Swift, light, safe and fuel efficient – This car has alot of character being very light on its feet to drive and only around 900kgs. You can appreciate the economy and zippy nature with such a light car compared to other small and mid size cars. The real world economy is 5.9-6.1 litres per 100kms. Added to the attraction is all the safety features, adaptive cruise control is good for… Read more
school zones. If you like technology then apple car play is all you need too. Lastly I think this car looks very funky and cool, not a box or normal hatch shape. I preferred the CVT because it is smooth. So far extremely satisfied. Definitely not a boring car.

New swift had major oil leaks at only 2300 kms! – At only “2300kms” our Suzuki Swift Navi Plus had an engine sump oil leak (very surprised to find oil all over the garage floor) Took it in to the Suzuki service centre and told not to drive it. As soon as it could be booked in it was taken to the Suzuki service centre to fix the engine sump oil leak, I was told while they were fixing that problem… Read more
they found another one. A seperate oil leak was found coming from the timing cover. The car ending up staying even longer to be fixed, almost 4 weeks without a car in total from not being able to drive it to getting it repaired. Very disappointing that a car with only 2300 kms on it has these major issues, it makes me wish we didn’t purchase this vehicle as I feel I don’t know what is going to go wrong with it next! I thought that by purchasing a brand new vehicle we would of had a reliable car we could depend on, it has been the very opposite. Disappointing that Nundah Suzuki where it was purchased from, didn’t want to talk to me about the lemon car they sold me!
8.5 out of 10 Well done Suzuki – Everything this car does it does amazingly well. The seating is firm and supportive and comfortable. The stereo is clear and loud. The Bluetooth and satnav are great. The handling and acceleration is great. The stance and aesthetics are great too. Servicing is capped and the car is very reliable. I've owned this car for over three years and 50000… Read more
klm and if feels like it's getting better than when I bought it. So a message to suzuki if your listening. The car desperately needs more traction. It does burnouts in second gear. It also sways a little. And its a victim of potholes. Also it needs a bit more umph up to 2500 rpm. This car needs a LSD, ECU upgrade wider tyres with better grip. Stiffer sway bars and a sportier shocks. This could be added at the dealer. Plus a premium stereo. This car is bonkers and will need those small upgrades to make it 10 out of ten. Like the GR Yaris this could be the Swift Type S. This car truly has the makings of a cult classic. It was made for a price point. Could not the enthusiast have that little bit extra fitted at the dealer? Let me know how much. I'm interested.
Great little Hatchback – Only just recently bought this car and at the time, I was looking for a hybrid . Hybrids in any make had an 8 to 12 month wait which I was unwilling to wait for. I test drived a 2022 Toyota Yaris mid range with a petrol engine . Disliked the rough ride and clunky feel it gave. Also , their top range model had only drum brakes on the rear. The… Read more
Yaris I tested clearly was slower at braking and I had to adjust how I would normally drive. The Suzuki Swift GLX Turbo comes standard with dics brakes all round. The Swift handled well on the road for a small car and was great at obsorbing bumps; better than the Toyota Yaris. Also cause of the discs brakes front and back , the Swift of course had superior stopping. I can't.....I was going to say I can't understand why they still use drum brakes but of course it's to save money. I really feel that in these modern times drum brakes should be ch in the tip. In the short time I have owned the Swift Turbo , I can tell you it has good fuel economy and early signs are 5.8 litres/100kms with a good portion of City driving. However as with all cars it greatly depends on how you drive . I am sure I can get better fuel consumption over time and I can see it would be really low over long open road trips. Electronics is not lacking in this model of the car with a large infotainment screen ( no Satnav but phone connection via phone lead and then you can access your phone apps including google maps)electric mirrors, electric windows ,blind spot warning signals in the mirrors, out of lane warning and cruise control. Cruise control is not the normal run of the mill one either. It's the new type which monitors the cars in front of you and applies the brakes when you are getting too close; which can be adjusted. I feel that the distance even at its least setting still gives way too big a gap but in saying that , do we really want to completely leave it up to a machine to make a closer judgement! The one thing I was not able to duplicate is poor handling and steering at higher speeds as one reviewer on here mentioned. The only thing I can put that down to is poor tyres or their car was in bad need of repair ! Perhaps some earlier year models had an issue which I don't know about but has clearly been sorted now. When I have had the car for 6 months or so I may add to this review. The price I payed was before trade. I traded a 2020 Mazda CX-3 Maxx Sport .

