Attila - what knowledge! – At the Chatswood store. An absolute goldmine of knowledge - cameras and binoculars. I wanted binos for wildlife. Attila took me through all the options, ifs, buts and whyfor's, answered all my questions, was very patient, let me test them, did not rush me or push to buy until I was sure what I wanted. They've been for a good test drive and are great for what me and my eyes need. THANK YOU Attila. Show details ·  1

I Needed a Canon Camera Battery So, I went to a Camera Supplier – I went to Fountain gate and decided to try to buy a new battery for my camera. The battery is a NB-9L and I would say is a fairly uncommon battery. However, you can get hundreds on Amazon and eBay. But, in Ted's they said, it's not a very common battery, none of our stores have any stock. My answer was, common or uncommon, I need one and they… Read more

said we can get one by next Wednesday (6 days). I said I can get one a lot cheaper from Amazon and tomorrow, why would I buy one from you guys?

Since when did specialist shops become so bad that they only stock common items? Of all the Ted's stores in Australia, none have any stock. It is just a small battery, why can't they have a couple of them? Because shops are not about customers' needs any longer, they are about what sells. They don't care any more.

The worst thing about all of this was I was treated like I was a leper because I wanted something they didn't have. In fact, they had very few batteries at all.

Smartphone Telephoto Lens for Closeups in Zoom Meetings – My web camera has a wider field of view, than needed for just me attending a Zoom conference. I had read that a clip-on 2x Telephoto lens, designed for a smartphone, worked well, so I set out to buy one. It was not easy, but TEd's came to the rescue. Most of the clip on lenses sold for a smart phone are wide angle. It took me some time to find a… Read more ·  1

telephoto. I tried buying a cheap kit from an online discount store (I actually ordered three they were so cheap). This took weeks, but they sent me wide angle lenses, not telephoto, and the quality was terrible. So I got my money back.

Then I called Teds in the Canberra Center. They hunted around and called back an hour later to say they had one. I went in the next day (it is years since I was last actually in an actual camera store). The kit was there, and it works.

I purchased the cheapest option, an Apexel 5 in 1 Clip on Lens Kit, which came with fish-eye, wide, macro lenses, and a polarizing filter, as well as the 2x telephoto. The fish-eye or wide-angle lenses might be of use for showing the general view of a room, but obviously distort the image. The polarizing filter is useful for removing reflections from my glasses, however it can't be used in conjunction with the telephoto lens. The kit comes with a carry case, with space for each lens and the clip. You screw a lens into the clip, which looks like a clothes peg, and then clip it over the camera. It takes some effort to position, but is then held firmly.

As well as narrowing the view, so less of the room is visible, the telephoto lens also makes the background slightly out of focus. This is useful for concentrating the viewer's attention on you in the foreground. Otherwise they might spend their time reading the titles of the books in your bookcase. ;-)

The narrower view also allows a smaller green screen to be used for a virtual Zoom background which I use for teaching as the Higher Education Whisperer.

Outstanding Service and Knowledge – Even though we live in NorthWest Sydney, it was definitely worth the trip on the Metro to see you at Ted's Chatswood. Team Member Brett's service standard was excellent when my wife and I bought the Panasonic TZ110. Unfortunately, we weren't that thrilled with the size of the Viewfinder (we owned a Sony HX90V for 3 years prior) and the Panasonic… Read more ·  1

operating/use applications far too complicated. Thank you so much for changing the camera over to the Sony RX100Mark3. Used it for the first time today and it's really great, not just the operations system that we know and love, but the viewfinder is dampened when it pops out, compared to the HX90V, the focus and shooting even on auto is really really fast and the quality of the first pictures is fabulous. Special mention again, should go to Brett at Chatswood, who really went above and beyond to make us happy in changing the camera as it was beyond the 14day exchange guarantee. I will be a walking advertisement for your service from now on. So nice to get great service, it's so rare in Small Business in Australia. 10/10 from us.

I recently purchased an R5 mark II and two L series zoom lenses from the Canberra centre store and want to acknowledge and give a special shout out to Ben - who assisted me through the process. I had some initial concerns around receiving de-centered lenses. Thankfully, Teds were able to accommodate my request to test both lenses in-store prior to purchase. This greatly reduced my stress.

I was surprised that the RF 70-200mm F/4L IS was a special order as this is a sharp, compact and lightweight option for travel/hiking. It has an average user rating of 4.9/5.0 from 140 reviews on bhphotovideo. Perhaps Teds can consider it regular stock in the future? Regardless, I ended up choosing a near-new used RF 70-200 F/4 at a decent price.

Ted's Camera store in Melbourne CBD is a nice big camera store. It doesn't have the breath of products compared to its neighbour, digidirect. But it is a good old physical store with printing and occasional gem in the second hand department, on top of new gear. Staffs are courteous. I almost wish they are more pushy selling to customers. Keep in… Read more ·  1

mind they can match price if you find a better price elsewhere. They might provide better after sales support and that counts for something! Alexander in particular takes effort to note down what I needed and check other stores, which got me a lens I really needed, great service and well done. Much appreciated.

The store in Brisbane city, the one in Adelaide street, charged us $128 for photo taken and another $180 for printing but none of them met the Passport office requirement and ended up doing it at the Post office

Phoned Adelaide Rundle street store on a Thursday early afternoon. Asked about my requirement of Canon battery charger. Staff person told me they had one. Absolutely terrible service (if you could even call it that) at Maroochydore STORE photo printing counter today. The woman was dismissive, unhelpful and just wanted to finish her shift. Been going here for over 10 years - won’t EVER go back.

Great camera stores. Staff actually know what they are talking about when it comes to photography, and are very helpful and personable. It is actually an enjoyable experience when I visit their many locations (unlike other so-called camera stores) Highly recommended. Show details ·  1

I contacted the Teds customer support online and was advised which stores had stock of a second hand camera I was wishing to buy. Melanie at Teds Brisbane City provided excellent customer service, helping with the purchase of the camera body and tracking down a lens at an interstate store. The service I received from Teds was exceptional and I am very happy with my purchase. Show details ·  1

Great staff at Ted's Sydney City store – The staff at Ted's Sydney City store were hugely helpful when I called to see what I should do about my hardworking underwater camera when it began misbehaving. Lack of Care – The values that Ted’s Cameras presents on their website “Value for Money” doesn’t reflect the decisions sales staff are making. Ask for a price match and they take away a bonus. The current promotion being a birthday celebration voucher based on camera model is subject to sales assistants selling you the camera at full price no discounts or… Read more

price matching. Not only that don’t even think to question anything as you just get blocked. Buying a $3500 camera body thru Ted’s is a take it or leave it deal.

It’s not the first time I feel that there is an air of arrogance when shopping at Ted’s Cameras. If you are new to photography or cameras and want genuine service and trust try elsewhere.

By the way it’s not about the bonus being rejected it’s about respect and service.

Teds Cameras in Perth, Nice one – It is just recently that I have been aware that there is a Teds Cameras store in Perth City. My first experience with them is fantastic. Order and Wait.... and Wait..... and Wait – Ordered a Fujifilm camera S10 bundle that was on a catalog special in Nov 2023. Went into store in Chatswood to pay for and have it ordered in. we receive the product we paid for in full a month ago? Answer - "No idea - They are on Back order". Can give you the money back if you like?

So its now Jan 24 and we still haven't received our purchase, have no idea when or if we will receive and Teds camera has our money, just shy of 2K.

Surely its illegal to advertize a product with limited/no stock and take 100% upfront. With no end in sight we are now on the hunt for a different camera that's in stock. It wont be Fujifilm and it wont be purchased through Teds Camera.
