The attitude from sunbeam is too bad! It is out of warranty. A piece of rubbish! I will never use sunbeam products again. The colour Motor burned out after 8 uses, and the only time it was used is to make Meringue!

Fiddly but effective, when it works. SHORT design life – Fiddly to use - attaching bowls, beaters isn't smooth/ Lasts a year at most: light to medium family use & each year the Worm/gear assembly fails. Design flaw in Steel/Brass combination/ Brass shavings on the counter top & no rotation from the unit - same problem 4 years running. Heats up on meringue. looked good. claimed to be "commercial design" persistent worm/gear failure due to steel/brass construction.

Disappointing – Just pulled it out of the box to start Christmas baking. First problem is that there is no manual in the box ...no biggy. So the bowls don't spin when ingredients are in the bowl ...what the....!!!!! Had to nurse the machine to get it to mix . Change speeds and you can hear the motor struggle and drag. MX8500 Mixmaster Classic in stainless steel. I couldn't wait to use it but, as commented by a few others, the bowls just won't spin so you have to stand by the machine manually turning the bowls the whole time. I did ring technical suport and was told that they are not meant to turn with the whisks even though the manual states that it does, and with the beaters it won't turn with some mixtures. He was extremely unhelpful. I would like to return it to Myers where I purchased it but was so confident that I would be happy I have thrown away the box!