Forget euro cars this isthe benchmark – Ok I purchased new my first Suzuki Swift around 2010. 1.5 Litre manual five speed. Quick enough. Robust construction. Confident handling stopping. Easy on the eye. Nothing ever goes wrong with the car. Totally reliable. I sell the car after 3 to 4 years. The residual value is impressive heaps superior to any euro car. Frugal on gas. servicing. Safety features aplenty. My use is mainly two people however two adults plus two kids easy. The car does not stress. Model changes shape features etc over 10 years minimal. I have owned 4 Swifts over twelve years the last two cars being Swift Sport. One manual and now an auto. What a joy a real gem of a car. Gutsy fast sure footed uber build quality. The auto is solid torque converter traditional transmission no buzzy CVT or euro gyro gear loose stuff. Turbo slick motion effortless. I like them. Patrick
Great package for the money – Have had the car for almost 3.5 years and no issues whatsoever. Very reliable. Engine performance from the little turbo engine is adequate and returns good fuel economy. GLX includes more features then the base model for not much more money. Car primarily used for local trips with occasional longer drives. Car is regularly serviced in accordance with manufacturer's recommendation, with intermediate oil changes undertaken by choice. Show details
Almost brilliant – I love the handling and fuel economy of this car (light weight helping both of those factors). It has lots of great options and is very smooth at any speed, relaxing to drive etc. The only thing that lets it down is the cheap interior build quality - edges are sharp, surfaces hard but worst of all there are squeaks and vibrations from the dash and… Read more
door trim which is a real shame. If they had added just a small bit to weight of the vehicle and made the interior more solid and better fitting it would have rivalled a lot of small European cars.

Suzuki fan who wants to love this car but there's a problem Suzuki can't/won't fix – I bought my car second hand. It was in better condition than a dealer demonstrator, it was as new, only 2500kms on the clock, and 1 year old. Looked like it just came off the showroom floor, it was basically new. The car has some awesome acceleration, and great handling, the seats are nice and hugging and looks fantastic in red. Previously I… Read more
owned a 2007 Swift S and kept that for 14 years and loved it, nothing ever went wrong. The sound system (CD player) in my old Swift S however was way better than the sound system in the Swift Sport MY2020. That's the only thing I miss from my 14 year old Swift S. The Swift Sport has much thinner internal plastic and if you crank up the volume on the sound system, a number of panels in the car with start to vibrate. I suspect the speakers are also smaller, and possibly worse quality than me previous Swift. You have to tone down the bass to reduce the vibrations. I've considered replacing the sound system, but I don't think that will stop the internal plastic panels vibrating.
But there is one other problem in my Swift Sport that Suzuki can't/won't fix and it's a complete buzz kill, to the point where I'm beginning to not want to drive the car. There's a metal sounding vibration/rattle coming from the engine bay whenever the accelerator is touched. Foot off the gas, the rattle goes, foot on the gas, rattle comes back. Doesn't matter what speed, it's there when the car is in neutral if you rev the engine. Feather the accelerator on and off and you can easily tell it's there. It's there everytime I drive it, it never goes away. My Swift Sport has been back to the local dearler 3 times, and they reckon they can't find where it's coming from. This is my 4th Suzuki, I currently own 3, and to refer to Suzuki slogan of "for fun's sake", it's not always fun to drive. I try to forget and block out the vibration/rattle, but it's hard to escape.
I'm going to go back to Suzuki again to see what can be done, but as I previously said, this issue is a complete buzz kill.
UPDATE: all Suzuki turbo models will develop a rattle from the Turbo Wastegate, and this will start anywhere from 1000-3000kms. So if you buy any current Suzuki with a turbo, even the 1.0L, don't be surprised to start to hear a rattle from the engine bay over time. Suzuki say this is expected & normal, but they don't tell you that before you buy. Google "suzuki swift sport boosterjet engine rattle"
Underpowered rental car – Rented this car out at Apex car rentals Cairns and look if its the last car on the lot well so be it. I rather a bigger car for the Suzuki Swift felt underpowered esp going along the Bruce highway and Captain Cook Highway i had my foot down on the Accelerator and we weren't going anywhere 66kw is not really going to cut it but once the car is on… Read more
the highway theres cruise hold and a speed limiting function . I took it up the range towards Kuranda and i had to change gears to L the was two people in the car there is also a S mode on the gear shifter Sports mode perhaps? The CVT transmission of 0 gears yeah its up to the buyer the S mode It made going up the mountain easier i guess. Going down the Range its very nimble but hey what car isnt nimble going down a steep range the Swift it hugged the corners. Petrol wise it goes well economically but i question the computer fuel monitor i had to fill $2 worth of petrol because that bar wasnt showing full for the rental car company returns procedure. Technology wise it had Google Auto and Apple carplay function that was finicky and its operation was connected to the drive shifter, i had more trouble then ever trying to work both Android and Apple to the car unlike other cars radio systems this system refuse to accept connections until the drive shifter was shifted from one to a other i forget how it works, but the touch screen and sound and fm radio was ok basic sound, the Rear parking camera from the bumper was another feature . Anyway the inside of the car was ok a little small basic everything no auto head lights that annoyed me at night, front seat driver support basic for a entry model. Some cup holders, the car remote key for a 2019 car looked 2000 ish. The boot area can fit one large luggage bag and one cabin sized bag both bags must be on their sides, rear seats space well more for the kids. Finally parking the little thing was simple with the rear camera be aware any raised parking areas for this underpowered car in reverse parking mode theres just not enough 66kw you be struggling. My honest opinion this car the Swift looks like any other compact car if the badge wasn't there it could have any brand placed on the car the looks were pretty generic.
Good car Bad comfort – Recently had 8 days in Tassie in a brand new rental Swift. As a mechanical device, it's great, but as an all-round car, it has two significant failings. 1) Comfort - drive 200kms and see if you can stand up straight, let alone walk. Totally debilitating. I got to the point where I hated getting into the drivers seat. 2) Handling - this is not a… Read more
car for inexperienced drivers. I don't know if the poor handling is due to the lack of weight or ineffectual steering geometry, but it squirms around corners and feels unstable cornering at moderate speed. Add a few bumps and a bit of speed and it's downright scary or exhilarating depending on your own fear factor level. On the plus side, plenty of internal space and fuel efficient. On the quirky, took me two days to realise in fact there were door handles on the rear doors (high up at the top of the fixed rear quarter panel windows) and the GPS can't be set while moving. This is definitely not a car I'd buy or would want as a rental again.

GREAT SMALL CAR – Have owned this from new and now have about 2,000kms on the clock. Usual drive is in to town (30km return)..... bit of shopping and the odd longer weekend drive !! Getting approx 5.3L per 100km on E10 - so very economical. This car is very smooth, lots of low down torque, and is quiet around town. Bit of tyre noise at speed on certain road surfaces...... suspension is tight and well-sorted. Show details

Beware of warranty limitations – I have now owned three Swifts - 2015, 2019 and 2022 models. Basically, we have teen-agers and have bought and then 'sold' them to the girls as safe-ish first cars. However, the most recent purchase (2022) has had significant issues with the paint job. We still have the 2019 car (2015 was written off in a hailstorm) and this car is in great nick.… Read more
Within a few months of purchase the 2022 car had SIGNIFICANT damage to the paintwork on the bonnet and front side panels. This is way beyond what you would expect for a lightly driven, new car. The dealer's response? Disinterest and 'not covered by warranty'. I'm flabbergasted! I find the Swift great to drive, but this is so disappointing, as the paint job is crucial to the car's longevity. Long and short of it is we will get bonnet resprayed and ceramic coating applied before selling car to daughter #2, but for daughter 3 and for future cars we will not consider Suzuki's or affiliated brands. Disappointing.

Still a good efficient car! – I’ve bought my new swift sports Auto in March from a 2012 manual model. Because I love the car, like it’s handling and so efficient driving around. Apart from a different type of engine, the new model still has come with new features such as adaptive cruise control, safety breaks, lane departing alert, auto light, day light and apple car play etc.… Read more
however, with the higher price, you can obviously tell Suzuki has cut down a lot of costs. 1. Reduce the overall size of the car. Ie total length of the car, smaller dash depth and remove the cover of the boot. 2. Bad Design of front passenger window. When I open the passenger window a bit, it hits the door all the time and makes loud noises. 3. Safety alert is very sensitive. I sometime get freaked out by the alert in the middle of the road. 4. Boot size getting worse - the boot of last model was already small. It didn’t come with the boot internal cover (100% cutting cost). It now makes a awkward space where it sinks in, not deep enough and creates a gap between the boot and folding seat. It hard to perfecting utilize it when the surface is not flat! Didn’t get the design at all.
I have read some reviews before purchasing the car. However, I didn’t really think they would be problems until driving one now.
An awesome car. Great on fuel efficiency – Love this car. It is very fuel efficient, it is so good at times gives 18Km on the litre. Very compact and has enough space to take your luggage around. Small enough to fit in small spaces for parking on the street. The safety pack comes with a lot of features and is great to drive even long distances. You will find a bit of road noise, however, you get used to it pretty fast. One of the best fuel efficient cars I have ever owned. Show details

Thaifan Review of 07/08/2018 – Readers, Product Review have not updated their Suzuki Swift models, so, if you bought a Suzuki Swift from about June 2018, and review it, it gets lumped into older models. My review titled "Exciting" is for the July 2018 introduced SZ33S Suzuki Swift Sport 1.4 turbo Boosterjet engine model.
Exciting – When you look at reviews on Product Review, you will notice they are mostly 5 star reviews. And of course you might be aware that Suzuki won the Customer Satisfaction Award for 2018. I had been looking for a brand of car that still used a conventional torque converter automatic gearbox, with paddle shifters, if you wanted to drive it as a… Read more · 1
manual. Some of you will know that nearly all car manufacturers have ditched conventional automatics for CVT or Dual Clutch transmissions, and quite a few of these manufacturers have had problems with both types. No one knows whether either will last the life of the car, and there is no car review of a car with a lot of kilometers on it with either of these transmissions. But on YouTube, you will find videos about the failure of these, - for some brands, but not all, - yet.
Many people buy automatics, but they have *no idea of what sort of automatic they are getting. CVTs for instance, can not tow trailers, as the belt in the transmission may slip under added load. Dual Clutch transmissions can not back up trailers with a load, on to steep drive ways, as the clutches can burn out. And they become confused in slow moving traffic as to which gear to engage. They are also unsuited to stop start traffic jams, as the clutches will have a slipping effect. This is why those in the know, try to find a car with conventional torque converter. Suzuki had CVT transmissions in some of their models, but dropped them for torque converter automatics.
The new 2018 Suzuki Swift has a bigger body than before, and has plenty of room for 4 people, with lots of headroom at the back. I am speaking about the 1.4 litre turbo booster jet engine powered model here, but it probably applies to all 2018 Swift models, that despite their light weight, they feel very solidly built. And they do not feel particularly light to drive. In fact the electric steering does not suggest lightness at all, they seem well planted to the road.
The Swift Sport is the fastest of Swift models, and shares the same turbo engine as the SUV Vitara & SCross models. But being lighter than those, and with the engine spiffed up more than the SUV models, the Sport is a very fast agile car, and will leave all cars in their wake when traffic lights change to green. And without any real effort.
They have every safety feature known to the motor industry, except blind spot monitoring, which for a short car is not needed, the side mirrors give a perfect view of hat is happening on the sides, to the rear of the car. And the view through the back window is perfect, and expansive.
Here are some of the features of the Swift Sport :-
1.4L BOOSTERJET turbo engine
6.1L/100km fuel economy*
6-speed manual transmission or 6-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters
Multimedia Satellite Navigation System with Reversing Camera, Apple CarPlay® & Android Auto™
Bluetooth® & iPod® USB connectivity with steering wheel audio controls
Adaptive cruise control
Digital climate control
Keyless start and entry
Semi-bucket seats with red stitching and embossed "Sport" logo
D-shaped steering wheel
60:40 - split rear seats
Six airbags
ESC, ABS, EBD, & BA
5 Star ANCAP Safety Rating
Autonomous Emergency Braking
Lane Departure Warning
Weaving Alert
High Beam Assist
17" alloy wheels
Daytime running lights
Front fog lights
Automatic LED headlights
Privacy glass
Electronically folding door mirrors
So, you can see that it is also a very safe car with 5 star Ancap accreditation.
I think the basic Swift is about $16,000, but the Sport is $25,490 for the 6 speed manual and $27,490 for the 6 speed automatic. All colors except white, are metallic and cost an additional $500.The on the road cost of the Sport with metallic paint, is around $31,700.00.
I strongly suggest you watch the many YouTube videos on the 2018 Suzuki Swift Sport, and see the grins on the faces of all, but one reviewer. And take no heed to the comments about Suzuki hard plastic surfaces, you simply do not notice them when driving.
Finally, my dream come true. I got a Swift with a prefect shape car and cockpit to drive what I want – I always want a Swift but never get around to it. Performance, handing and running costs are prefect choice for me to pick for a long term and fell in love since been out car hunting to buy for couple of weeks to test drive. dislike sun visor flaps are quite short for side door window, not enough block out the sun of my side face. Love the interior and rest of it. So I am in love with this car , nickname " Indy! " Love the keyless entry as well but annoyed that I had to bleep twice on button to open all the doors plus hatch as well, bit similar to Commodore VS as well. (Note: doors lock has been solved in a week later) But overall I love it ..
Now 4 years passed... Nifty little car for the city – Gotten a Swift earlier in June this year after narrowing it down to a few choices. Like the car for its fuel consumption and good handling on the road. The Third One! – I smile each time I get into the car. It is hard to believe that so much has changed since my 2011 model. The basic shape has been maintained but the new style grill, headlights and rear doors have changed. Green tinted windows and dark privacy glass on the 4 rear windows adds to the allure. all creates a sporty appearance. Keyless doors and push button start operate by a proximity sensor which means you don't have to take the key out of your pocket or handbag.
At first when I was told it was a 3 cylinder model with a small engine size of 995 cc, I thought it would not match my 4 cylinder 1400 cc model. A quick run down and up the Toowoomba Range surprised me. The 6 speed gear auto gearbox changes imperceptively. It pulled so much better as the torque power comes in at 1500 rpm where you do most of your driving. The previous model's torque was 130 N and this new one is 160 N. Similarly the engine output has grown from 70 Kw to 82 Kw. What a difference it makes. It moves faster and stronger and makes a marvelous growl when you accelerate hard.
The adaptive cruise is a new feature. It adapts to the speed of the car in front of you. On the highway you no longer have to brake and turn off your cruise control when stuck behind a slow moving vehicle. The radar sensor can be adjusted to different car lengths to follow behind the slow vehicle. I have mine set about 6 car lengths. When I indicate to pass the adaptive cruise immediately resumes to the 100 kph setting.
Lane departure was a bit disconcerting at first as a drift over the road centre line results in dash flashing lights and vibrations from the steering wheel. It makes me pay more attention to the road. Emergency braking applies when too close to an object or pedestrian. It has the normal assortment of airbags and safety structures which is reassuring.
Lights are brilliant. The LED projector headlights are superior to the old halogen ones and the daylight running lights incorporated into the headlight frames are an added safety feature. Two sensors on the dashboard operate the auto headlights at dusk or in road tunnels. They can also be switched on manually if desired. I have just discovered that I have automatic low and high beam! It is brilliant. Set on auto and the lever pushed forward to high beam, the lights automatically dim when an oncoming car approaches, and then return to high beam when clear. Also, if street lights in a built-up area are encountered, the lights go to low beam.
The interior has changed considerably. A "D" shaped steering wheel is unusual at first and the paddle shifters behind it are fun to use, though my wife prefers to just leave it in Drive.
The suspension and chassis has been updated and consequently it rides better and steers better with a smaller turning circle which is great for parking.
The new information display and sat-nav is good but takes a bit of learning. The only disappointment I have is that it doesn't give speed sign warnings like my old after-sales one does.
I am discovering new things with each drive. Blue tooth loaded up my phone contact list automatically and I can tell who is trying to contact me. You can answer the call if you wish by the steering wheel button and the sound comes through the radio. Personally, I prefer not to answer for safety reasons.
If the reliability and running costs are as good as the previous models I will be happy. Service on the Turbo model has dropped to 10,000 Km where as the previous Swift had 15,000 intervals. Currently I am averaging 4.5 Km per 100 Km on trips and 5.6 Km around town.
Love my Swift – The Swift is a compact car to park and navigate, yet fits loads inside so is great for my needs. It is fuel efficient and comfortable to drive. My previous car was also a Swift, and I only wanted to look at Swifts to replace it. Love the new shape and the deep metallic colour. Show details
Great little car – This is my 5th Suzuki Swift! I've been sold since the 1992 model. They've all been great reliable cars. The 2018 model is lacking a little bit of grunt after being downgraded from a 1.4L to a 1.2L, but it's still a great small car. Only complaint I have is that only the top model (they now have 4 in the range, plus the sports) comes with a… Read more
temperature gauge. We got the second model up, and it has cruise control, reverse parking cameras... but I can't tell what the outside temp is, which is quite frankly weird. Considering how cheap they are to include in manufacturing, I'm honestly surprised you didn't include it. Also, the interface for your carplay needs some love. Way too basic.
Spacious ! – Suzuki swifts are very spacious, lots of leg room and fits a family very comfortably ! Very quiet car and cheep to run ! $50 for a full tank that would usually last 2 weeks. Servicing is good price not to expensive and and overall good car for a family or first car buyer ! Show details
Good small car – The swift is a good small car and is great on fuel, it is very cheap for a brand new car. The back seat has very little room and the cars suspension could use some work. The engine is very powerful for the size and gets up to speed very quickly. The are meant to be a safe little car aswell. Show details
Awesome car with a very pretty design – The performance is great and love the special design of a medium-size car. I like the way how they design the booth. Overall, I enjoy driving it. I guess the downsides are swift is for people who are tiny or medium size as there are not much leg room and the two back seats are not as spacious as the toyota corolla. The dashboard is relatively short too to someone like my height (around 170cm). Show details
